Solar Oven fun....

Last year, during the day, some of us worked on the fire circle and baked banana bread in a solar oven while playing drums.

This year we're planning on doing more of that.
In fact, we're going to add: torch filling, rangoli making, and rebar pounding...
and whatever else needs to be done,
to charge the space, for evening's fun,
... all while cooking food with the sun!

We're also going to play a rhythm named Kassa.
It's a traditional rhythm from East Guinea written and played for farmers while they are working in the field.
The word "kassa" means "granary" so it literally honors the seeds that are this year's food and next year's crop.

You don't have to know anything about drums or rhythm to join!
If you want help cook, or bring fruit to share, come!
If you want to play kassa, come!

Do you have a recipe to share?
Some homemade jam to top it off?
Perhaps you have a serving tray you could bring or some fresh fruit to share - we can all participate.

After all, no one wants to pound rebar under an unappreciated sun in deafening silence!

Phoenix Fire: Less than a month away!

Dear friends,

It’s less than a month until we gather together to drum, dance, sing,
and journey to transformation! The Council and Staff have been working
hard to prepare for our gathering, and we are very excited to see many
of you soon.

There is a wonderful program of workshops being planned, offered by
talented members of our community including drumming with Bright Hawk,
and dance with Robin Sol. (A complete workshop list will be posted
soon.) Our three opening rituals will be organized by our local clans:
Bay Area Spark Collective, Redwood Nights, and SoCal Sacred Fire
Community – in conjunction with gathering attendees like you, who’ll
participate in ritual planning on site. We’re expecting some fantastic
vendors in the Merchant Village, including an excellent food vendor. And
remember that our reasonable registration price includes three dinners
and a community breakfast on the last morning!

Please tell your friends to have a look at the fabulous slide show of
the gathering by our own Shimmering Wolf, which is now posted on the
firefamilygathering.org web site (look on the top banner for the link).

The next price cutoff is this Sunday, July 20. To help your cash flow,
we will extend the balance due date for new registrations to accept a
50% deposit by July 20 with the balance due by August 4, the end of
registration for this year. We hope that this will help you decide to
make a commitment now if you haven’t already. [Note: if you’ve already
registered, your balance is still due by July 21.]

We’re looking forward to being with you in August!

p.s. Despite the 1700+ lightning fires raging in California, the nearest
to our gathering site are the fires in Big Sur that are over 80 miles
from our camp. Rangers on site tell us there is no smoke or atmospheric
appearance of there being a fire, aside from the magnificent sunsets.

Phoenix Fire REBATES NOW AVAILABLE!

Dear friends,

We are excited! to offer a rebate to those who refer new registrants to the Phoenix Fire Gathering.

While we have spent some money on ads, we'd mostly like to give the money to you - while at the same time encouraging you to spread the word to your circles of friends and family.

We know that in these times of rising gas and food prices, and economic uncertainly, a gathering like Phoenix Fire might seem like a luxury. We also know what a necessity it is to spend quality time with like-minded others, to see the best of ourselves reflected back to ourselves in community. Thus, we are always looking for ways to make it more affordable, to save money, and pass that savings directly back to you.

DETAILS:
For each new person that you refer to register for Phoenix Fire you will receive a rebate of $20. Each new Phoenix Fire attend! e will be asked who referred them. If that person (say, you) is already registered, you will receive a $20 rebate. This will be deducted from your balance due if you've made a deposit, or returned to you as a check at the gathering. You can get multiple rebates for multiple referrals.

REQUIREMENTS:

The Current Evolution of the Alchemical Fire Circle

Aloha Friends and Family!
As we prepare for a summer full of ecstatic exploration, sacred engagement and re-union around the Fire, I'm dropping in to share some writing I've been working on, in partnership with Spinner, Magnus and Joshua. As many of you know, we have been collaborating on a unique experiment called "Fires Rising" in Pennsylvania for the last 4 years, that has focused on delving deeply into traditional and modern alchemical metaphors and processes. We're aware that many stories have been told about the magic and mysteries of those fires - and that some of what you have heard may not have made sense. When new visions unfold and new experiments are run, they are often challenging to understand from outside the laboratory in question.

