Hello!
I am moving down to Silver Spring, MD from New York, and I recently became addicted to trapeze. Sadly, I have not been able to find trapeze in the MD/DC area... just as I get hooked!! Does anyone know of a place? Metro-accessible would be great, but if not: I pay for gas if you drive! :) What can I say? I need my fix!
Best,
Hannah

This class may be too basic for you, but there's a shuttle from Studio Serenity in Adams Morgan to the Trapeze School in Baltimore (TSNY).
www.studioserenity.com/FlyingTrapeze.htm
Studio Serenity invites you to join us for an exhilarating morning learning the art of flying! We will be heading to the Trapeze School in Baltimore (TSNY) to spend two fun hours flying trapeze.
What to expect from Flying Trapeze classes? In these two hours the instructors will warm you up with specific stretches and take you to a 'ground' level practice bar. Your safety belt is fitted and you will learn, on the practice bar, the 'position' to be performed whilst swinging.
You will be instructed how to 'take-off' on your first flight, with an instructor holding you at all times in your safety harness! The first trick learned is called a 'knee- hang'. Once you have mastered that in just a few swings you can also easily learn how to complete a 'back-flip' down to the net.
After 4 or 5 practice swings you are briefed for your big finale, the 'Catch'! One of our catchers will take you by the wrists as you release yourself from the bar and, hey presto, you'll be swinging from the catcher as though you were in the circus!

TRAPEZE AND FLYING CLASS
Saturday, November 17 at 4:15 PM
Do you want to experience the exhilaration of total freedom? Experience the joy of flying and dancing in the air. This is your chance to run away with the circus for a day and make all your childhood dreams come true.
This private low flying trapeze workshop provides each member with individual - as well as group- instruction from an experienced instructor as they swing through the air on trapezes. Classes are designed for beginners and anyone and everyone from all walks of life interested in learning how to fly. Trapezes are hung approximately 5 feet from the ground which is safer and everyone is individually guided based on their own level and ability. The workshop will focus on becoming familiar with basic aerial vocabulary such as: "knee hang, hip hang, pulling taffy, catchers hang, lion in tree, big X and much more.
The first part of class will be spend discussing aerial safety and then a complete warm up. We'll learn approximately 20 aerial positions and skills that you'll eventually take up into the air with big swings. Participants will gain upper body strength as well as an appreciation for aerial dance.
The sky is the limit.. literally!
Dress: No jewelry should be worn. We strongly recommended that you tie back long hair.
Pants: We suggest comfortable long pants such as exercise, tights, leggings or other non-restricting long pants. Shorts are not recommended as you can burn behind your knees. Jeans are also highly discouraged due to lack of movement. Sweat pants are encouraged.
Shirts: You can wear short sleeves or a tank top but the shirt should be long enough to cover your waist so the safety belt is not in contact with skin. If you wear long sleeves they must be loose enough to be pulled above the elbow for a catch.
Footwear: No shoes are allowed. Some people find that the rungs of the ladder hurt the bottom of their feet in which case you may want gymnastic shoes, or bring socks just in case.
Bottled water is permitted and recommended.
Check-in begins at 3:45pm and the class will start promptly at 4:00 pm.
When: Saturday, November 17 from 4:15 PM - 6:00 PM.
