Fire Arts Advisory Council

moderated - created 03/04/08
The Fire Arts Advisory Council is a collective group of fire
performance artists based in the greater Los Angeles area. This group
was formed at the behest of both LA County and California State fire
marshalls who have insisted we do this of our own volition or face
external (municipal or state) regulation. The Fire Arts Advisory
Council is a grassroots effort to bring about more awareness and
education to the Fire community.

The group has introduced a preliminary set of Fire Safety Standards to
the LA County Fire Department which are currently being tested in
portions of the Southern California area. It is the goal of this
group to interface directly with Fire Marshalls and with the greater
Fire Arts community. We strive for and invite involvement from the
Fire Arts community at every step of this process. The ultimate goal
of the California State Fire Marshall is to develop a standard which
will be implemented state-wide. Therefore, it is essential that we
hear from the community as much as possible during its continued
development.

Please email us with descriptions of your experiences in dealing with
Fire Marshalls in your area, any relevant issues you have encountered,
questions, comments, or for information on how to become involved in
any of the committees working toward this goal.
