      <description>&lt;div&gt;i recently read a book by micheal tierra called the way of herbs mentioning spouted rice,do it the same basic way you sprout anything else (i soak the rice a lil longer) its an aqiured taste however very enzymatic &lt;/div&gt;

      <title>sprouted lentil recipe</title>

      <description>&lt;div&gt;I have to say I find it very funny that someone *else* started a sprout tribe. My wife and friends think I'm a bit peculiar as I sprout everything. 
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;I thought I'd post the recipe for the sprouted lentils I'm cooking at the moment.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;First; to sprout the lentils. I put about 250g (maybe 1 full cup) of lentils on a pan (preferably glass or ceramic) with just enough water to cover them. Then put  the pan somewhere out of direct light.  Within 4-5 hours they've soaked all that water up and I will add a little more. After the first dousing I just add enough water that there is a small amount sitting at the bottom of the pan at all times, and as I add it try and dampen any dry spots.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;Usually within 1.5-2 days they've got about a centimeter sprout growing.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;After that I wash the whole batch in a sieve with running water. Someone told me once that sprouting plants release enzymes that can cause gas. I don't really know if it's true or not, but I wash them thoroughly for this reason, as well as to wash off any mold/dust that may have settled on them.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;Them I put the whole batch in a pot. Add water just to the top of the lentils. Crush 3 pieces of garlic into the pot. Add about 100 ml of olive oil (or butter if you prefer the flavor). Peel some ginger and add it in big pieces (that can be removed later). Then a tablespoon of yellow curry (I use a mixture I get at an Indian store), some extra cumin, and bring the whole thing to a boil briefly (with the pot covered).
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;After that I let it simmer on very low heat for 30-60 minutes, or until the water is gone (with the pot uncovered).
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;I never add salt as I prefer to serve them with soy sauce; but if you don't use soy sauce they'll need salt.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;I also love to add a dollop of yoghurt.

      <description>&lt;div&gt;Hello everyone, 
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;I am a great lover of eating sprouts though honestly i have never attempted to grow my own. My favs are alfalfa, sunflower and clover sprouts. 
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;This is the most basic 101 question out there but how do i start sprouting? I would really appreciate help.

&lt;br/&gt;Per Michael's suggestion I looked for and found Quinoa, but it was very expensive here (in Germany).
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;What things do you all like to sprout? I'm sprouting things pretty much all the time; sometimes two at once.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;Currently I'm sprouting some green beans. I regularly do mung beans, lentils, azuku beans, pinto, kidney, and black beans. 
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;I'd say my favorites are mung beans and lentils. Both are great either raw or cooked. I usually don't sprout them quite as long if I'm going to use them in a recipe.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;I've got some basil sprouting in the window. I wish I had more ... I'm sure the sprouts must be delicious ... but I'm going to grow them to full grow.

      <description>&lt;div&gt;If wrangles and baseball players/football players set the example this might catch on. Using a divided flat with pockets to sprout five seeds in soil. Once the grass is tall enough for a first cut, make the cut and tie the blades into a knot, be creative in the tie. Refridgerated, the cuttings last three days.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;These can be chewed, on the field, at the keyboard... There is a chew technique, a soft, subtle bruising of the blades releases droplettes of juice and keeps the blades whole (avoiding the splintery texture of the chewed grass - sticks-to-the-tongue sensation); the super sweet, mineral rich, juice generates about three good swallows of a coka-cola sweet energy. 
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;Then you spit out the fiber. 
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;The cuttings are plugs ready for planting.&lt;/div&gt;

&lt;br/&gt;hey, has anyone here sprouted millet before? I love the stuff and am thinking it would be a good sprouted grain. also wondering about almonds... someone told me that you can't officially "sprout" almonds but that they're easier to digest if soaked, and grow a little tail (which sounds like a sprout to me, yo).
