Re: We need a new topic!
Sun, October 29, 2006 - 8:25 PMHero: Elminster, becuase he's cranky, cool, and there isn't anyone else I'd rather have between me and trouble. It used to be Drizzt before he got overboard loopy with the morality and depression.
Villain: Jarlaxle. Charming, devious, and always in control even when everything is falling apart. Not that I want to sit down to dinner with him or anything. Or allow him anywhere near any food I may ingest.
Setting: I spend a lot of game time in the dales, Myth Drannor and Elminster fascinate me. :)

Re: We need a new topic!
Mon, October 30, 2006 - 8:42 AMHero: I'd have to say Drizzt but I've only read Icewinddale trilogy and the Darkelf trilogy so I know nothing of what Dyana is referring to. (also Elminster is my least favorite hero because he is an obvious rip-off of Gandalf)
Villian: Who can beat the coolness of Artemis Entreri? He's the ice for blood typical assassin with style baby! ;)
Setting: Even though I hate big cities in RL, I'd have to say Waterdeep. It's got a bit of everything.

Re: We need a new topic!
Mon, October 30, 2006 - 9:28 AMSalvatore is actually writing adventures centered on Jarlaxle and Entreri(They met and kind of joined forces in later books) as the protragonists, that I believe have nothing to do wtih Drizzt(this is a belief, I have not read them, and could be hugely wrong).

Re: We need a new topic!
Wed, November 15, 2006 - 4:04 AMI read part of the "Witch King" book, and you are correct. Entreri and Jarlaxle... no Drizzt so far...

Re: We need a new topic!
Sat, November 4, 2006 - 1:07 PMFavorite hero: Zaranda Star. She is a tough wizard/fighter that doesn't take any stuff plus she is a smart ass.
Favorite villian: Manshoon. He is a bad dude to be able to spin all of those elaborate plots and keep all his conspirators (who want his power) at bay to boot. Plus keeping clones of himself in case something happens to him is cool too.
Favorite setting: Skullport and/or the Underdark -

Re: We need a new topic!
Sun, November 5, 2006 - 4:43 AMWhat is Zaranda from? I don't recognize her, and since winter has set in (I swear, we had two days of fall in Ohio this year and then winter arrived and refused to leave) I'm trapped inside mostly til spring and can use some good new books. :) -

Re: We need a new topic!
Thu, November 9, 2006 - 6:26 PMoops D(Y)ana,
Zaranda is from the book "War in Tethyr" .
lol I do the same thing, lay in a supply of new books to read during the winter.
Have you read "Finder's Bane", book 15 of the Harper's series or the follow up "Tymora's Luck"? I liked those two because they were a little different than the usual FR books.
Anyone have any suggestions on FR novels they thought were good? I am getting ready to stock up. :) -

Harpers
Fri, November 10, 2006 - 12:50 AMI am interested in the Harpers, what books would you recommend I read to see them at their best? I may have my char in my local game prestige into a Harper and I'm curious why I should take them over normal levels of Bard. Thanks!

Re: We need a new topic!
Fri, November 10, 2006 - 5:01 AMI think I read Finder's Bane a long time ago, but I'm wibbly on that. and may be confusing it with something else. Although gonig through and getting the Harper books I haven't read and any Ravenloft ones I may have missed(I suspect not many, I loved RL) along with the War in Tethyr then sounds like it will absorb some of my trapped time. :) I'm cold-reactive asthmatic, so all I can do in the winter is read, game, and spend time on my computer if I like breathing. Sounds great til the gaming group is doing all this great stuff outside and keeps talking about it and I'm trapped. LOL

Fri, November 10, 2006 - 9:29 AMUmmm, what the hell does wibbly mean? ;P -
-
Re: We need a new topic!
Sun, November 12, 2006 - 5:48 AMNot really certain. Wibbling is going back and forth, not really sure of the information/course of action you want to take. -

Re: We need a new topic!
Sun, November 12, 2006 - 4:45 PMI see. I've never heard of that one before. ;) -

Re: We need a new topic!
Wed, November 15, 2006 - 10:26 AMI don't remember where it comes from. Part of the downside of having penpals on the internet all over the world means weird things creep into my vocabulary. :)

Re: We need a new topic!
Mon, November 20, 2006 - 12:34 AMHero: Zaranda Star, presently Queen of Thethyr, and her talking horse. Humorous and camp, that is what these two are and not brooding and self pitying like Drizzt. Sometimes I like also the Blackstaff, what is not to like about a wiz and his cool powers!
Villain: Szass Tamm and good ol'e Fzoul. In my last game session Fzouly invaded Evermeet with his despicable Zhents and the help of some Drow
Setting: Arrabar and Chondath. Its a big city and a mysterious countryside and the brooding condalwood to the south
