Body & Face Painting Fine Art Nude Photography Workshop in San Francisco on April 19

We have put together a truly special theme for our April workshop.

A Body and Face Painting Fine Art Nude Photography Workshop with 3 great looking models.
Alison is the person who will be doing the face and body painting as well as the makeup.
She has been doing this for many years and does some really innovative and colorful effects.
Everyone is certain to get some outstanding shots for their portfolios or websites.

In addition, the studio owner is putting up a lot of lights with colored gels on both the backgrounds and the models.

Who Should Attend: We already have reservations from both Men and Women photographers and you can shoot with a digital or film camera.

new model needs TFP work to creat portfolio

I have no idea how this works so if I'm out of line, please forgive. I'm interested in getting into nude modeling and was told to start with TFP work in order to create a portfolio for my upcoming audition. So here I am. Keep in mind that a week ago I had no idea what TFP stood for so when I say I'm new, I mean I'm new. if you'd like to work with me or perhaps give me some suggestions or guidance, please contact me. My tribe page has pictures so you can get a basic idea of what I look like. I am a flight attendant so my schedule is kinda tricky but I have weekends off in Nov. and Dec. My audition is in January so I need to get this moving kinda quickly. I'm very professional at whatever I do, you won't be disappointed. Let me know if you can help me.

The movie's called Aberrant Behavior, a term the Motion Picture Association of America uses to describe any content in a film that isn't classifiable as violence or sexuality but is bizarre enough to warrant a severe rating and this one has tons of it. It's about two street kids suffering from pica, a rare psychological disorder that, in real life, compels people to ingest things that aren't actually edible like dirt, coffee grounds, nails, etc. But we take it to a fantastical level with the main characters getting high off anything they can get their hands on like drano, bleach, antifreeze, etc. and use it as a metaphor for drug addiction and alcoholism. The main characters fall into a codependent and self destructive relationship using each other to exercise their demons of alienation from society but ultimately destroy themselves in the end. Think Leaving Las Vegas if it was a Troma film, Sid and Nancy on acid...you get the picture.

If this sounds like something you'd be in to, ask yourselves these questions...

Do you love cult films? Horror films? Horror-romance film? Drugged out films?
Do you love gore? Debauchery?
Do you love fucked up extreme or trashy films in general? Do you really want to star in one?
Do you live/can work in the bay area?
Can you start working immediately? I mean immediately.
Are you okay with nudity/sexuality and some bizarre and disgusting behavior?
(It's called Aberrant Behavior, after all)
Maybe you prefer it?
Are you not shy? Maybe a little bit of an exhibitionist?
Do you have a pretty open schedule to start shooting?

Can you work for 125 dollars a day plus food and a negotiated percentage of the profits?

Can you do basic make up for your part and the other lead? That'd be a bonus for us.

We're shooting this movie in at least two parts over the next three to four months. Will that work for you?

Are you serious about this type of work? We are!

No vague/flakey responses will be considered. If your interested in auditioning, get back to us and we'll set up an audition at our set at 7th and howard in the SOMA.

Art vs Eat

To Edit or Not to Edit. I am always caught between the two worlds. unless I am going for a specific fantasy feel the purist part in me wants to keep it very natural (as I took it so shall it be) , the needing to feed myself practical part tends to pull me towards editing skin flaws so the subject will more likely buy my work. Are others out there ever caught by this dilemma? How do you make your choice?

Model Consent Forms

Good morning all,
I have been doing a lot of shooting at local events and such for awhile now. Most of my stuff is quite amateurish IMO but I recently got a Nikon D40 and several people asked me after posting my photos out if i would do model shoots for them. I said I would try but consent forms would be needed. Now I am looking for a good model consent form that encompasses also some fetish and bondage shoots into it. I have been reading this tribe for awhile and figured this way would be best way to say hi and thanks for all advice given over past couple years. You can see my shots here:

appropriate vs. inappropriate

I recently had a photo shoot with an amateur photographer, we were doing a trade, photos for his portfolio, and copies for me. I am 8 months pregnant, and was really looking forward to getting some good semi-nude and nude shots of my pregnant body. But this guy put his hands on me during the shoot. Now I have had professional shots taken a few times, and I never had anyone touch my body so blatantly before. It made me very uncomfortable. Do you ever consider it acceptable or appropriate to touch a model's body, and in what situations is it acceptable?