The document; "The Current Evolution of the Alchemical Fire Circle", is a summation of the goals the four of us have had, the learnings we gained over the last three summers, and is an indicator of the direction toward which our collective highest vision has us aimed. The document was written primarily for the purpose of coming to consensus with each other on what our current understandings and agreements are of this particular version of "The Work" going into Summer 2008.

If we haven't played together for a while, this is a way for you to at least get a glimpse into what the four of us have been brewing.

Many of the principles detailed also inform the Vegas Vortex Mayfire and Hawaii Fire Tribe Gatherings, and will be foundational to two new laboratories we are beginning to work in this year as we seed the Alchemical Fire Circle into the Free Spirit Gathering in Maryland ( http://freespiritgathering.org/fsg/index.html ), and the Wisteria Corn Stalk Festival in Ohio ( http://www.wisteria.org/cornstalk.htm ). Phoenix fire plans

I'm planning to go to Phoenix Fire this August (for Village builders), but I'm like to try to catch a ride from Las Vegas area so that I can spend some more time out there again. Would anyone be heading from to the LV area that will also be partaking in the building of the village for PF? I just got approved yesterday (despite the fact that my request was from February), but I'm planning on arriving in LV either late on the 1st or early on the 2nd of Aug. Does that mesh with anyone? I would LOVE to meet up with friends (new and old) while in the area (and go see the temple again).

Johnathan and Lillith need some MOJO

Dear Ones,

Please feel free to forward this to the Mystery Tribe list as I am not
on it, and to anyone who might be willing to put some energy into this
situation. Please forgive any cross-posting. I am limited as to what
I can say because of the legal nature of this occurence.

Jonathon and Lillith Avalon have come under attack. The Attacker is
someone very close to them - a member of their family of origin. This
attack jeopardizes virtually every aspect of thier life - home, family
and livelihood. More than all that , it is tremendously hurtful and is
causing them both ( and Zarah as well) deep and profound heartache.
This is a very serious situation and the Avalons need to know they are
held in the arms of this tribe as they traverse what appears to be a
great abyss.

They are in immediate need of energy and support. Please light a seven
day candle and fill it with any or all of the following intentions: 1.
Fire's clear vision that everyone involved in upcoming legal
interactions will see the truth. 2. Water's power to break down any
barriers that might interrupt the flow of love and health for Jonathan,
Lillith and Zarah. 3. Air's hope and honest communication that all
parties will come to resolution in a positive and beneficial way. 4.
Earth's nurturing strength and resources that the Avalnon's will have
all they need to move through this and know they are held by this tribe
and never alone. 5. Spirit's wholeness, that everything that should be
known will come into thier awareness and bring them peace. As you light
the flame, direct the energy to Jonathan and Lillith and all those in
the legal system who are involved. See the Avalons smiling, whole and
well, and this situation completely resolved.

If you do not know the Avalons and would like to help but cannot
visualize them, simply write thier names on a peice of paper, place it
under your candle holder and direct the energy to be sent through the
Universal Mind.

Jonathan and Lillith have a legal advisor and are unable to discuss
this situation with anyone at this time (except clergy - which is why
they were able to discuss it with me), so , if you call, please do not
ask questions as they will be unable to answer them right now. Please
send them an email, mail a card or any other form of support (they have

Hello my west coast fire family!

hoping you are well!
i am formally reaching out to fire circle family to help support a healthy eco-system for the soulfire tribe.
i am an ecclectic, with strong sense of "how" to do things, rather than "what" to do.
i feel that if we hold certain parameters of conscious connection and willingness, we can hold anything!
and help anything transform...grow fire circles in the city?

we are all very blessed to work with the CoSM Community and all those connected to Alex and Allyson Grey.
i continue to dance with the full moons and with a small crew of volunteers who set the space and overall circle to bring our medicine path to the city. it is a big leap, and we are flying! i am so very proud of our first soulfire event at cosm and want to invite you to share your experience with us.

we are using community art projects and live painting to weave the deep levels of connection, riotous rhythmic rides followed by crystal singing bowls, the didj playing and the movement! kinda like a cross between the unifire and diverifire models...
we are experimenting with photography and video, as it is a part of the cosm culture, and is something i have long had an interest in.

let's see what else is radically different?
everyone is invite dot help set up and take down...
music can be great or not, depending on how many folks are paying attention.
once we hit critical mass, the lift off can be well....you know!
we leave our drama at the door.
we work to make things better than they are, or let them go:

THE TEMPLE OF SEKHMET:
OFFERINGS TO THE GODDESS
Saturday, Oct. 28th, at the Goddess Temple in Cactus Springs Bring a picnic and plan to spend the day with us…. Remember to bring plenty of water, and warm clothes for the evening, as well as offerings for the food altar, to nourish and strengthen us as we journey through the darkness into the light.

