2 years ago a couple of dedicated fire-dancers split away from a performance troupe on UC Davis campus and began holding their own fire practices on the E Street plaza. We have since continued our spins every Thursday evening at 8PM – rain or shine, even in the winter – and have grown into a sizable community. A “not-a-troupe” if you will.

A few things about Fire University:

We do not accept any donations, and you can’t hire us.

We do charities, and benefits for children at the drop of a hat, however, so don’t hesitate to ask.

We do not allow drinking alcohol in obvious containers (beer cans etc.) on the plaza during our performances, or allow aggressive behavior whatsoever.

We meet with the Davis Fire Marshal several times a year to ensure comliance as well as maintain a positive relationship with the Davis Police Department.

With over 50 years of combined experience Fire University is well qualified in fire-safety and fire-arts training. Please feel free to ask virtually anyone with a fire-tool in their hands and they will most likely teach you how to use it on the spot. For free. If we decide that you are safe enough to light it – you may be given that option!
