I just got home from my BF's house. I went straight to my laptop to see what youse guys were buzzing about. I see my screen is very dim. I do what comes naturally...problem solve. Check power supply. Check cord. Make sure everything is connected. Still dim. Getting anxious.
Reboot.
Come back up...screen is still dim. Anxiety increasing.
I check my control panel, power settings, all looks good. WTF? Medicating anxiety with leftover Halloween chocolate.
I could tell when I got home that my dog (yes, Mr. Curly, the one who had 6 teeth pulled last week) was up on my table (PC speaker was knocked over). So it appears that he SOMEHOW managed to dim my screen. How?
OK...check laptop for buttons I don't usually tinker with. OK...that little blue "fn" button... plus F10 (has a picture that can be described as "light going up." AHHHH...the little stinker...he must have somehow pressed down and held that little blue "fn" key and hit F9 (to dim). Now in a chocolate-induced coma.
He's lucky he's cute. That's why I keep him.

Mon, November 9, 2009 - 7:46 AMMy Asperger Cat's most infamous shenanigan: opening the fuse panel thing & standing on the only switch that went up to down, thus turning out power to my kitchen.
Once, he also stood on my lap as I was on my laptop & when I turned my head for a second, somehow (i'm totally not kidding) navigated to icanhascheeseburger.com! It's one of my bookmarks & I guess the cursor thing was right over it & he stepped on the trackpad or something. I don't know. I like to pretend it was intentional. -

Mon, November 9, 2009 - 9:44 AMpets are inheritly jealous of computers. if you are on line, then you are not feeding, peting me! Pete wants to be feed & petted at the same time & Scruffy always sat on the wireless keyboard no matter where my boyfriend put it. -

Re: He's lucky he's cute...
Mon, November 9, 2009 - 12:46 PMOne of my cats knows exactly how to jump up onto the laptop.. in the seconds that I leave it up and running around her.. and tromp on some button that disables the wireless card.. I haven't yet been able to find the button to re-able it so its always the big reboot.. the puter not the kitty.. though i think about it... -

Mon, November 9, 2009 - 3:02 PMI think Asperger's Kitty might need a reboot, actually. I wish I could figure out how to do that. -

Mon, November 9, 2009 - 4:21 PMMinuet has:
launched the help program
put on number lock
typed and sent wrong information to customers
turned my computer off
and when all else fails
stepped on the lid and closed the laptop
She is opinionated. -

Mon, November 9, 2009 - 8:28 PMMy dogs are Fox and Curly. I just have a tendency to go formal when addressing them... therefore... Mr. Fox and Mr. Curly. -

Re: He's lucky he's cute...
Tue, November 10, 2009 - 9:57 AMA while back, my cat actually bid and WON a set of hair flowers on ebay while I was out for a walk.
He bid $89.89 for them! I'm lucky the competing bidders didn't try to go that high!!
I try to believe he was just trying to help me out, but you can't be too sure of a cat.

Tue, November 10, 2009 - 1:02 PMI started growing some cherry tomato plants clear last spring. They have been growing in a Topsy Turvy planter for months and the tomatoes are getting bigger and finally some started turning red. Now my dog Sally dearly loves maters but she hadn't paid any attention to the plant and dogs are colored blind and she does a terrible job of picking which blackberries are ripe soooo.. i decided to leave the tomatoes on the plant just one more day.. Later that day she came strolling in off the porch licking her retriever chops looking oh so pleased.. Guess what she found.. and snarfed.. two loverly ripe cherry tomatoes... right off the vine.. gawwwwddddd.. is she lucky she's cute.. -

Re: He's lucky he's cute...
Tue, November 10, 2009 - 1:40 PMI've been thinking about getting one of those topsy turvy things for growing tomatoes and bell peppers so the outside cats don't use my plants as a litter box. they've already killed several of my plants. I can't be to mad at them because they didn't chose to have their momma dumped. Of the 3 babies and mama, only 2 of the babies have stayed, the twins (thing 1 & thing 2) and every once in awhile I'll see the 3rd sibling Midnight. I've been putting off buying one because I wasn't sure about them but it sounds like your having success. -

Re: He's lucky he's cute...
Wed, November 11, 2009 - 9:19 AMyah they work great. Tomatoes don't grow well where i live but i have a porch on the south side of my house with all windows on the south side and a brick floor for added heat. i did have an issue with one of the kittys jumping on top of it to use it as a perch ... found it on the floor so i had to start all over with new mater starts and make SURE its securely bolted into the wall. I wasn't sure what i was going to do about the mater loving dog but one of my clients suggested bird netting... so i'm on the way to the hardware store to get some today...I grew tomatoes out on the porch once before in a big pot.. but i ended up with a tomato jungle on the porch.. These are growing great and producing lots of tomatoes in a much more contained way... good luck
