Thu, October 27, 2005 - 5:11 PMOOh, I haven't seen that. So far I haven't seen a good US counterpart to a UK show, ever. Ok, "Sanford and Son" might be an exception, but it depends on who you're asking.
But I don't that it would make it all the way to the air in the US. Yanks get more offended when you poke fun at religion. We tend to put certain people on a pedestal--stars, clergy, politicians, humanitarians, scientists--and of course, we're shocked (and titillated) when they reveal their humanity, especially in ugly ways.
Father Ted, Vicar of Dibley, Ballykiss Angel--all show us clergypeople (how's that for a nice PC word?) being human. I imagine, though can't confirm, that in Ireland/England, people are a little more comfortable with that. Sexuality, too. But that's off topic... :P

i will boycott an american version, much like i boycotted the american version of coupling (which lasted all of like three episods before being canceled) and the office...america is always searching for the next 3's company...
