Thank you Cat for opening your home to us. The drummers put some of the basic rhythms together, playing each one 4 times, then repeated them in a loop so that the dancers knew what to expect.

Next time we take the first 1/2hr to review more rythms and put a set of 8 together 4 time each, then loop and see what movements the dancers can put to these rhythms.

We are building our inventory of rythms and building trust with the dancers by being predicable, but interesting.

This is getting really good! Don't miss the next one, you can still review and drum with us - come play, it's getting to be really fun! I'll be there again on the 28th of May, so practice, drill and learn names of rythms as well as how they sound.

Returning this Wednesday for 2-4 new rhythms, review of the previous 4 rythyms, basic hand and drum holding techniques if needed.
Bringing teaching materials both written and CD from Jesse Rogers, background info that prompted this class in the first place. (Teaching CD is $10.00 and booklet is the cost of reproduction. No more than $5.00.) That way you can practice on your own when you can't make class and we can all start referring to page numbers and suplemental exercises.
As an experiment we tried my philosophy of drummers being led by the dancers at a local event recently and it worked really well. The dancers that have been coming caught on really fast and there was a back and forth between us that hasn't been there before.
I encourage everyone to come and play.

I'm in and bringing hubby as well. Let's get back on track and drum and dance together. :)
