has anyone ever vended at bumbershoot in seattle?
www.bumbershoot.org
i'd love to hear feedback, experiences, etc about vending there.
it seems like a good opportunity because the lineup is great and the turnout is massive
i'm thinking about skipping the burn this year and if i'm not going to go to the playa then i want to make money somewhere
it appears that the vending setup is on the street so i am not sure how secure the vending spaces would be at night after the venues close.
any feedback is appreciated.
thanks!
:)
p.s. if you are interested in vending there i called their office today and despite the deadlines indicated online for applying being a long time ago, there are still ample spaces available for vendors

Re: bumbershoot
Thu, July 24, 2008 - 8:24 PMHI Dwan,
We're doing Bumbershoot again this year. How to summarize?...Don't go too far out of your way to do it. It's a great show but the sales are what I would describe as moderate to weak. They've done a great job reinventing their handcrafted artists section with indie style. We've done the imports section as well as the handcrafted artists section and for whatever reason it's just not what it used to be. Write me for more info if you like. Hope Emerg+n+see was beautiful for you! If you choose Bumbershoot we'll look forward to seeing you there! I hear the stadium area sucks, just heresay but I believe it.

Re: bumbershoot
Mon, August 25, 2008 - 1:39 PMI ran the first coffee cart at Bumbershoot for years (before being pushed out by the Corporate giants) then I worked for a food vendor for the next 12 years
I've never vended crafts - but I know lots of the vendors
and - most of them say they do just okay - I mean - they do a lot of sales, but not quite like you'd expect for the massive amount of people that attend
I also know that sales used to be better when it was cheaper for people to attend - now the entry fee is outrageous
