I'm fascinated with how you girls do those back bends on the floor. I was watching the youtube clip from the Ansuya show (part 1). There is a section with Amy, Wendy, and Anita doing those back bends....is that what you call them? What are some good strengthening exercises that you girls use to get to that point? Is it more in your legs or core or both? I want to do that!!! Its beautiful :)

Floorwork is one of those things that shouldn't be attempted without proper training in person. It's a risky thing, that can cause injury if done improperly, or if you have existing knee or back problems. Carolena hasn't done a video on it for that reason, nor do we attempt to teach it over the internet.
Hopefully, at some point there will be a workshop you can attend that will help you with floorwork!

Fri, January 11, 2008 - 3:09 PMI use a "pilates ball" to strengthen my core, several times a week, and I also do weight lifting for my thies to keep my knees alive through practice and shows. One can practice only the exact moves one wants to use, but I think I'd like to be just a little stronger than required, just in case. You do need both legs and core. Keep them fit. :D -

Fri, January 11, 2008 - 4:02 PMI once too FCBD Live video to my gym trainer and ask him to put together a workout for me so that I could do those backbends and floorwork. He did have me using the ball and lots of yoga for back strengthening. If you can't get to FCBD classes regularly maybe seek advice from a trainer. -
