This is our first time at the Rockit Room (aka: old Last Day Saloon) and would love to feel the support of our Krew. Our friends

Todd Shipley Band 8:30-9:30 www.toddshipley.com, and Big Lion 9:45-10:45 www.biglionband.com, will be starting things off. If you haven't seen Big Lion, you should. They are coming off of a big gig at the Great American Music Hall!

Kanvus starts at 11:00 and will go until closing.

The show is only 5 bucks and Kanvus is coming off some great momentum after HSMF and the SB Summer Soulstice Party, so we are going to bring it real good!!

Thanks to everyone that came out and made Mayflowers III such a success!!! I had such a great time throughout the weekend and was blown away by the music that transpired over the two days. Special thanks to the Hot Buttered Rum boys, Dave Brogan, Ari Gorman, Baby's Mama, JP Cutler Band, Forest Sun, Lebo and of course, Steve Adams...everyone held it down in a monumental way and I am proud to have you all as friends....thank you all.

Hey Friends,

I just created a site called GabyVmusic.com. This was an idea a friend of mine had to help give me a little spark with the music creating process. The idea is to have one new song posted on my site each week. The spark has really worked and I am already on week number 4, which means I have already uploaded 4 new songs.
Each song posted is totally original and unique to the going's on in my life for that week. I have vowed to follow through with the weekly creation for one full year, so that means at the end of the year I will have a total of 52 new, original songs. Anyone can go on the site (GabyVmusic.com) to listen to and download songs.
People who subscribe to the blog (that's you!! :>) and/or email list can get the song emailed to them immediately when the new song is posted each week.
I am really trying to run with this thing. I am asking for feedback from anyone and everyone on the GabyVMusic.com site. Subscribers can give their own recommendation on themes for upcoming week's songs and also post responses and critiques to songs already posted.

Big Light--Fred Torphy and Jamie Fordyce began playing music together as childhood friends growing up in Rhode Island in the 1980's. Their shared history is a cornerstone of the band's songwriting and live performances. Big Light came together in San Francisco during the middle of 2007. 3 of the 4 musicians who make up the band (Fred Torphy - guitar/vox, Jamie Fordyce - guitar/bass/vox, and Bradly Bifulco - drums) had been playing in the bi-coastal cult outfit The White Thighs. When Fred booked a solo gig at San Francisco's Boom Boom Room in May of 2007, Jamie and Bradly joined him as his band, and this combination would serve as the core of Big Light. On November 3rd 2007, Fred, Jamie, Bradly, and Colin Hoops (keys) made their live debut as Big Light, opening up for world-class singer/songwriter Nathan Moore (ThaMuseMeant, Surprise Me Mr. Davis) at Il Pirata in San Francisco. The following night, Nathan opened up for Big Light at an encore performance at the Connecticut Yankee. At both performances Big Light collaborated with Nathan on several obscure tunes from his 1000+ songbook. Big Light continues to play a few Nathan Moore songs at most every show. Currently at work on their first studio effort with producer Jeremy Black (drums - Apollo Sunshine), they hope to release an EP in the first half of 2008. Big Light performs regularly in and around the San Francisco Bay Area.

very quiet on here lately. You guys still with me? We have had some great shows go down this past year and some GREAT shows on the horizon. New Mastersounds, ALO, PGroove.

I have also branched off and started managing Kanvus. I can not say enough good things about this band. These guys are going to take signifacant strides in 08 and we are going to blow this shit up!

what is going on in your guys world? what do you want to see more of in 08? how do you think F&F is doing in providing good music to the phamily. I miss you guys. Pipe up damnit!