Auditions- Aberrant Behavior- Saturday June 7th @ Mamma Buzz in Oakland arts district

I am having auditions for my new movie "Aberrant Behavior" Saturday June Seventh at Mamma Buzz Cafe in downtown Oaklands Art District 2318 Telegraph Ave from 4-6PM. I have already casted some of the roles and have people working on it, I just have not cast all of them yet and of course the female lead.

There will be some paid roles (of course the leads) but this is a low budget (around 25-35,000 or so) affair so it won't be a whole lot. Just to warn you.

Aberrant Behavior, is basically a love story about two self destructive anarchistic-y street kids who have an exaggerated form of pica, a disorder where people feel compelled to eat non-food materials, carpet, dirt, soap, drano, various chemicals, etc. as portrayed as a drug addiction. They have a very co-dependent relationship and with there disorders too , they literally destroy each other.

There's more to it, but that's the basic synopsis. If you can't make it to the auditions, you can send me a head shot with resume, or whatever you want. We can then decide when and where to meet.

THERE WILL BE SOME SEXUALITY AND NUDITY FOR THE TWO LEADS, AS WELL AS MISTY AND FOGGY TO A LESSER DEGREE. PLEASE DO NOT CONTACT ME FOR THOSE ROLES, IF YOUR NOT COMFORTABLE WITH THAT. THANK YOU.

I will be hiring for many roles, all ages (over 18) races, sizes, etc. But here are the main characters:
Main Characters:

LEADS:
Victor Muertos: (Mid to late twenties) Half Mexican/Half white (Half latino/half white will probably work). Black hair, down to chin and five o clock shadow. (Flexible though). Tall and thin but not too thin. Dark, brooding, depressed, prone to long winded sarcastic, cynical rants. Living off the state for mental depression, and addiction, but eventually breaks himself from the state. He hates the state, and normal life in general. He hates almost everything. He is sort of sloppy hipster, slightly emo, slight slight slight goth meets street kid. Light or no body mod, piercings, etc. He eventually lives on the street because of choice.He falls in love with Aiko. SOME NUDITY AND SEXUALS SITUATIONS REQUIRED-CAST

Aiko Zumbi (18-early twenties or look like it) Half Japanese/Half German (or Japanese, or half Japanese/Half white). Shorter than Victor, thin but still slightly curvy.
Street kid with a bit of dark hippie. Has been sexually abused as a child. Prone to violence. Prone to long winded rants, or sometimes just total silence. Dark, cynical, with a very bleak view of life. Body mods, tattoo's, piercings, fine. Dreaded or colored hair fine as well. Actually preffered. She falls in love with Victor. SOME NUDITY AND SEXUAL SITUATIONS REQUIRED.

SUPPORTING LEADS:
Pedida Muertos- (20's -40's)-Mexican- Victor's nearly catatonic - mute drug addict mother, who is usually messing around with strange men, and drugged up. Mostly abuses Victor through neglect. Mostly shown in flashbacks, but one scene in present as well. Young actress aged to look older in present, or vice versa.

Misty & Foggy (20's) two girls that Victor and Chad meet at the bar, who are wasted, and act and look like twins. Very ditzy, drunk, corporate, normal. They take Victor and Chad back to there place. Drunken debauchery ensues.

Spic 'N' Span (20's -40's)- One of the horrible mascots for the advertising firm Victor works for, "Spic n Span's Whiten it up" Cleaning product. They play racist cliched versions of mexican house workers. Think Samo. It's meant to be horrible, and it of course offends Victor.

Aiko's Father-
A militant cold hearted man who sexually abuses aiko. Must be bilingual Japanese & English

Aiko's Mother-
Always screaming at Aikos father. Bi-lingual fluent in German & English

VARIOUS:
Hipster's (18-30) Some with speaking roles. A house party Victor crashes.

Office workers (20's -on) Some with speaking roles.

Last night I had my first public sowing of my erotic photography. Let's just say I was thoroughly disappointed. When we got there we had to remove some stuff that was left from the last show that was there,I was given an 8x8 area in which to hang my photos which took me 3 hours to do. The area I was given looked like it was behind the bar and no one would think they had access to it. After that I had to climb up and down a ladder to fix lights and adjust the lighting to show my work, which took me an hour. I then helped other artists set up their displays and went to grab a bit to eat and get dressed for the night.

