OK, names are changed to protect ...well, ME.

There is a local bellydancer who fancies herself as the Queen Bee of bellydance, who I happen to think is highly overrated. She rarely supports other dancers events. In the 14 years I have been bellydancing in my area, I have seen her show up at ONE event that she wasn't dancing at. But she has no problems lamenting to others about how she needs more people to support her events, etc.
*insert world's tiniest violin here*
So every year she does an annual big bellydance show and invites ALL of the local dancers to participate. I have never been interested until this year, because there is a Tribal group being led by a dancer I think is a cool person. So I thought I would participate.
UNTIL I read the "fine print."
There are 7 rehearsals between now and the event.
The "rehearsals" cost $100 and you are not allowed to dance in the show unless you attend the rehearsals. WTF?!?!?!!??!?!?!??!!!!
Is it me or is this ASININE!?!?!?!
Pay to play??? And who gets the profit? Oh, gee....I wonder.

if you were taking a workshop, I can understand you having to pay for play, thats everywhere, but if you're invited, why should you pay $700 to rehearse with her when you can rehearse for free at your house?!?! Did she invite you or is this voluntary (sp)?