reality check

yesterday on may way to work i was rear ended by a truck going about 50. i was stopped at a red light. my new car is tottaled. ambulence and fire trucks on the scene. I spent about 6 hours in the ER doing x rays and katscans to see if there is any neorological damage. I have strained mscules throughout my neck upper and lower back and bruised vertibrea in my upper and lower back. i am out of the hospital and doing ok, i cant go back to work for about a week and i feel as if a mak10 has ran me over. pardon the pun. i feel veryy lucky to been able to walk away from the accident. i drove myself to the ER, refusing an ambulence and then just about toppled over inthe parking lot. the soreness yesterday is nothing compared to today, but again, it could have been worse. Aspen could have been in the car. The thought of that is far to much to bear. I have insurance andso does the other driver, so now it will just be a long drawn out process of paperwork and phonecalls and versions of what happened. I am having a hard time walking but there should be no long term damage...at least i hope none. all scheduled shows are continuingon as planned. i hope to see you all soon....hug the ones you love; you never know what is around the next corner....

Hey all--

As you may or may not know, last August 29th my Mom died from breast cancer after battling the disease for 13 years. This past year has been full of ups and downs for me and I have been keeping some distance from the scene for the most part, just trying to sort through some personal stuff and focus on building my business and most importantly; being a father...something that has brought me a tremedous amount of joy and comfort in these difficult times.

I am emailing you all because I am trying to get a group together to join me at the Blackthorn Wednesday night to blow off some steam. I know alot of you are gearing up for Burning Man and might not be around, but if any of you are going to be in the city and dont have anything going, I would love it if you came by and had a drink and said hello.

So if you are around and able to come say hello; I wuould love to see you all. The Blackthorn is located at 834 Irving Street San Francisco, CA 94122. If you cant make it, dont sweat it...I will see you all soon

is the funniest fucking movie i have ever seen in my life. i dont think i have ever laughed that hard in a movie ever. i can not reccomend this movie enough...go see this movie!!!

i saw it last night at midnight by myself. packed house. everyone was laughing so hard throughout the movie at times it was hard to hear dialogue following certain scenes. fucking Mclovin.

holy shit. So I have been going through this rediscovery of disco as of late and am currently piecing together a 10 piece disco band that will be playing in the bay in the winter...in doing some investigating I stumbled across this band....

it just so happens that these guys are playing at the 12 Galaxies on Saturday Aug. 4th. It is a total scene and folks get all decked out and it is going to be ridiculous fun. As many of you know, not all that long ago, my main gig was as a writer. It has been a looong time since I have written anyting out and felt good enough to share it with anyone, but this morning my penhit the paper and wrote out the following in less then 5 minutes. It came out of nowhere and I wanted to share it with you:

How silly are you to think you could change yourself?
Stop all the late nights and look after your health
And as if saying it in your head for the millionth time

So you take this new version of and old concept and wrap it up tight
With your eyes blazing a fire as you disappear into the night

Out on the streets the people continue to push on
Struggling in every moment just to stay strong
Such a sad life we live with wounds so fresh
Just as the healing begins, those wounds are ripped fresh again

Fighting to steal away to higher ground
We soak up the freshness with an airtight frown
And dive to the bottom of this bottle to where the light wont hit
With a cigarette engraved between you're your lips

And like a stone thrown to the bottom of a well
You sink like a weight falling down, so down
Like the king of discomfort
Red faced and embarrassed underneath your crown

Falcor and Friends Presents is putting the soul in soulstice this coming weekend in San Francisco! Things will kick off at Mojito in North Beach on Thursday night with the Brian Jordan band featuring Inkx Herman, Colin Hoops and some very special guests! Then on Friday the Mission Players will be having their “Get Back Soul” CD release party. Supporting the Mission Players will be rising bay area band, Kanvus, fronted by Gaby V. who has shared the stage with several of String Cheese Incident’s side project’s, including EOTO and Honkeytonk Homeslice. Thanks for a great time on Sat/Sun. The New Mastersounds are definitely going to grow their fan base if they keep on playing shows like your FUnKsicle. The venue was great, your guests were great, and all of you that helped put this on and entertain us were great. All the bands were fabulous and I only wished I could've stayed up a bit longer to enjoy the DJ a bit more as well.
Whew! A fine start to summer camping and festival season. Thanks again for a fabulous time and look forward to seeing the New Mastersounds soon and to the next Falcor presentation.

