Converting A Friend

I'm trying to decide which episode of Father Ted is the funniest, so that I may be able to convert a friend. The first episode *I* ever saw was "A Song for Europe" and thought it was hysterically funny, but I thought I'd ask you guys to weigh in with your favorite episodes.

Off the top of my head, I can't remember which one had Father Ted reading Tekwar...

We don't CONVERT people. People who convert people run around in strange outfits quoting the gospel trying to enlighten people, while we...never mind.

talk about some people who know their ted! this group is so quick.

        so many episodes are brilliant!
put in the holy trinity and let it loop.
we thought it was a totally tight plan however, a friend's wife, (who was not catholic), was very offended. we were never looked at the same.

slightly related: "the boys and girl from county claire", is a movie that guest stars frank kelly and the actor that was "pat mustard". it was so mind boggling to see "father jack" announce the winners of the ceili band competition and not say his mantra.

You ne'er know who's going to like it! So far, everyone I've shown it to has gotten into it (my father LOVES Chirpy Burpy Cheap Sheep, and is always referring to himself as "Father Stone") EXCEPT this person I'm trying to convert. I only showed him the first episode though, so maybe he'll come around.

Oh, and Tekwar is from "Night of the Nearly Dead".

I'll definitely check out the movie! Rosanne (also on this board) and I saw Ardal O'Hanlon perform in "See You Next Tuesday" in London, which was quite a treat, although he was more or less playing Dougal all over again. We wanted to meet him afterwards but foolishly waited too long to catch him.

For those who may be offended, might I suggest that you mention to them that Father Ted is the most popular show with the actual catholic Irish clergy of all time. Even more than that Michael Landon shite show. I have had a few aghast looks and uncomfortable glances from people I have turned on to Ted, but Ted and Dougal and Jack and Mrs. Doyle got me through making 30 movies in 30 days, a shot over every credit sequence. No one comes out of a Father Ted experience without being a little bit better. And if they are offended, well, that's probably good for them, a little examination of one's beliefs. Like, for example, I don't know if there's a god, I mean, WHO DOES? And the whole heaven and hell and all that is a real puzzler as well.......

Really? Even more than Ballykiss Angel? I wonder if they get all the subtle jokes, like about "Ghost Town" and "Oasis or Blur?"

Then again, there are even some jokes *I* don't get, so...Chess or Buckaroo?
