Some needy individual keeps me well entertained by continuously hacking my profile. Apologies, if I vanished again from everyone's friends' lists! The hacking experience proved to be exciting and a great opportunity to reconnect with many friends I haven't been in touch with recently; on the other hand befriending me again may be a waste of time!
Apparently some nasty correspondence or postings have been done under my name - my friends list and sent messages are erased, so I can't track what's transpired.
Among funny highlights of the hack were the "compromising" bits of information added to my profile:
gender: "I'd prefer not to say"
age: ranging wildly in both directions
location: "Memphis"
status: "in an open relationship"
gender preference "no preference"
religion: "atheist"
past positions: "whore"
LOL - our hacker must be a kindergarten-grade criminal to waste time on these innocent "insults."
All this to say - please ignore my erratic gender-confused Tribe persona if it shows up at your door with bad behavior!

Sun, January 6, 2008 - 10:50 AM...you'd think that Tribe administration could find and block the IP address of whomever is doing this. It sounds like some kind of immature, weirdo online stalker.....be careful!

Mon, January 7, 2008 - 1:55 PMthat REALLY sux rox... i am sorry to hear it happened again... :(
well, it has been my experience that the culprit usually knows you fairly well and has some prob with ya, because i could nae imagine it just being random... :\
OR
some silly-body does not change their passwords frequently enough or uses the same one for multiple accounts... which is the biggest hacker-enabling no-no ever taught...:(
maybe you should think about tracking this individual down? being me, there are many tools that i know of that can be used for tracking unsavoury individuals online... some legal and some not so... but results are all that count... :P

Re: Hacker Entertainment
Tue, January 8, 2008 - 8:55 AMKeith, thank you for your advice! It's true...I didn't change my passwords since my e-mail account was hacked back in spring - until the Dec. hack; same password for multiple accounts also applies to me... I need to learn better ways. It's just hard to keep in mind potential disasters when life is brimming with positive developments! Tracking them down - I guess it's our civic duty, but, again, the thought of the pettiness of whatever motif underlies their inept vendetta and the time and effort they invest in this ridiculous pursuit : Hard to mobilize oneself to waste time on these individuals. -

Re: Hacker Entertainment
Wed, January 9, 2008 - 2:27 PMJust be careful - whoever is hacking your account may not being doing it solely for amusement. Hacking can lead to identity theft - believe me, I found out the hard way. My business website was hacked last year and I didn't think much of it until I discovered (too late) that the monster who did it managed to unlock my personal information and, once that goal was accomplished, he/she proceeded to sell my identity to heaven only knows how many people from all over the United States and overseas. I'll spare you the bloody details but, trust me, it has been a nightmare ever since.

Re: Hacker Entertainment
Wed, January 16, 2008 - 12:47 PMMy account was hacked by a ticked off internet costume vendor and a HUGE amount of e-mails went out to every bellydance seemingly known to mankind that I was an exotic dancer looking for n(de dancers to join my company, and I named off several dancers who were already on board--Synari from Synari designs, Angel D'Morte, and a number of others. The HATE mail I got...
THEN I found out I had been listed as a male exotic dancer, then a transgendered dancer....It took me months to find them all, the police had to write letters to get them taken down...oy. -

Re: Hacker Entertainment
Fri, January 18, 2008 - 1:07 PMThere are some seriously disturbed people out there who think that kind of thing is funny. You are very lucky that the police could help remedy the situation. In my case, the SOB who stole my identity has never been caught and they haven't even been able to trace where the initial hack came from. All we know is that is was done by someone using an "unidentified off -shore server". Things had been "quiet" for months with no new credit cards having been opened in my name but.... about three weeks ago, I started getting obscene e-mails/ text messages on my cell phone and in my business e-mail. I reported it and the source was traced, once again, to an "unidentified off-shore server". I can only wonder if it's the same creep.
