Re: Looking for a propane fire cannon
Sat, July 26, 2008 - 4:51 PMi build simple ones and sell kits. all pieces are rated to 300 psi min., and the unit can fire propane, white gass, gasoline, or a mixture of your choosing. i put them in front of the Tenn. Fire Marshals at bonnaroo, and they passed with flying colors. they are simple to assemble, simple to operate, and safe for anyone.
here is a video
youtube.com/watch
thats a shot with 12 oz. of white gas.
the cannon can be propane charged, inert gas charged from a bottle through a regulator, or from a compressor; the safest being inert.
i can also design and build a cannon based on your requirements. contact me directly and i'll get some pictures to you and more video if i can find it.
peace

Re: Looking for a propane fire cannon
Sat, July 26, 2008 - 5:18 PMOf course, shooting white gas can move this up to a "military weapon" in some states. In CA, if it shoots more than 10' you're required to go through JAG just to own one. I've heard most other states are 40'.

Re: Looking for a propane fire cannon
Mon, July 28, 2008 - 1:16 PMi've never had a problem with georgia, and yes, ANY liquid flame effect is illegal in CA and NV. and if by "military weapon" you mean howitzer, then yes, and not can, but does always.
however, if you have one, or get one, there are ways of explaining it to officials other than calling it a "gas cannon"...when i talk to the FD here, i always call them "mechanical fire breathers" which is after all what they are. -

Re: Looking for a propane fire cannon
Mon, July 28, 2008 - 3:47 PMNot true. White gas fountains are completely legal and are not covered under the Knight bill. In fact, they're treated as "open flame performance" just like fire spinners (in California). So long as the white gas cannot be fired farther than 10 feet. I don't know the specifics of NV, but since their restrictions tend to fall in step with CA, I can't imagine them being more restrictive. -

Re: Looking for a propane fire cannon
Tue, July 29, 2008 - 6:13 AMThat was one hell of a flame effect there. And all that was is white gas? how big is that thing? -

Re: Looking for a propane fire cannon
Fri, August 1, 2008 - 1:47 PMthe cannon stands 8.5 feet at the top
with the three of them combined i can easily create a fireball the size of a school bus about 60 feet in the air.
and living a block from city hall in Atlanta has given me several chances to meet the AFD! -

Re: Looking for a propane fire cannon
Fri, August 1, 2008 - 1:50 PMin the video the fireball burns out around 57ft. the shed behind me is 10 ft tall, and its floor sits 2.5ft above where i am standing. 57ft. was the best estimate i could get by judging the fire, but if you have any better, more technological way i am all ears and eyes. -

This is the maximum depth. Additional responses will not be threaded.
Re: Looking for a propane fire cannon
Sat, August 2, 2008 - 9:06 AMhey drew,
would you be able to make a smaller version of that that shot a 4 foot flame? -
-
Re: Looking for a propane fire cannon
Tue, August 5, 2008 - 6:34 PMnot like this, but yes, i can build a 4 footer...it would only shoot propane, or any other flammable gas you wish. shoot me a message and tell me what you want exactly and i can draw up something and we can go from there.
