I know we've been over this topic many times in the past I just want to say that my boobs are in a lot of pain which means I'm going to get it in a few days. I don't care so much about that, but my boobs are so PAINFUL! I ran a 10k race this morning and that might explain why it feels like they are hurting more than usual today, but wow, ooowwwwie, they hurt :( Does this happen to anyone else around the worst time of the month? How do you deal with it?
Thanks in advance for anything and everything

Re: My poor boobies :(
Mon, May 5, 2008 - 5:30 AMIt only happens to me when I get preggo. And then I'm of the, "Don't even hug me!" mindset. Hope your tatas feel better soon!

Re: My poor boobies :(
Mon, May 5, 2008 - 7:21 AMI double up on sports bras. It seems (this hasn't been medically tested so it may just be my perception) but it seems to me this pulls them in extra close so they don't bounce as much. Ibuprofin for swelling and that 's about it. Hope you feel better soon! -

Re: My poor boobies :(
Mon, May 5, 2008 - 8:36 AMMine get really sore just before THAT time too. I do the same thing as Katrina. I tend to use a sports bra thats more bra-like for the first one and wear a shapeless, but effective one over it.

Re: My poor boobies :(
Mon, May 5, 2008 - 8:14 AMGiving them a massage also helps. Ibuprofen and plenty of water. But really, the massage deep into the tissue really works for me during horrible ta-ta pain.
Now for some boob humor:
I saw a bumper sticker yesterday that said, "Save the ta-tas" in bold, black letters over a breast cancer ribbon. Loved it. I have to get one, now.

Re: My poor boobies :(
Mon, May 5, 2008 - 8:47 AMused to happen to me alot.... I find large doses of evening primrose works like a dream, not for everyone I know but worth a try if you haven't already...
on a weirder note, I still get the let down reflex sometimes when I hear a baby crying and my son is 17, how strange is that!!

Re: My poor boobies :(
Mon, May 5, 2008 - 9:53 AMThat used to happen to me until I decided to go permanently on the Pill. The only things that helped were sports bras that held everything firmly in place (sometimes I wore 1 size smaller to keep everything from jigglin') and Dong Quai herbal supplements. -

Re: My poor boobies :(
Mon, May 5, 2008 - 4:23 PMYou're supposed to avoid caffeine when you're PMS'ing. That's supposed to make the tenderness worse. I could never truly give up my caffeine, though. Mine would get tender, too-sometimes for al long as ten days before I started my period. That was my early warning signal. I had cysts that would swell and hurt in the breast tissue up near my armpit. I solved that problem by going on Depo-Provera. I know it has its drawbacks, but the no period thing is wonderful. It took a damn year or so, this time, for the montlhy's to disappear though. I was about to give up. I've heard good things about evening primrose, like some of the other's said, but I think it takes awhile to kick in. Calcium and magnesium are supposed to help with PMS too, but I don't know if they'll cover breast tenderness. You could have fibrocystic tissue in there. Have you discussed it with the doc? -

Re: My poor boobies :(
Mon, May 5, 2008 - 4:26 PMGod, I have the same problem with premenstrual tenderness! Of course, I'm heavily addicted to caffeine as well... *snort*
Although, the idea of the Mirena IUD and its common side effect of periodlessness is very appealing... -
-
Re: My poor boobies :(
Mon, May 5, 2008 - 4:37 PMMirena kind of scares me, just because they're inserting something through the cervix and into the uterus. But it is supposed to be wonderful if you're a good candidate. Not having a period is truly wonderful, though. No hormonal tides to ride out. I honestly never noticed my caffeine intake, or lack thereof, affecting the cysts one way or another. According to the doc's, however, it makes everything worse. If I cut the caffeine, all I ever noticed was feeling the same, plus having a nasy headache, to boot. -

Re: My poor boobies :(
Mon, May 5, 2008 - 4:46 PMA couple years ago I was on the Seasonale pill, and I was naughty and skipped even the placebos so I was perma-period-free! It was sooooo nice. I don't really remember why I stopped, but I did, and I haven't been on BC of any sort since. I'm not too worried about the getting-with-child part (kinda hard when you're a girl with a girl, y'know?!) but my periods drive me NUTS! They're not even half as bad as poor Laura's, but still, they suck.
I really just need to get off my arse and do something about it. There's a Planned Parenthood just a few blocks away from me, so I really have no excuse!

Re: My poor boobies :(
Mon, May 5, 2008 - 4:50 PMI have a Mirena and it's fabulous!
It was a little uncomfortable to have put in, but that only lasted a few hours.

Mon, May 5, 2008 - 5:29 PM"I solved that problem by going on Depo-Provera. I know it has its drawbacks, but the no period thing is wonderful."
I agreed with all those sentiments until Depo dropped me into pre-menopause at the ripe old age of 24. Just a heads up ladies, for those who have not yet experienced the joy of pre-menopause.. Night sweats and hot flashes suck major donkey dick. I thought I had cancer or something.
Had to go back on the pill to re-regulate my hormones, but at least I'm not menopausal anymore. -

Re: My poor boobies :(
Mon, May 5, 2008 - 6:44 PMHow long were you on it? Depo is very good at supressing your normal hormonal cycles. So good that it does take a long time you get back to normal. Sometimes up to a year and a half. So I'm not surprised that it could have thrown you into pre-menopause. My cycle was already screwy, though. I went from being fairly regular every 28-30 days or so, to starting every 21 days, then to every couple weeks. It sucked. Maybe it was perimenopause anyway. I'm now 39 years young. My mom was close to 50 before going into menopause, though, so I'm not sure. That's why I went back to Depo. Starting every two weeks was awful. I guess the lesson here is that no one thing works for everybody. I can't take the pill because I'm over 35, smoke, and have had a blood clot. It was superficial, not deep vein, but the docs won't risk it. I've thought about having my tubes tied, but that doesn't take care of the hormonal part. -

Re: My poor boobies :(
Wed, May 7, 2008 - 6:42 AMI was on Depo for 5 years, during which time I had no periods...not even spotting. Fortunately, once they put me back on the pill, my cycle regulated immediately

Re: My poor boobies :(
Mon, May 5, 2008 - 8:42 PMUsually I just curl up into the fetal position and whimper. Oddly enough I found setting them free was actually more comfortable than strapping them in, except for sleeping. It's always just before and during my period, but never consistently, so its always an unpleasant bonus when it happens. Even the water from the shower hurts and heaven help him when the SO even looks at them.... -

Re: My poor boobies :(
Mon, May 5, 2008 - 8:55 PMIt may sound crazy, but maybe ice? A couple of bags of frozen peas (ones you label DO NOT EAT) make great ice packs. That, along with Advil and avoiding caffeine hopefully will help. Hope the boobies feel better soon!!! -

Re: My poor boobies :(
Tue, May 6, 2008 - 11:09 PMi have an iud and still have my period like clock work. what kind are you wanting to get? there are hormonal ones and none hormonal. i have a simple copper one with no hormones because i can't handle the hormone side effects.
you should do plenty of research before getting one. and expect to hurt shitty bad the first month after you get it. after my first month it was all golden for me. but that month i just wanted to die. ugh
