This morning Don and I "Closed" on our New House!
After 7 weeks of "angst" ..buying a NEW House is a Bitch LOL...the Deal is DONE!
We move into it this coming Monday! Yayyyy! No More Rentals...we OWN it now!

I am a homeowner now myself. I moved into a house with my sister, sharing a mortgage on a house together. She lives on the top half, I live in the basement. What a relief this is after a decade of putting up with abusive, alcoholic, drug addicted and psychopathic room-mates and neighbors, not to mention lying, abusive, bullying, crooked landlords who constantly use the threat of eviction like a cudgel to keep you in line.
It's so nice to actually OWN the property where you live. When something goes wrong you can fix it yourself, and not have to rely on lazy, crooked landlords to criminally ignore their legal obligations to fix the property, or break into your apartment when you aren't there to snoop around, while using their power as a landlord to harass, threaten and intimidate you. -

It's great to OWN IT and James you are SO RIGHT about them fuckin landlords! In 36 yrs of being an Apartment and House "Renter" Iv'e had E'M ALL!
What pisses me off(and Don,who has only been a Renter for about 17 yrs) are all the damn RULES!
No smoking
No pets
No parties
No overnight guest's
Only YOUR Car in the driveway
Etc Etc Etc!!
by the time they are done listing the "No's on your "Lease Aggreement"... there are very few "Yes's" left!
You don't end up "living" in your RENTAL.. you only "exist" in it!
In your own Home YOU dont have "Rules" just a few common-sense Guidelines each of you stick by such as:
Considering the value of Don's fine furnishings here I'd no more eat something on one of his Sofa's than I would piss on them and so forth!
The great thing is,we both are handy with TOOLS and can do extensive renovating! We are even planning on moving a few Walls to make two of the rooms larger! We both have the same Idea's about what WE want to do with the new House!
08 is "My year"! a New Man.. a New House and a New Life!

That first house is FUN isn't it? All the waiting, all the worrying, all the WORK, and then that final relief of knowing it's really yours. I did that for the first time a few years ago... oddly enough moving in with the person who became my partner. The house may need new paint now and the lawn may be too long a lot of the time, but the cat population exploded and (3 instead of 1) and it's so nice not to have to worry about which one of us can't be seen because we're not supposed to be there, etc. I'm really happy to year about this year being so good for you. -

And you are SO right about any new house needing "work done on it".
We bought my Partner Don's eldest Son's home. and Andy bought a larger home for his Wife and their Kids. With a working Wife and three children under age 9,Andy's home has "suffered a bit" and needs some work!
The upper level is nice and just needs a little paint and refinishing of the Hardwood Floors,The basement level needs remodeling and we plan to "move a few walls" and create larger rooms down there and install a second full Bathroom....soooo..it's a good thing we are both handy with Tools becuase this next 15 months we have some work to do to make this house our "Retirement Castle"!
Thats the greatest thing about OWNING your home..you can do whatever you like to make it "perfect for you"!
Thats COOL that you moved in with your partner and then bought the home you were in! We had the "Option" presented to us by our Current Landlord of Purchasing the Rental Home we are in now,but it doesn't fit our needs and is simply too small and has a lot of inneficient use of space(but a BIG yard!).I can't WAIT till Monday....MOVING Day! Many thanks to all my TRIBE Friends for your encouragement and support! -

The funny thing is, the order of events went like this. 1. Make friends. 2. Move in together. (Well, squat on airport property anyway) 3. Buy the house. I was going to anyway but let her move in because she was homeless. 4. Become best friends. 5. Realized we were partners!

I met Don when he spotted me in an uhm..well...Kinky Photograph out on the net somewhere..and then...spotted that same Picture of me on a Gay Website and HE contacted Me! We were only supposed to Trick for a Night in my Sling back in Tacoma(he was in Shoreline WA) BUT...I knew that night we'd be forever partnered! That was 9 months ago! Surprising how time FLIES By and "things develop" LOL! now we are gonna do what he suggested..."Grow OLD together in our new House"!

The partnership is weird because it's been kinda sneaking up on both of us with no defining moment that lets me say "we weren't partners at this point, and at this point we are." But that's okay, I guess, I can work on my unhealthy addiction to ceremonies. *grin* So yeah, me and the Ninja Housemate are, like, going to build another house together and very probably grow old together. Not the way I thought my life was going to go, but parts of it are so much better than I had hoped. (Now... if only to find work...)
And Jake, I really hope that things are continuing to go well. I didn't mean to hijack your thread. Honest. -
