Re: What book brought yopu to Forgotten Realms?
Wed, January 18, 2006 - 2:34 PMMy first Forgotten Realms book (it's actually a trilogy) was Azure Bonds. I can't remember now if that was the name of the first book, or the whole trilogy. In fact, I remember very little about it, other than I enjoyed it and the next two. Also, at the very beginning, I read Spellfire, which I loved. And also, I've forgotten most everything about it. I like them both, but never reread them. That was over 15 years ago.
The Forgotten Realms ones that really stuck with me are, you guessed it, the many Drizzt books. I started with the Dark Elf trilogy, and couldn't put them down. I love to pick one up at random, flip open to any page, and just reread that part. They're that enjoyable. R. A. Salvatore is a god. All praise his name. -

Re: What book brought yopu to Forgotten Realms?
Tue, January 24, 2006 - 11:52 AMYeah, Roadie sent me a message saying that he quit all his tribes when the new layout hit. :( He couldn't see all his tribes at once. I know the new layout has thrown me for a loop. I'm still getting used to it. -

Sat, January 28, 2006 - 10:49 AMYou can see them all at once and get it to stay that way. Did you know? -

I left alot of tribes I did not want to because of impulsive short sighted behavior.

Re: What book brought yopu to Forgotten Realms?
Thu, January 26, 2006 - 8:27 AMMy first book was...Streams of Silver (the store I was at didn't have the Crystal Shard). Unfortunately, though I've attempted to reread the book several times but to no avail in ressurecting surprise at the pages once more. Curse my memory! Forcing me to remember every book I read. -

Re: What book brought yopu to Forgotten Realms?
Fri, January 27, 2006 - 11:59 PMThe first Forgotten Realms book I read was ShadowSong, by elain cunningham, about the half elf women, I canoot remember her name. She is a Harper, and that is about all I remember... I read all those books, then Daughter of the Drow, also by Elaine, and then I got into the Drizzt books.. If you like Drizzt, read Daughter of the Drow.. Liriel Baenre is an awesome character. I can't figure out if she met Drizzt, would it be a match made in Heaven, or Hell... They are so different, yet so alike....Also, the human she ends up trumping around with reminds me (just a tad) of Wulfgar. Anyways, there you go, that is what got me hooked..
I started reading the first Dragonlance Trilogy recently.. Hated it at first, but I got into it eventually. It is hard to believe it is the same universe, just different realms, sometimes.. The writing style is so different.....
And what is up with DragonFear???? -

Re: What book brought yopu to Forgotten Realms?
Wed, February 1, 2006 - 9:19 AMI have systematically read just about every Forgotten Realms book ; My first was Realms of MAgic and I stumbled onto Faerun visa via Cunninghams Krynn books. -
-
Re: What book brought yopu to Forgotten Realms?
Tue, February 7, 2006 - 8:37 PMI thought Cunningham wrote for Forgotten Realms.. Krynn, as I have been informed, is the Dragonlance books.... I am confused.... -

Re: What book brought yopu to Forgotten Realms?
Wed, February 8, 2006 - 1:29 PMI know Cunningham has a few Forgotten Realms series. She may have also written Dragonlance. I dunno. A few of the authors do both. I'll try and check around. -

Re: What book brought yopu to Forgotten Realms?

Re: What book brought yopu to Forgotten Realms?
Tue, July 11, 2006 - 2:28 AMCunningham wrote for TSR.
TSR owned the rights to both FR and Dragonlance.
Thus Cunningham wrote for both at different times.
The two are totally seperate fantasy realms, but are bound together by the fact that they were both part of TSR's larger Dungeons & Dragons product line.

Re: What book brought yopu to Forgotten Realms?
Thu, March 16, 2006 - 5:39 AMI came into the Forgotten Realms through the game actually, and got the novels because of that rather than vice versa. The first FR book I read I believe was The Crystal Shard, but I'm not 100% sure on that. This was a LONG time ago. :) I've read the first two spellfire books, some random harpers ones, and some of the Elminster ones. :)

That would be the 3.0 FRCS (D&D game book). The so-called FR "novels" suck ... big time.

Re: RE: What book brought you to the Realms?
Sun, September 3, 2006 - 7:32 AMPlease read my response to you in the previous forum you posted in. We are here to have a calm "adult" discussion. If you continue to "flame" the board with ignorant, more-or-less of-topic, and derogatory posts, I will be forced to ask the moderator to remove you.
I think everyone has a right to their opinion, and I have been in the Army and defeded everyones right to voice that opinion, but if you are going to post something as flaming and derogitory as "FR novels suck...!", then be prepared to back it up, don't just drop it there and wait for the angry responses...
If you can tell me, in a calm, rational, adult, manner WHY you feel FR novels suck, I will be more thn happy to engage in debate (not argument) on the topic. But the first minute it becomes personal, or a "flame war" the discussion is over... is that fair...?
