Does anyone know where I can find cute *affordable* tribal fusion dance pants? Melodias are totally out of reach, and even $40 is steep. I know of one site that has cute pants for about $25 but they don't let you do exchanges or returns. So can anyone point me to pants for $25-35 dollars (USD) from a vendor who will let me do an exchange if I get them and they don't fit?
Help! I need something besides plain yoga pants! And I can't sew!
I am completely okay with gently used clothing.
Oh, at Target I found these, like, *gaucho* pants in really soft cotton (sleepwear). I wore them to class and they worked.

Re: cheap-ass smarty pants!
Wed, May 14, 2008 - 12:26 PMI found some palazzo pants on ebay I've been eyeing to buy.
They are cheap and fine on their own but cheap enough I wouldn't be afraid to cut the side seam up to the knees or try to do the garter look with.
The garter look I love but no way in hell am I trying that on my melo's.. eeep..

Wed, May 14, 2008 - 12:40 PMTo be honest, I have considered dancing in my goth/industrial bondage pants, but they don't give me the range of motion I need. -

Re: cheap-ass smarty pants!
Wed, May 14, 2008 - 1:39 PMI'm going to list all the places I know that do fauxlodias or similar dance pants. I unfortunately don't know their exact prices, but it'll give you a start anyway.
Desert Dancer
Earth Mother Creations (on Tribe and Etsy)
Dahlal (gets them from Silvex, though, so ehhhhh)
L Rose Designs
Mayyyyyyybe Moondance? I'm not entirely sure, but they have a huge variety of stuff at great prices.
Keep in mind that every now and then on the Melos tribe, girls sell their used Melos for really, really cheap. Never hurts to keep looking. :) -

Re: cheap-ass smarty pants!
Wed, May 14, 2008 - 2:08 PMOne must remember...
you get what you pay for.
That 4 way stretch cotton lycra is NOT cheap, It takes time to get the "right" size and fit as well.
Moondance has nothing but crap. (I've been to the store) mass produced low quality items that fall apart quickly... or the dye comes off on ones hands with a small ammt of sweat.
Desert Dancer is good... I've heard great things about them. (and they are $45)
I can make them, but not for $40 (i am way too small time)
but... I agree with Amber... check on the melodia tribe, and the melodia swap tribe... people are ALWAYS selling them for CHEEP! -

Thu, May 15, 2008 - 9:12 PMGood to know about Moondance. Their prices DID seem a little too good to be true... -

Re: cheap-ass smarty pants!
Thu, May 15, 2008 - 10:42 PMI get alot of my stuff through moondance, and so far, nothing but nice, good quality items at low costs...Most of the girls in my area buy from them because they are so reasonable, and the quality really has been good for us so far.

Re: cheap-ass smarty pants!
Wed, May 14, 2008 - 3:15 PMThe Desert Dancer pants I've seen on a friend and compared up next to my melo's, they are very nice pants but still a bit over the price range here for Slade.
Those one's on ebay I have no idea about quality as I haven't bought any yet ( anyone have some they have gotten from there yet? )but at that price 1 pair to check out isn't bad and if they are decent... heck of deal for 5 pair. Only downfall I saw is no returns.. : /

Re: cheap-ass smarty pants!
Wed, May 14, 2008 - 6:49 PMI hate to say it, but at that price you're talking about made-in-China and mass-produced. No smallish western manufacturer can cover their costs for such a low retail price. Unless you luck out and find a used pair, or find some really wide-leg yoga pants and then have them taken in on the thigh, I think you're out of luck.

Wed, May 14, 2008 - 8:38 PM"cheap-ass smarty pants"
Oh for a minute there I thought you were talking about me. Scottish and sarcastic.
But wait. Check out the Melodia Swap tribe. I don't have the link but you should be able to find it. You might have something you can trade for a gently used pair of Melos. Or who knows, someone may need your expert legal advise for a new pair, or 5....
I'm just saying.

Re: cheap-ass smarty pants!
Thu, May 15, 2008 - 10:39 PMThose are super-cute wrap pants..but I don't think they'd fit my bodacious behind.:(
That sucks 'cause boy would I love to have some silk ones. -
-
Re: cheap-ass smarty pants!
Fri, May 16, 2008 - 2:44 AM... I have ahem... cough cough... 40 inchs of bodacious behind and the larges fit me with good cover... I like the mediums too for a slightly more suacy look... it still covers but it does have a bit more tendency to flip open a bit.
(took the L to class and only almost flashed someone doing our plie squat things and our lunges... other than that no issue ( soooo 5-6 inches of overlap for me I guess numerically speaking)
(just for referance if you needed a first hand opinion and someone w/ a bigger boot-ey -