When I returned I found the lights were turned off and my wall was hidden in shadows. After much complaining they turned one of the dance floor lights around to shine on the wall but that too was turned so low that it might as well not have been on at all. Although some people did come up to have a look most did not think they could get closer to it.The handout that they gave out about the show consisted of 1 8.5 X11 sheet of paper, that only listed "some artwork". They never told the guests that the artwork was for sale or who the artist supplying the work were. They then proceeded to tell me they expected 30% of any sales I may have made that night.

To make a long story short the night ended in a very bad way and has left a bitter taste in my mouth about showing my work for these people ever again.

I wonder have any of you ever had this type of experience where you have been invited to show some work only to have it left in the dark?

Is this typical or should I write a scathing letter to the organizers? Please let me know.

Where do you find your models?

An inherent challenge in Fine Art Nude Photography is finding men or women willing to pose "sans-clothing" for your art. So, where do you find these people anyway?

This is an often asked question which I'll offer my two cents on and hopefully others will want to contribute too.

We might include some of the ethics and social issues associated with this subject too.

First off lets distinguish that we're talking about Fine Art Nude photography as differentiated from Glamour, Pinup, or Pornography where there is a stronger sexual implication/presentation. This will be important to whoever you talk to about modeling.

Important elements involved in this dynamic are:
Trust or Confidence
photographic Proficiency or Competence
Intent
Usage

First off, I'll discuss the HOW and then the WHERE to find people to pose for you.

How to find people to pose for you:
The women (or men) you talk with will want to be satisfied in each of the above mentioned "important elements" before they agree to pose for you.

TRUST - CONFIDENCE
My most important suggestion is to be HONEST about each of those elements with the person you're discussing the possibility of posing for you. Nothing will suck the energy out of your conversation quicker than if he/she senses you aren't being forthright and honest with them. Conversely, nothing bolsters your prospective model's confidence and ease with you more than feeling you are being honest with them -even if you lack experience or confidence.
Explain this is a new field that you would like to branch out into -with their help. Bring along some nude images from other photographers that you like. You can bring in a magazine like Not Only Black + White or Focus Magazine that feature fine art nudes. Indicate what it is you want to accomplish. Relate as best you can what your inspiration is (form, line, texture, grace, strength, musculature, etc.). Your enthusiasm and sincerity will be conveyed and go a long way to convincing your prospective model to pose for you (even if they aren't open to posing they might be so inspired that they refer you to someone they know who will pose for you! -has happened more than once). I've also shown some images of master painters that reflect the look and feel of what I'm going for. All of this adds up to giving the prospective model a good idea of what you wish to accomplish -which instills trust and confidence that you're NOT trying to get a Date or just seeking sexual "thrills" by getting them naked.

Photographic Proficiency or Competence
Next, show them some of your art (even if you haven't done nudes before). Show them portraits or other images that represent your best work. Show enough of your art -but not too much. Only show your best work. 10 or less is good. You don't have to go into any contest winnings or awards -what they're interested in is seeing your proficiency with your camera. Most people won't want to pose for someone who hasn't mastered their equipment yet, not wanting to be the subject of "bad" images.

Intent
Likely covered during your relating of your inspiration for shooting nudes. Be clear where you intend to "go" during the photo shoot, meaning: what look or feeling you're seeking from the image (and consequently from your model). Talk about lighting and how it will enhance the image. Talk about the setting (out in nature? or studio?) and how that adds to the look your intending to create. Is there a theme you're working off of? (mythical, social commentary, realism, archetypal, etc.)

Usage
Initially, (as Jay mentioned in another post) the model might require that the images not be publicly shown (you might be able to renegotiate this if there are one or two outstanding images that result -and you both agree to). Its OK if you are shooting "just for practice" or to get experience. At some point, you'll want to show what you've created. Wait until you have some really good images and only show these. The temptation is to show something of lesser quality because its a new thing for you. This will end up hurting your chances of getting more models since they will judge you by your art quality. In any case, be clear with the model about how you will use the images and then stick to that. Don't tell her you won't show them and then put them up on the internet!
If you want to show your images you should get a "model release" particularly if his/her face is recognizable in the image. Definitely get one if you want to sell any of the prints.

WHERE to find models?
Art schools and colleges are excellent places to start. They use "Life Drawing" models for sketching and painting classes. Usually, they are open to working with photographers -even just starting out in nude imagery.

Asking friends is good, if only because they know you and where you're coming from, and hopefully have some confidence in you as a photographer already.

