I had just opened the window & put scruffie on his blanket saying my goodbyes, when the phonecall came, Honey, the vet says he has feline aids, not liver cancer. the vet was very sympathetic, & Scruffie went peacefully. Les & I buried him under a tree, & I can't believe my baby cat is gone, I've had a good 7yrs with him, & I'll never forget he never purred till he met me. we are having a wake & eating his favorite food, Pizza with sausage, & I'm sure he would've cracked a beer open if he could.

Re: gone?
Wed, October 28, 2009 - 11:43 AMMy deepest sympathies. :0(
A wake is a great idea, we did that when our old man cat passed last year. Ate his favorite foods (Frenchfries and icecream) toasted him with his favorite drink (rootbeer and rum). It's a wonderful way to celebrate the good memories.
As I once said to a friend when she lost her cat:
It doesn't matter that they don't speak english and wash themselves in spit, they love us unconditionally and with their whole little fuzzy hearts. We're allowed to grieve for the loss. -

Wed, October 28, 2009 - 12:14 PMyea, I'll lways remember the one time I threw away half a slice of a pizza in the living room trash, he got to it & knocked over that trashcan for months afterwards, nobody loved to eat more than him. -

Re: gone?
Wed, October 28, 2009 - 9:53 PMHold on to those warm memories Emma--I'm quite sure he knows that he was cherished, and that he now knows how dearly he will be missed. (((((((((((((((Emma))))))))))))))) Allow yourself as much time as you need to both mourn your wonderful kitty-- hold his memory close. It hurts but it also warm the soul. I know I still miss each and every kitty I've ever loved and lost--they rapidly become fuzzy little family members.
