Updated Shipping Policies

Hi All,

I just got back from our quarterly meeting, where one of the hot topics was our shipping policy. Last year, I started a discussion here about insurance in an effort to find a solution to a problem that plagues vendors and customers alike: damaged, lost, and stolen packages.

After looking at our shipping statistics from last year, things actually went very well considering the number of packages shipped. However, there were enough issues that it warranted changing the way we ship our packages to you. While damaged packages were rare (perhaps .1%), lost packages due to theft or carrier-related problems were very noticeable.

The primary change is that large-value orders will require signature confirmation unless the customer waives the option in the Order Notes when ordering. If you decide to waive the option, and will not be available to receive the package yourself, please consider shipping to your neighbor, a friend, or your business.

The seocndary changes are not really changes, so much as just fleshing out our policy. We have always had people request signature confirmation or insurance separately, as they do not show up as options on the website. Our shipping policy now states clearly that signature confirmation is available for low-value packages, and that insurance is an option for packages of all values.

Working together, we can lower risk for everyone!

For those interested in shipping options, you can request them over the phone or through our Order Notes. Signature confirmation is free, while insurance will be charged separately.