Oh - and NICE purple flair too Matt! If I ever get my internet set up at home I will send in photos.

Soulstice cancelled

I am sorry to say that although I have been scrambling to try to make it happen, the Soulstice is not going to go down this year. We initially had an unbelievable site down in Santa Barbara, but when the land owners countered back with an unrealistic site fee I was forced to start looking elsewhere. Once I had found a space to host it we had lost the bulk of the lineup because they were no longer available. Trying to still rewire it to make it work, I considered cutting it down to one day and one night on the same space we are doing this Funkisckle, but the reality is it would not be a smart business move on my end to take on such high costs for this event. No one makes out when something is thrown together half assed. I apologize first and foremost to the bands who were still trying to make this work:BLVD, Motion Potion, Brian Jordan & Kanvas...and od course all of you who were looking forward to the event.

Have no fear. Soulstic will return next year, WITH MIke Summers on board, and lets not forget that the Soulstice iw his baby in the first place. As for now, i am going to get back to work on ironing out everything for the Funksickle. I dont think I have been more excited for a show since mAyfLOwers1...

Finally some due respect - A review from one of the major music publications, Relix Magazine. Of course they did get the name of the label just a tad wrong, but the review is stellar and I didn't have to pay for it-! The New Mastersounds were a hit on JamCruise in January and at jazz fest in New Orleans last month. In June NMS will be playing The Wakarusa Music Festival in Kansas, The Harmony Festival in California, and GrafefulFest in Ohio, before returning for their 3rd trip to the High Sierra Music Festival in California and the Wicker Park Music Festival in Chicago in July, followed by a trip to Texas for the Austin Funk Festival. Of course there's lots of club gigs in between so they can really stretch out the songs and sets, four or five hours worth. In the works: A documentary film of the band's recent trip to New Orleans and their U.K. gigs leading up their trip to the states in support of their new album "102%". A great film crew from New York and New Orleans was with the band and entourage throughout the weekend from the minute the plane landed, the house shinanighans, the performances at the House of Blues and The Blue Nile on Frenchman Street, and of course the now famous house and impromptu party on Lopez Street (see attached photo of NMS performance Sunday afternoon). The filming stopped Monday morning, just after an Allman Brothers'ish adventure in a graveyard at dawn which was all of about an hour after they played the last note at the Blue Nile.

Funksickle shuttle from Harmony to Camp Falcor

just like the title says:

there will be a 15 person passenger van taking people from Harmony up the mountain to the Funksickle. The pick up will be across the street from the Sonoma County Fairgrounds at the Santa Rosa Memorial Building's parking lot. The Memorial Building is the very large blue building directly across the street from the Grace Pavillion. The Shuttle will begin making runs at 7PM and will be making trips until Midnight. There will be a return shuttle the following morning starting at 8am and going until 10am. It takes roughly a half hour to get from site to site. The cost of the shuttle is $10 a head.

to all you's coming who are not in need of the shuttle...please please please carpool...we are limited on parking spaces and do not want to overcrowd the meadow with cars....

hey all. i just wanted to jump on here real quick and apologize for the emails that have gone out through falcorandfriends.com I have been experiencing quite a bit of troubles as of late with inticketing, who is the host of my site and email provider. The email that just went out was not supposed to go out. Please disregard it, tix are $45 and still available.

I will send out an updated correct email with further artist additions next monday. I got a few more ticks up my sleeve and I think you all will be pleased at the additions the Funksickle has made. I know some of you are on the fence as far as Harmony or the Funksickle. I am working on a shuttle to go between both to bring folks up the mountain. I would never be ballsy enough to tell you that one or the other is going to be better, but after seeing this property, helping design the laser light show and knowing who we are about to announce...trust me. This will be a night you will never forget. We have already sold 71 tickets thus far and am capping off at 200. This event is promising to be the most exciting and unique event F&F has hosted to date. I can not begin to explain how excited I am for this one.