Put up a post on Craig's list (www.craigslist.com) or on Tribe. Be clear about what you want and what you are trying to accomplish. Be up front about payment or trade -and then fulfill that commitment in a timely manner.

Lastly, approaching strangers does produce results -its just more difficult and you need a strong ego that accepts rejection. Be careful because in some communities this could be taken VERY much the WRONG WAY. If I do it, I usually just ask: "Have you ever been asked to do any ART MODELING?" and then explain "I'm a Find Art Photographer and I'm looking for someone to collaborate with me on my art project." Framed in this way the inevitable question "what kind of photography do you do?" or "what type of modeling are you wanting me to do?" is less of an obstacle when I reply "I photograph the nude in the environment." If that doesn't get a negative reaction I follow up with "I'd like to show you some of my images" and arrange to show my portfolio.

Well there's a primer -at least from my experience.

question on skin rending - studio work

Professional Photographer and Newbie to Tribes

I am new not just this tribe but all of Tribe.net. I am a bi-female in a poly relationship. First, being bi and poly living in a very conservative state I have to be careful who I talk to about my life. I am a professional photographer. I have run a large retail camera store and been lead photographer for over 15 years. I taught photography for many, many years and just recently quit my job to start my own photography business. The one thing about having left the retail camera world is I miss all the contact with other photographers and discussing what they are shooting and what types of equipment they like to use for what purpose. So anytime you want to chat about any of the above, please message me. I look forward to getting to know you.

Also since I am new to Tribes if you have a good tribe that you think I should investigate I would appreciate a steer in that direction. There seem to be so many tribes I tend to get overwhelmed just looking at the lists and forget what I was looking for in the first place. I am a major fan of Art, artistic people, photography of all types, belly dancing, writing, rugby, reading fantasy and fiction, hosting parties etc. If you have found a tribe that you really enjoy would you drop me a line so I can check it out so that I can get more connected. Thanks to all and I hope to hear back from you.

By the way I am also considering doing an art piece based on poly. Shooting poly groups in a mix of looks from the very traditional sit down studio pose to casual home life looks, to tastefully done intimate art shots. if anyone is interested in this aspect you are welcome to let me know. I am looking for real people. Don't think you have to have model looks to be a part of this. Because these relationships we have are important to us too, but its not generally something you just walk into sears and say can you take our family photo hehehe.

'm making a film, that will be somewhat explicit in parts. Also, there will be imagery that needs nudity.
I am afraid that I will not be able to cut the content of the movie script, even if I find actors interested .You can e-mail me with rates, photos, questions, etc. If your an actor or actress who has worked in nudity and/or sexual situations, is comfortable with it, and would like to take on a feature narrative film as a major role please e-mail me or show up to the auditions. The two main roles are the ones that require it but there are others. If you would like to be featured in sequences that do not involve the main characters, but are part of dreamlike imagery (that features nudity/partial nudity)you can either show up to the audition, or e-mail me with link to your work. Here is the plot:
Aberrant Behavior, is basically about two self destructive anarchistic-y street kids who have an exaggerated form of pica, a disorder where people feel compelled to eat non-food materials, carpet, dirt, soap, drano, various chemicals, etc. as portrayed as a drug addiction. Who are in a very self destructive relationship, there perfect for each-other except they literally kill each-other by being together. A lot of psycho-sexual/self mutilation-masochism in this one.There's more to it, but that's the basic synopsis.

Keep in mind the budget of this movie will probably stay around 25-35, 000 dollars (already secured), so just warning I can't pay the highest rates

I have a new movie called "Aberrant Behavior" auditioning Sat. 1/19 3:30-6:3- at the Dark Room SF 2263 Mission off of 19th and Mission@ 3:30 - 6:30. (My first movie "the period" came out through Sub Rosa Cinema can be seen/bought at Netflix www.myspace.com/theperiodmovie as well as various other outlets)

There's more to it, but that's the basic synopsis. If you can't make it to the auditions, you can send me a head shot with resume, or whatever you want. We can then decide when and where to meet.

I will be hiring for many roles, all ages (over 18) races, sizes, etc. But here are the main characters:
Main Characters:
Victor Muertos: (Mid to late twenties) Half Mexican/Half white (Half latino/half white will probably work). Black hair, down to chin and five o clock shadow. (Flexible though). Tall and thin but not too thin.
Dark, brooding, depressed, prone to long winded sarcastic, cynical rants. Living off the state for mental depression, and addiction, but eventually breaks himself from the state. He hates the state, and normal life in general. He hates almost everything. He is sort of sloppy hipster, slightly emo, slight slight slight goth meets street kid. Light or no body mod, piercings, etc. He eventually lives on the street because of choice.He falls in love with Aiko.

