Re: specific zil pattern
Mon, August 3, 2009 - 2:46 PMit's called the military zill pattern :)
it goes:
RLR*RLR*RLRLRLR*
the * indicate a pause.
basically, 2 alternating pattern followed by 7 singlets. :)
make sense?? Maybe one of the FCBD ladies can explain better *blush*

Re: specific zil pattern
Mon, August 3, 2009 - 2:51 PMmilitary.
RLR
RLR
RLRLRLR
Or, using Megha's mnemonic for it:
"an' a BUMP,
an' a BUMP,
an' a wig-a-wig-a-WIG." -

Re: specific zil pattern
Mon, August 3, 2009 - 4:48 PMFantastic!
I know that pattern...now to do the move with the zils. The fast three down with the hips always messes me up on the zils. That will be my focus tonite though.
Thanks so much ladies!!

Re: specific zil pattern
Mon, August 3, 2009 - 7:19 PMdang, i tried to write that so the RLR's would be directly under the counts, but tribe didn't want it that way, apparently. sorry -

Re: specific zil pattern
Thu, August 6, 2009 - 1:51 PMEmily, how do you apply the military pattern to double back. Am I remembering from volume 7 that Megha says those go together? -

Re: specific zil pattern
Sat, August 8, 2009 - 6:38 AMPlease correct me because this is how I do it and I have no one to show me otherwise.
not a technical explanation but...
At first - If you zil the 123* as you step right, 123* as you step Left (your arms are splitting R over head/ L front or R sweeping/ Llifting overhead as the case is in the next part of the step)
You zill the 1234567 as only when your hip 'double bumps' to the back! on either sides!! This works perfectly as you Q to turn by looking over your right shoulder, you are doing the 123* part (even during the turn) as your arms are still splitting or sweeping. You are doing the 1234567 again as your alternate hip at the back is 'double bumping' to the back.
Any help or tips with this correcting this is appreciated as I have my GS in October!! :-) -

Re: specific zil pattern
Mon, August 10, 2009 - 3:33 AMMy explanation - using the stepping and hip bumps to pinpoint the counting for the military pattern goes like this
123
RLR - you step on your right on 3(R)
123
RLR - you step on your left on 3(R)
1234567, you bump right hip at the back on 3 and 7
RLRLRLR
123 - you step on your left on 3(R)
RLR
123 - you step on your right on 3(R)
RLR
1234567 , you bump lert hip to the back on 3 and 7
RLRLRLR
Hope this is correct. Am still recovering from the fantastic Tribal Mosaic Winter Retreat. 6 workshops, 2 yoga classes, 1 concert, 1 massage and a henna session in one and a half days, plus 7 hours driving has left me feeling giddy pleasure and tired.
Cheers, Susan

Tue, August 11, 2009 - 7:58 PMZina, to be honest, I'm not sure, since I don't know all the FCBD terms for movements...but Rhea seems to have it...