Showing an unabashed affection for alliteration (and the word funk) Santa Rosa, California-based promoters Falcor and Friends have dubbed their forthcoming event Falcor's Funktastic Funksickle. This will be a private campout starting a noon on Saturday June 9th and extending until noon the next day. I had so much fun this weekend. I am so thankful to have been with you all. I realy cant remember the last time I enjoyed myself thsi much...it has been quite a while. BIg thanks to Lebo for stopping by and of course MoPo. Lebo has played at just about every F&F showthus far, minus Spanksgiving. not a bad track record. My personal highlight was sitting backstage with Lebo and the Mastersounds are downstairs killing it and Lebo turns to me and say "you want to hear what I would play if I was on stage " ummm...ok? like I would say no. So Lebo goes onto play this oober funk solo's backstage going in time with what the band i splaying downstairs. my own little private show. classic. any band that can keep me dancing till 4:30 am stone cold sober is all good in my book. yesterday in the park was an nadded bonus. i just love hanging out with them. they are generally great fucking people. again, everyone involved. thank you. i feel like i am slowly coming out of my shell and it feels good to be getting back into the swing of things. see ya'll real soon.

Scott Baston leaves Moonshine Still

today is a sad day for me. Scott Baston has left MsS. Moonshine Still, for those of you who do not know, was the first band in the scene that I met, became aquainted with and even booked. When jambase offered me an internship in 04, I threw a going away party at the compound in Costa Mesa. My uncle built the stage in the backyard, my Mom did all the ambience, 4 bands played, Moonshine Still headlined and Scott and Will played a late night acoustic jam in my living room. It was the only time my Mom was able to present at a show that I put on. She loved it. Most of all, she loved Scott and his southern manners. Fast forward: two years later I am flying back to Oakland from New York. Heather is prgenant and I had been in New York for a wedding. My flight home was grounded due to an electrical storm in Atlanta. I was to be stuck in the airport all night. I hadnt talked with Scott is some time...wasnt even sure if his number still worked. an hour later he is picking me up and taking me back to his place. We have dinner and sit back and catch up for HOURS. we sat and talked till 4am. I kept playing him different tunes of ALO, insisting he listen to this band. He fell in love with the song Sweetheart and said he would love to sit in some time on that song. I told him that as a means of saying thanks for the hospitality; I would see to it that he sit in at some point for that song.(this is the driving force behind me booking them to play mayflowers2; so he could play sweetheart with the band...which he did) the next morning Scott took me to Cracker Barrell and I was dun. This place actually brings you biscuits and gravy like a mexican place brings you chips and salsa. Needless to say, I was in fugging love. He then drove me all around Atlanta showing me where everything was. I remember we went in to all these shops. Neither one of us had money, but we still tried on several pairs of shoes at one shop. The Salesperson totally thought he had a sale with us. WE kept trying on more shoes and asking for different colors...neither one of us bought a thing. I would have lost my shit if it was me. It was a really great experience outside of music for us...and I suppose him too...both of us were just enjoying the time... Something that these guys never get to do.

I know Scott's health has been bad for some time, and he is getting throat surgery later this year. I wish Scott a speedy recovery and hope that he continues to play in some form for years to come.

For the rest of the band, I have no fear that this change is going to be nothing but positive. A fresh start with a clean slate. These guys are the nicest, most humble bands out there, and they are looong overdue for some recognition. I will miss Moonshine Still.

Summer Soulstice glitch...your help is needed!!!

