I'm applying for this one, myself. It makes me drool:

"Each year dozens of artists from across the United States, and many from around the world, travel to the open hillsides and deep redwood forests of SMIP Ranch to take inspiration from the beautiful surroundings and seek refuge from the distractions of the outside world. While in residence, the artists work in peaceful isolation within a supportive community of fellow artists and Program staff, and thrive on the intellectual stimulation and collegial interaction that comes from living in this close-knit community."

  • that sounds great and all but what about inner city artists..people that thrive on inspiration from the chaos..
So Im working on ideas of turning a dead downtown (New Albany, IN) into artist haven... New albany is right across from
Louisville KY. and has tons of potential but it just needs the right kick in the ass...any ideas... so far a street fair using abandoned
store front properties as canvases is in the works..but help is needed
    • I got what is called the 'Mary Foote Fellowship'.
(a paid stay, food & stipend at the Mary Anderson artist colony in Indiana)

      So I found this:
"Mary Foote Fellowship Deadline: January 1
The Mary Foote Fellowship for a visual artist offers a 10-day residency at the Mary Anderson Center for the Arts, an artists’ colony in southern Indiana on 400 acres of meadows, woods and large lake owned by Mount St. Francis friary, only 15 minutes from Louisville, KY. Residency must be completed by June 30, 2007. "

      and applied by the deadline.