Solar Fire Lighting Ritual
We'll have a fire-lighting ceremony at solar noon, which is at 12:30pm –At 12:30 we will meet in the temple to light the sacred fire. The ritual begins with songs and prayers to the wood used in the temple fire. Then we will light a sacred solar fire, using the light of the sun to start the temple fire. We will lovingly tend the fire throughout the afternoon. In the evening, the fire will be processed by the priestesses of the Temple, to light the main fire for our BoneDance ritual.

Sekhmet Storytelling Journey with Anne Key Come join us at the Temple of Goddess Spirituality Dedicated to Sekhmet as we make our sacred preparations for Bonedance. At 3:00pm, join Anne in the temple for a storytelling journey through the myth of Sekhmet and the history of the Temple. Afterwards we will take a walk through the temple grounds, including the labyrinth, peace altar, and the spring. You are invited to bring a rock to add to our peace altar.

After the storytelling journey, Alane of the CrowWomen from Colorado will offer a MAGICAL CHANT WORKSHOP at 5:30pm.
Alane is an incredible singer and priestess. She has a new album out with many new chants on it.... Join us in the Temple, and learn some great new songs to sing at the Fire!

BONEDANCE
The main ritual will begin at 10pm, and run until just after sunrise on Sunday morning.
This ritual of spontaneous celebration, is co-created by all the people who will join us through the evening. At 10pm, there will be an orientation for all, which will lead right into the fire lighting ceremony. This will be an Alchemical Fire Circle Ritual, so bring your drums, rattles and offerings for the Fire. New Fire Circle Gathering Arises -- Call for experienced fire lovers

Hello friends, a new sacred fire circle is being born in West
Virginia, near DC. Experienced facilitators are sought to help make
the circle turn and pass the mysteries to a new circle of people.

If you've got skills and feel the call, contact Whittney and find
out more. It's Oct 5-8, which means you can fly out here for Embers
and then co-create Healing the Spirit a few days later. A fire
circle double feature!

Healing the Spirit features nice CABINS -- some private cabins may
be available for facilitators gratis, or we can put together a fire-
addicts cabin crew. This means you can fly in without having to
bring camping gear.

Scott and I plan to be at Embers, Healing the Spirit, and Fall Fest
in Vegas, so hopefully we will meet again by firelight very soon!

Greetings Fire Friends,

This is your friendly reminder that Phoenix Fire is less than two months away! Our
sense of sweet anticipation is growing as folks continue to sign up for three nights
of spirited singing, dancing, drumming, and sacred soul journeying under the redwoods.
We invite you, old friends and new, to join us for this dynamic new gathering in
the mountains of Santa Cruz, CA. Together, we'll create a powerful space
of transformation and healing as we witness the phoenix reborn, and the formal emergence of the Fire Family Tribe.

If you haven't yet registered for this exciting event, now is the time to do so!
You can still get the standard registration price by going to

at these rates. And remember, if you locked in an early rate with
a 50% deposit before May 15, you will need to pay the balance by July 15

Welcome to the Fire

Brothers & Sisters of Fire, welcome to the Tribe,

The Fire Family council is a group dedicated to building the Sacred All-Night Fire Circle Community in California. We are inspired by many groups and fire circle traditions, including Rites of Spring, FIREDANCE, Fire Tribe Hawaii, SpiritFire, Forest Dance and the Earth Drum Council.

Currently we are producing Phoenix Fire, a gathering of the tribe set to take place this Summer, in the beautiful Santa Cruz mountains.

We look forward to hearing your many voices and seeing you around the fire.
