who are you?

topic posted Mon, September 18, 2006 - 10:40 AM by  Noise
New here, to tribe and this group, and i figured i'd get another thread going while the tribe is still small, by asking who all of you are, what you do, if you make experimental music, art, video, etc? or just enjoy it?

I'll start i suppose:

I'm Noise (How i got that name is a long ass story of debauchery, chaos, and depravity)

My musical name is Prophetnoise. I make electronic music of the experimental variety. I've also been playing bass (4 and 6 string) for over 15 years, and can and have played any style. I have a degree in studio production and am currently re-building my home recording studio.

Originally from NYC, i left to get started on my music career. Moved to New Orleans where i was Head of Sound for 2 clubs on Bourbon st. Now i'm in Portland and i'm struggling to get my musical feet on the ground again, and i'm trying my hardest to meet as many musical people as i can.

hope to be meeting you people soon, and i hope that didn't read like a fucking Personal ad or a Job application. That's just how my brain works.

peace

    Hi, Patasapien here,

I started this forum, I am a fine artist working in a variety of media, but focusing on ink washes and oils at the moment.

I have not invested much time in this group to be honest, I am surprised to see it has grown so much on it's own, and while I was not paying attention.

That makes me very happy actually, it means at least for a small part, I have been right, that the desire does exist on the parts of both experimental musicians, and visual artists to really connect. Maybe everyone is just looking for a good excuse?

From my perspective the two should not be separate scenes, or if they are there should at least be some distinguishable area in which they sort of bleed together indiscernibly.

I am sure without any question in my mind that that seriously great things would come of it

I'm Anna. Word geek. Facilitator and appreciator of other people's art, in my way. If I could just hit the lottery, I could fund all of your projects AND replace my roof.

I've dabbled in just about every art form but I'm currently focusing on the performing ones. Dance training in belly dance, modern, ballet, etc. Theatre training in acting, directing, costume and make-up design, lighting design, etc. I also sing and play a few intruments.

Currently my experimentation is in the combination of dance and theatre. I've been looking at Eastern forms of theatre (ie Kabuki) and how their movement is similar to what we expect from our dancers. My interests are pretty broad, though.

Anyway, pleased to meet you all. :)

Hi I'm Jon 7, I'm living in Eugene and moving up to Portland very soon. I work in experimental electronic music and graphic art. I run a netlabel where I document my own work and that of others I work with... www.jon7.net

I'm looking to meet other artists in a variety of media to discuss ideas and see what ways there are to join forces and create things. I'm definitely interested in meeting people working with recycled objects and media, found sounds, field recording. hardware store instruments.
My take on it is, I just enjoy creating, out of any and everything i'm inspired to work with, whether people like it or listen or not. I enjoy using the internet to self-publish my work and meet others who do the same.

looking forward to the discussions on this forum!

My name is John. I am currently perfecting my graphic design skills at a school in Spokane, Washington or as I like to call it "Spokanistan". I am hoping to move to Portland in the Summer of 2009. Very eager to get the Hell out of here as you could probably tell. In Portland, I intend to start a design collective with 3 or 4 other graphic/web designers and artists. I will have some of my works posted on my profile sometime soon.