The property I had lined up for Soulstice has backed out of our agreement. There are several reasons for his, but mainly it comes down to them wanting more money. While I am sad to see the location and ocean view go; I am determined to find a replacement site asap. We have all the artists confirmed and I plan to make this thing happen. What I am looking for: privately owned land that has the ability to park and camp up to 300 people. We are bringing all of our own porta potties, water supplies, staging sound, pa...everything ...and the ENTIRE event will be off set; making this puppy GREEN. WE will be using a non profit for our alcohol sales and will be purchasing an insurance policy covering all attendees over the three days. In addition, we are prepared to have liability waivotrs signed by all attendees prior to the event. the dates are JUne 22nd-June 24th and we need to be able to go late. RIP Loosey 5-8-07

my best friend and partner of the last ten years passed away this morning shortly after 10AM. Loosey's health had been struggling over the past few months since my Mom had died. She had lung cancer and had recently started to have bad siezures. Yesterday we had to make an emergency run to the vet and they gave her medication, but she siezured again early this morning and then again in the car on the way to the vets. Putting her to sleep was the hardest thing I have ever had to do. She was the greatest dog in the world and I am feeling a huge void already without her. I am so sad she is gone. I will miss her forever. Goodbye old friend. You meant more to me then 90% of the relationships I have mustered in the last 26 years. I will NEVER forget you.

is cancelled. iam working on a show with Kinky, blvd and Bassnectar that will be in May. whether it will be called mayflowers or not is still left to be decided. i will keep you all posted as soon as i get my head together and figure it out. but i thought you all should know.

mayflowers is not about ALO. It is about new beginnings and shifting negativity into positivity. I hold this very dear to my heart and although it pains me very much to know that it is not going down this year; this, in essence, is a shift into yet another new beginning. I have more love in my heart for ALO, both musically and on a personal basis. I have found that Jenna, Dan, Steve, Zach and Dave have become my closest friends and phamily. I will continue to try to foster a new beggining and a new event that will work for all of us in the future. mayflowers is NOT dead. This much I know.

please feel free to cross post this to the yahoo group, alo tribe, myspace...wherever you think it needs to be. I Just dont have it in me today. I love you guys and hope to see you at Shenanigans, and of course all of the phreaks in SB for the Return of the Farmer

my new radio residency

hey all....I have been offered a really cool new gig. Culture Shock News, the same radio program that interviewed me back a few months ago, has contacted me about coming on board as a regular on the program. I will start the next couple of months with a 20 minute segment, and will talking about anything and everything that has to do with our scene, our shows and whatever else seems important at the time. I will be playing segments of past shows, offering free tix to upcoming shows and plugging local acts. Yeah Gabby!

If all goes well with this new adventure; there is talk of getting my own "Falcor Radio" program!! it would be two hours every other week. The first segment will go next Saturday. I will post all the information on how to listen and so on. PLease help support by tuning in online or on the radio and calling in to let them kknow that people are interested!!!

I have to admit, the last couple months have been pretty difficult for me. This news couldn't have come at a better time. I hope you are well...I miss you guys....its been quiet on here...ya'll still with me??

Hey Beautiful people. Just wanted to give you all a head's up that the two Vuelta shows from Dulcineas in Denver, Colorado are up on archive.org for anyone and all to check out and download. I have only heard the Tuesday night 01-16-07 and I am stoked on how it came out. So if you get a chance, get on archive.org and have a listen to the show. Also feel free to download, burn, and spread the love. Hey there beautiful people. Hope you are all having an amazing holiday season.
Just a little message to let you know how excited Ryan and I and our live-looping project
VUELTA (myspace.com/vueltamusic) have a couple of really special shows over the
pre-New Years Cheese run.

We will be opening for Michael Travis and Jason Hahn and their band EOTO
on the 27th at the Downtown Brew in San Luis Obispo, CA. Show starts at 8:00 and it is $8.00
We will also be doing a post String Cheese Incident late-night show on Dec. 30th at Studio 352
(I am sure many of you already know where this is, but if you don't know , let me know or it will be on flyer
on night of SCI show). We are going all out for this event with visual artist Big Jon spinning eye candy
on several screens, several dancers, a very very long groovin Vuelta set with very special guests sitting in.
Cant' wait to get my party on with each one of you. "No days off!"

this movie is fucking hilarious. Anyone who is looking for a nice disfunctinal comedy this holiday...I highly reccomend Little Miss Sunshine. Alan Arkin as the grandfather is maybe the best comedic charctor I have seen in some time. aside from Borat of course....