Aiko Zumbi (18-early twenties or look like it) Half Japanese/Half German (or Japanese, or half Japanese/Half white). Shorter than Victor, thin but still slightly curvy.
Street kid with a bit of dark hippie. Has been sexually abused as a child. Prone to violence. Prone to long winded rants, or sometimes just total silence. Dark, cynical, with a very bleak view of life. Body mods, tattoo's, piercings, fine. Dreaded or colored hair fine as well. Actually preffered.
She falls in love with Victor.

Emma May (20's to 30's) Actress must be thin, because character is anorexic. Very fake, superficial, manic laughing. Very self deluded. She doesn't really see her anorexia as a problem, she think she looks great though she's obviously dieing and goes to extremes to keep herself thin. She is always dressed up elegantly and thinks of herself as a proper lady even when doing something grotesque . She is a head executive at a advertising/pr firm that she gets a Victor a brief job at, through meeting him in a class over there mutual addictions. (Brief Nudity /Partial a few times)

Caseworker Joe (30's-40's) Written has hispanic, but open. Larger guy, tall, built like a shed, a bit fat but not flabby fat. Very coarse, to the point, direct "Take no shit" kind of guy. Very normal, buys into the whole big house in the suburbs, good job, etc. He is Victor's Caseworker, and is tired of Victor's Shit, and believes he is not trying to quit. (None)

Glitters- a gay gangster rapper, take everything that's a cliche and horrible about it and flip it so that it's gay (some, will also need male models)

Pedida Muertos-Victors Mother. A nearly catatonic morally apprehensive drug addict who's always sleeping with random guys and ignoring her child (Some nudity/sexual situations can be negotiated to less)

And then random visuals, nudes for some flashback scenes (of some sort of psuedo porn the main characer shot) a girl that Victor sleeps with before he falls in love with Zumbi (requires brief nudity/sexuality) and some body part imagery that will not feature the face of the actor/actress, among other thing

I need before I even start:
Prostethetics/Makeup- There are many parts of my movie that need gore, ghoulish makeup or creating body casts for dreamlike effect (like a scene where they fall onto the ground and break like porcelain blood-paint spraying out of them creating a heart) but most importantly I need someone who can help make someone look anorexic, eye sockets reccessed , hips sticking out, ribs sticking out, shoulder blades, etc. I can't start without this because it's one of the main characters.

Boom-I have someone lined up for operating boom/mixing sound, but I'm not sure he'll always be available. I need someone who has at least some experience in this to help. I have equipment but having (better?) equipment would be great.

Props- It would be great to have someone who can assist in creating edible (or non toxic) chemicals, substances, materials for the main characters to ingest. It would also free me up to think about other things.

Lighting/ Art Department/ Set Design/Decoration/Locations- I need someone who can do a lot without a lot who can work with unusual materials. Who isn't too expensive or I won't be able to afford you. Also may be able to transform other locations into desired location.Things needed for instance underground bomb shelter turned into run down sorta apartment. Abandoned buildings. Offices. Fashion Show. A sewer, where the characters live in and eat off of trash.

Set Decorators/Builders:
Though the majority of the movie will be in real locations. There will be a few sets built, and sets that will be decorated to fit the movie. I am looking for people who have experience building sets (theater experience would be great) on a low budget. Resourcefullness in materials is needed (Meaning you can do a lot with not a lot). Building flats, painting, decorating.

Prosthetics/ Make-Up: Though this is not a gore horror movie. There is quite a few instances of gore. People who have experience in mold making, prostethics, sculpture. etc. would be very helpfull. Also people good at making people looking sickly or malnourished through make-up needed. In addition Emma May, the severe anorexic will need added pieces to protrude her brows and jaw, her ribs, collar bones, hip bones, etc to make herself appear much thinner. Actually a lot of make up needs from simple to complex through out the movie.

Vfx-Compositors- Though this will not be a special effects epic, there will be things needed. Good flashy two animations/composting for some of the fake commercials/promos. Possible fire and underwater animation. Some manipulation of the video -color fluctuations, shrinking an enlarging, simple morph effects, color globules to represent visual aberrations in the characters eye-sight. Some 3-D needed especailly those who are good working with modeling human figures. But mostly more simple 2-D basic 3-D stuff. I may do this myself, but send me a link to your work, and I might hire you for the movie.

