Are there silks and hoop at the Santa Monica location? Does anyone know where I can take classes? I have been training in NYC and am moving to the west coast!

Hi Amy, welcome to the Flying Trapeze tribe.

When I lived in L.A. (near Santa Monica) I went to Hollywood Aerial Arts to learn silks. They also have a hoop class there. It's in Inglewood, sort of near the L.A. airport. It's a great school to learn aerial arts, the instructors are highly skilled and I like their teaching style a lot.

I miss going to that school. I haven't found anyone as good here in northern California at teaching aerial silks.

I'd provide a link but their site is down right now. As far as I know they are still holding classes. Their website is hollywoodaerialarts.com.

Thanks so much for the info! I'll definitely check it out when I get there. How far north are you going. My teacher in NYC studied at Circus Center in San Francisco and she loved it. If you're anywhere close, you might check it out. I think it's a pretty intense program! Website it circuscenter.org. good luck!!

Thanks, Amy. Yes, I'm near the Circus Center in S.F. It's about a 30 to 45 minute drive away. I have never been over there, though I've heard quite a bit about it. There is a school much closer to me in the East Bay that I go to, Trapeze Arts. It's a wonderful school specializing in flying trapeze, static trapeze, trampoline, Chinese acrobatics and tumbling. We do have a rope and tissue teacher, too, and she is well trained in static trapeze and performs regularly, but the silks classes are not as good, in my opinion, as the ones in L.A. at Hollywood Aerial Arts. The Hollywood Aerial Arts instructors know many many moves on the tissue, there is a lot to learn there.

Here is their link, their website is now up and running.
