Can anyone link me with the best stuff to use to treat flammable clothing to make it non flammable.
I've never used the stuff before so I"m not sure what the best stuff is.
thanks & peace,
Denise Denise

Re: Fire retardant for flammable clothing
Sat, May 10, 2008 - 9:39 AMThe stuff that generally gets mentioned in this context is Flamex, which is sold by theatrical supply companies (among others). I've got some stuff called "Forcefield fire guard" that I got at a fabric store. I haven't done any testing comparing the two, or comparing them to untreated material, but I wouldn't rely too heavily on their fire-retardant properties.

Re: Fire retatdant for flammable clothing
Sat, May 10, 2008 - 11:12 AMRosco Flamex comes in three forms: cellulose, synthetic, and nat fibers. The up side to it is that, properly used, it will meet the most rigid specifications, even in New York. The down side is that you generally need both the synth and nat to cover a broad spectrum of performer's outfits.
FF4 is a multi-purpose flame retardant that broadly covers natural fibers, most synthetics, plus wood and cardboard. It meets most specifications, but is not yet rated for new york.