Props: I will be doing much of this myself, but may need help in re-creating chemicals, materials, such as drano, soap, dirt, carpet, many other instances through-out the script, to create realistic looking edible (or at least non toxic ) substitutes for the substances they swallow.

Mechanical/Puppetry- Not needed for a lot of the movie. But there is a few scenes with Emma Mays giant snake like tape worm that slithers around. Also a scene where skull bowls start vomiting (have to read script to explain) Could do myself, just seeing if anyone else might be interested.

Lighting Designer: Though I will likely take over this role myself, and a lot of the footage will be shoot in the streets style. There will be a few locations that will be staying in for a long while in the script, and would like good, stylized lighting for maximum creepy effectiveness.

Costume: I already have a few people on board for this, but as this movie ends in a big Valentines Day Fashion Show. I am looking for people who could be commisioned for clothing for that event (and other sequences in the movie as well). Also, previously made pieces could work.

Underwater Camera- Anyone who would like to rent me an underwater camera, or who has experience filming underwater, this is needed for a few sequences.

Boom Mic/ Sound Mixer- I already have someone onboard for this, but never hurts to have a second position, or a backup

Pyro/ Fire Safety/Explosion - This really isn't needed for a lot of the movie. But there is one scenes where a whole room catches on fire (with possible stuntman that catches on fire, I made do this in special effects). There is another scenes where a home-made bomb blows a crack into a wall and makes it crumble. I want these scenes to come off effective and safe.

Security- Not throughout the whole movie, but there will be scenes where I will be filming in potentially dangerous locations, and a climax that will need crowd control

Legal/ Locations- I will probably do this myself, but if anyone has experience in finding or knowing of great locations, or securing permits for locations. I might be interested in working with you.

Production Assistants/Co-Ordinaters (I am sure you know what this means)

Music- I have most of the music worked out. But a band fell out that I really felt I needed for some sequences. If your music is post -rocky, slow core or has that aphex twin meets godspeed you black emperor I may be interested. The kind of bands I'm looking for: Mew, Godspeed you black emperor, Explosions in the sky, Spiritualized, 65 days of static, Sigur Ros. Also in some music Portis-Heady could work.

These will all be taught by experienced photographers / educators who have a genuine understanding of their respective subject. These are not basement classes where a "photographer” is trying to make a few extra bucks, or a camera store trying to sell some stuff. "The Center’s primary goal is to Teach, to Create and Preserve the Art of Photography and the Art of Photography is fading fast.

Finding Male Models

I think that the human form is a beautiful thing and if a person is happy with thier own form then it is a thing of beauty, be it male or female. I have had the pleasure of shooting many, many woman, I would also like to add some male nudes to my portfolio but I seem to run into these problems.

1 As a heterosexual male if I mention nude photography guys think that I only shoot woman or that I am gay and hitting on them.

2. Gay men think I am Gay and think that I am trying to seduce them.

3. Gay man think it is a way to meet new men and have sex with them and when they find out I am not gay or looking to sleep with them they back out.

I have talked to friends bot Gay and straight about this and no one seems to be able to offer any good advice, I have tried running an add and approaching the local Art classes but seem to hit some obstacle or another.

Also any suggestions on poses would help I am going to do some self nudes in the hope that they will help attract serious models.

All feedback will be gratefully accepted.

I'm located in Humboldt county, CA (northern coast) and create my art in the beautiful natural surroundings of the Redwoods and rocky coastline. If you are interested in posing for me and will be nearby or traveling to Humboldt this Summer or Fall please contact me.

Also, I travel frequently throughout the western states so if you're interested but not nearby please suggest a location and time frame that works for you and I'll see if it fits into my travel plans.

Hey everyone. I thought I'd post a link to a good opportunity for fellow photographers who have created erotic content or fine art nudes, etc. I know from being a photographer as well that trying to sell prints on your own is very difficult and most don't have much success unless they're some kind of photographer celebrity or something. Anyway, here's a site that is likely to really bridge the gap between photographers who are creating awesome works and customers in the general public who want access to own photographic prints of that work. It's professionally run and on the up and up. It's called www.eroticimageprints.com. I'm on there as a photographer too. It's a new place so naturally it's to be expected that things will take a while to grow. If you're a photographer give it a shot. If you're a model, get the word to your photographer because it's an opportunity for both of you to promote your work and maybe actually make some income (or additional income) from your creative work together.

