Hi folks...
I posted this onto Tribal Hharmonix last week, but I realize alot of you don't frequent the THX forums.
If you want to join THX go to www.tribalharmonix.org
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It's been over two weeks since Faeries & Fools 8 and I am finally ready to delve into my thoughts and feelings.
Firstly and most importantly...
I need to thank a few people.
Erica Snowlake, the original Elphinstone Faerie Goddess. Without her there would never have been a Faeries & Fools to begin with. For many a year she held down the Faerie energy in Roberts Creek at her Juice Bar outside the Gumboot. She was always good for tasty juices and heartfelt conversation. Her and I were sharing a Hot Apple, Lemon, Ginger on a cold February afternoon 8 years ago and bouncing around ideas for a new type of dance event and from that conversation F&F was born. She was integral to the first 4 F&F's before moving to Venice Beach, California.
I miss you Erica. I hope the warm California weather is treating you well.
David Barbarash...
A brother from another mother. David has been absolutely crucial to the success of F&F over the last 3 years. If he were not the special person that he is, and if he was not willing to sacrifice so much of his time, money, and energy Faeries & Fools probably would not have happened this year or last. When working on a project like F&F you really get to know a person and I can honestly say the more I know David the more I love him. Thanks for being you David. It's been a great pleasure working with you.
Steve Ewing & Houston Krohman...
Steve and Houston have been incredibly helpful in navigating the technical realm. Both of them have made a technophobe like me feel comfortable in knowing there was quality people taking care of the technical aspect of things. Steve has been too busy the last couple years to help out so Houston has stepped up and taken care of the technical side of things very well. F&F 7 almost killed Houston who did the work of a small army all by himself, so this year we hired a stellar crew to handle sound, power, lighting etc... and all Houston had to do was act as a liason between the festival and the hired help. Thanks for everything Houston! I know you will be stepping up to organize a big event one day and when you do I will be super happy to help in any way I can.
Jennifer & Cody...
Two amazingly creative and visionary souls who are holding down the space at Crystal Creek, and who over the last few years have been crucial in expanding and co-ordinating the day-time aspect of F&F. The play they starred in at the First F&F held up at Crystal Creek three years ago was truly something special. They have to live with and deal with the post F&F aftermath at Crystal Creek and they have always been very understanding. Thanks guys.
Dhyanna..
The hostess with mostest!!! What can I say about Dhyanna? How about that she is an absolute Goddess who has opened up her sacred property for all of us Faeries & Fools to enjoy over the last few years. More than that she has blessed us with Divinely channelled opening ceremony rituals and her divine presence on the dance-floor.
Trish...
Trish is a pillar of the Sunshine Coast community. She is more than a mother to her kids, she is a mother to ALL the kids who have ever been to Faeries & Fools. All the years F&F was at the hall she would hold down the kitchen vibe and provide safe space and tasty snacks for all. Her family has adopted me as one of their own and for this I am honoured and grateful. The Cloak her and her son Pan made me this year is one I will wear with pride. I love you guys!!!
Sijay...
designed the poster for every F&F except the very first one which my friend Phi Corbett designed. Sijay is a man of many talents and thus is in big demand to be working on various projects at all times. He has always found time to work on the F&F posters and flyers and has dedicated himself to making each one truly special and unique. I have always loved working with him and will have to find new excuses to hang out with him if this does indeed turn out to be the last F&F.
Suez... and all of her amazing visuals crew.
Thanks so much for your great spirit and absolute profesionalism. With Suez at the helm of the lightship I never had to worry about the visual aspect of the event. Having you right there on stage with us this year was awesome. Aside from being super skilled at what she does, Suez is a real sassy dresser and knows how to shake her booty like few others.
KLC, Linda, Ariel, Copper Chris, Ken the Dreamer, and everyone else who helped with decorating, building stages, altars, and generally creating the magickal spaces. You guys are all amazing!!! I know if we had an even bigger budget you guys could take things to the stratosphere but even within limited budgets you all were super inspired and inspiring. I hope you all enjoyed yourselves as much as everyone else did dancing in the sacred spaces you created.
Kaya and Ian for all their work on the website.
Kaya especially... this years site looks amazing. I'm inclined to try find a way to keep it relevant and going even if F&F doesn't happen again.
Demian... for capturing the essence of F&F so well over the last few years. I can hardly wait to see this years video. As in I CAN HARDLY WAIT!!! Any idea when this years vid will be ready for viewing??? Maybe we can organize a viewing of it when it is ready and charge a few bucks which can be used to offset some of the financial losses of this years event. Just a thought. wink
Sundara...
The woman who was crazy enough to marry a man like me who cares so much about community and culture that on way too many days and nights she had to wonder where the hell I was and why I care so much about organizing this event called Faeries & Fools. She was the poster model for F&F 7 and in spite of the fact that our marriage has indeed run its course our friendship is eternal. I will always love you Sundara, you are a beautiful goddess and deserve the best out of life. Thanks for putting up with me.
All the DJ's, Musicians, Circus Performers, Fashion designers, etc...
Way too many to list off who graced us with your skills over the 8 years of F&F.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! YOU ARE ALL AMAZING!!!!
If anybody reading this thread wants to give special props to a dj or other artist who especially touched them over the 8 years of F&F mayhem I would love to read about it.
THE VOLUNTEERS...
You can't do an event like F&F without Volunteers, and in some cases folks who paid for a ticket but still stepped up to help when they noticed a spot where help was needed. There are way to many to name. But 2 in particular do need to be mentioned. Luna & Romina who between the two of them held things down at the front gate over these last 3 years at Crystal Creek. That particular job is so important that it needs to be handled by someone who is smart, a good communicator, and above all trustworthy. We could not have been in better hands over these last few years.
Finally, but most importantly...
YOU!!!!!!!!
All the Faeries, Fools, and Freaks who came and played, danced, laughed, cried, made friends, lovers, and generally created the magick with your stellar costumes and unbelieveable energy.
Seeing the love and light in so many faces makes all the effort worthwhile.
I am sure I am forgetting someone so I may add on to this thread later, or.... if someone out there notices an ommision please let me know.
I have sincerely loved doing F&F these last 8 years and don't rule out the possibility of doing it again at some point in the future if the stars allign. Until then though... may the spirit of Faeries & Fools live on FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Love,
Nils

Re: BIG THANKS!
Sun, June 3, 2007 - 10:36 PMand a massive thanks goes out to you nils, and of course david, for working so hard for such a long time to produce this crucial event for the coastal community. deep bows, much respect and gratitude for providing the space for all the artists to represent and for the entire community to have a really fun day (and night) out. endless thanks!
