Raqs America

Glad to say our first Raqs America turned out great even in a hurting economy. I was very happy with the high standard of the dancing on the open stage and at the auditions. I definately feel we found some new dancers who will make it to the BDSS at some point. The Washington area turns out to have many strong teachers with a variety of styles and certainly validates our choise of the Washington DC area for our annual East coast Raqs event. We will definately be carring on next year and into the forseeable future.

woohoo! I'll totally be back to audition next year! If theres one thing I've got plenty of, it's determination!

Thanks for a wonderful experience and a great event, Miles!

Yep! It was great to meet you, Miles, and Ashley and I are going to try to raise funds to come audition again in L.A. in September. We've learned a lot, got fantastic feedback and critique, and we're going to go hide in the studio in the meantime and work our butts off.

The vibe for Raqs America was intimate and surprisingly awesome. I was blown away by so many dancers, including Ela Rogers (get that girl on tour, she's so powerful and clean) and I was taken by surprise by Ebony. Why have I never heard of her before? Why is she not huge? She's ridiculously amazing.

Everyone was laid back, open and friendly, and we got a lot of great new friends and contacts out of this weekend. We will definitely be back next year.

It was an awesome event! I hope that it happens each year. Frankly, you could have used a larger space, but being that it is the first year we understood.
The show...OMG!! Was awesome. Not only was it one of the best BDSS shows I have seen, a few of the talents from the first half stood out tremendously and could have been serious contenders for BDSS membership:

    Ebony, Lotus, and Asharah.
How can we get these ladies on tour? They almost stole the show!

Thanks for the support. We are definately asking Evony to join the BDSS starting October. I too enjoyed the local dancers and was impressed how they 'stepped up to the plate' and delivered a great show. We chose to stay small first time and I am glad we did. We will grow in the future but at the moment we are working with the venue for some improvements to the big room so we can deliver a bigger show to more people so we will hold Raqs America there next year for sure.