Fernand Fonssagrives' beautiful photos

Hey there. I just dug out an issue of Collector's Photography from 1988... I kept it because it had so many beautiful nude shots in it, many of which have adorned my walls over the last 18 years!

And one photographer whose work I LOVE is Fernand Fonssagrives. Such beautiful nudes, and all from 1935 to the late 50s! At least that's when these shots are from. Kind of Man Ray-ish, playing with light and shadows.

I did a google search for his work, to see if I could get posters/prints anywhere, but I don't see anywhere.

This Tribe is for the display, discussion, support, and promotion of Fine Art Nude Photography. Post your favorite image (photo credit is requested) or better yet one of your own images! This Tribe is also a resource for those just starting out in Nude Photography (photographer or model) to ask questions and get feedback on image creation and the ins-and-outs of working in this genre.

This tribe is not only for photographers who create nude imagery but also viewers who appreciate nude art, so please pass the word.

Greetings All!
I've posted four images from a recent photo shoot in Corona Del Mar. We had to hunt around for a "safe" place for Melissa to disrobe -seems its a little difficult to go nude in SoCal. At another shoot near a popular nude beach in San Diego county a woman complained when our group was only 100' away from the designated "nude beach" area.

When I'm up in Humboldt county, #1 people are A LOT more laid back about nudity and #2 you can practically walk out your door and into beautiful forests or take a short trip to secluded coastline where people frequently go unclothed.

This presents a possible discussion topic:
How difficult is it for YOU to find outdoor locations to create nude imagery in?

Photo Shoot Preparation

Jay's "Helpful Tips" post sparked an idea.
For the benefit of our members here is my Photo Shoot Preparation sheet I give to all models new to working with me. If you're a model or photographer feel free to adopt any or all of the tips you like.

Photo Shoot Preparation

Thank you for your interest in modeling for my art. Figure models who pose for me are of vital importance to my art -after all I couldn’t create my images without them! I’ve come up with the following suggestions to assist us in creating distinctive images:

1. The day before our photo shoot drink plenty of water to hydrate your skin and give it a healthy glow.

2. Get plenty of rest the night before our photo shoot. Your energy will shine through in each pose!

3. Shortly before the photo shoot check your body for dry patches and use a non-greasy lotion or cream (commonly: knees, heels, elbows, etc.)

4. Check your finger and toe nails and give them a once over if needed (no dirty/broken/split nails please). I prefer no polish or clear polish (however if you’re covering up a dinged nail use a neutral color). Please trim excessively long toe nails.

5. Shaving. Any areas that you shave, please do so far enough ahead of the photo shoot so there are no bumps or red patches at the time of our shoot. I prefer pubic hair to look natural, but it’s not essential. If you are open to it and there’s enough time before our shoot please “let it grow.”

6. Makeup should be light with no eye or lip liner. Cover any blemishes. Be careful to “blend” your makeup well.

7. Please bring a robe, or blanket, or large towel (something easy to take off and put on) to cover up with and keep warm if necessary. Shoes should accommodate moderate hiking but be easy to slip on and off for shooting (tennis shoes or slip on boots are good for this). A hat is also good to have if we’re out in a sunny spot (beach, desert, etc.)

8. Don’t wear tight clothes (bra or underwear) prior to our photo shoot since these leave strap marks and take a while to go away.

9. Bring a small bottle of water or tea to refresh with.

10. Bring a couple hair clips or rubber bands to put your hair up or in a different style.

11. Between now and our photo shoot please be conscious of exposure to the sun and use sun block or wear long sleeve shirts and pants to keep from getting sun burned or heavy tan lines (the dreaded "farmer tan") prior to our shoot.

SAFETY FIRST
During our photo shoot if there is anything you are uncomfortable about (pose, accessing a location, public exposure, etc.) please tell me right away. If I cannot provide an alternative that meets your satisfaction I will change my plans to accommodate your comfort. DO NOT do anything that you are uncomfortable with or have reservations about in an effort to please me. It’s more important that you feel completely safe and at ease during our photo shoot than it is for me to “get the shot.”

Helpful Tips

Here's a good lesson I learned the hard way when I did my first and only nude shoot (so far), that beginners may not think about:

Instruct your model to not wear any tight clothes or elastic on the day of the shoot so as to have unsightly marks across the waistline.

Anyone have any other tips?
