Who: NEQUAQUAM VACUUM and PUFF PUFF GIVE
When: Thursday, March 24th, 10-ish
Where: DUNES, 1905 NE MLK
How much: FREEEEEEEE!
______________________________________________________________________________________

Press Contact: Noah Mickens vacuum at evilemail.com
(503) 490-3956

http://www.radonstudio.com/nequaquamvacuum/index.htm

Nequaquam Vacuum has been a five-year collaboration between scrap-metal
percussionist and free vocalist Noah Mickens and multi-instrumentalist
Travis McAlister. Along the way, we have lost our original co-founder
Tyler
Armstrong (come back to us Tyler!); gone through a number of major
collaborators (such as singing bowl samplerist David Miranda and
freeform
spirit Brighten Richardson; released three full-length CDs (“Nequaquam
Vacuum”, “KU”, and “|0|”) and untold compilation appearances; and
re-made
ourselves as a back-up band for featured soloists like Steve MacKay and
Soriah, musical arm of butoh troupe P.A.N., core of several large
improv
ensembles like The Moe!kestra! and La Orquesta Lengua; and as half of
various gestalt performances with Obe’Skupla, Bill Horist, Noancer, The
Dead
Science, Linda Austin, and others.

Because of our skinwalking nature, it’s difficult to put a number on
the
most recent incarnation of the Nequaquam Vacuum project. Whatever the
sequence, it’s clear that 2005 marks the beginning of still another new
shape.

The addition of prepared guitarist Jamie Davis Jr. (Porca Celeb, City
of
Habits, Human Abstract, etc.) as an essential third member is one major
aspect of the new NV. Another is the ongoing presence of mssrs. Brian
Crowl
(another multi-instrumentalist specializing in the stringed instruments
of
India, Turkey, and the Occident; seen with Sub-Sic, Peevish, Super
Unity,
etc.) and the engimatic “J” (self-taught floutist and violinist, of
Oakland’s Plaguewater Collective, Clan of the Bleeding Eye,
International
Maggot Theater, etc.); as well as a change in focus from the closeted
4-hour
practices of the past to a more open-form meeting of musicians whose
informal membership includes many other local luminaries.

So we’re getting a little more melodic, and a little more rhythmic;
while
continuing to embrace the limitless possibility of the unanticipated
moment.
And that’s why you haven’t been seeing so much of us since last Fall.
We’re working on another new vein of gold in the imposing and ancient
granite face of music, and bringing back our choicest nuggets for your
expert appraisal.

This, in fact, will mark our last performance before leaving Portland
for an
extended 3-week residency with the aforementioned PAN Butoh. Eris
knows
what we’ll sound like when we get back, so this is the time to get
acquainted with our early-2005 style before it gives way to the next
form.
And we’re doing it in the cozy confines of Dunes, which is a fine fine
place
that everyone ought to go to as often as the opportunity presents
itself,
because they support interesting music and community, and because their
shows are free all the time, and because the club is owned and operated
by
two of the people from Jackie O Motherfucker who deserve our money more
than
the guys who own those other clubs (you know who I’m talking about,
too, so
don’t fuck around).

We’re playing with this new psychedelic rock band called Puff Puff
Give,
with that guy Manny who’s always hanging out at Dunes. He does this
really
amazing electronic-dance-rock project called Atole that everybody likes
a
lot, and P-P.G. is like a jam band with other people besides himself.
People whose identities I do not know. But how can it not be fresh
with
that guy at the helm, huh? I think maybe he’s also DJ BJ, which is a
funny
name.

5000. – N.

dumpster report 1282 Folsom Decker Electric @ 9th St/ Anon Salon

spool after spool, all used, partial, 10% left some 20%

guessing a 100 feet on some, and 200 feet on others, of CAT5e cable.

Also some Black spools with purple CAT6 cable.

Lots of conduit and connectors, (Buid a dome! Everyone's doin' it)

A tv.

A File Cabinet.

Many boxes with, for example, wire, fittings, connectors, insulators, 3 and 2 inch Galvanized Threaded pipe connectors.

Most of the conduit stuff is 1"

Spring attached to Chunk of steel. x 100 what are these?

in steps mike from http://tribe.net

if it's a 1" spring attached to a threaded chunk of cast steel in a out of kilter rectangle with two grooves in it - then it's a backing nut for "unistrut" U-channel. slide it into the channel and bolt things up.

I love Tribe.net, and I love Craigslist.org I often recommend both to folks I meet.

Wanna know how cool craigslist is? So cool they are not so petty as to block tribe.net from linking on their site.

Not like friendster. Friendster kills your account if you mention tribe.

Friendster is slow, stupid, spooky, maybe invades privacy, and crashes. ( That's why most x-friendsters are on Tribe )

This dumpster will have to dissapear before the Sunday Folsom St. Fair.

Seems this is a dot com service shop gone bust.

Come and get it!

Waste not, want not!
