      gotta eat the seeds

Last night I poured them on my ice cream......yummy.....

the nutrients in them seem to be very good..... and they are good for weight loss too..... they seem to make you less hungry because they expand ..... they have taken on the flavor of what ever you put them in..... I just put them in my cereal.... it was good.....so I'm giving them a try..... I need to look up more info on line....

    TrayC-

    I really like Chia seeds.

I make Chia Gel and add this to my morning smoothie. It gives it a luscious, thick consistency, and also helps to make it more substantial. I also just found a fruit bar that has Chia seeds in it, along with Raspberries and other goodies. It's excellent, and I'll probably come up with my own version to make at home.

Chia has some amazing gifts to share. And it's also really affordable, which is great. I found that they increase my energy. Not immediately, but over time. No surprise, since they're sometimes called "The Running Food" or "Mayan Running Seeds".

        TrayC-

The gel is super easy to make.

Add about 1/3 cup of Chia Seeds to 2 cups of filtered water. I do this in a glass jar with a lid, so I can just add the seeds, shake it like crazy for a minute and then let it sit in the fridge for 24 hours. The gel will keep for about a week and a half, maybe longer, though I usually finish my gel in a week, so I'm always remaking it.

I'll add a tablespoon or two of the gel to my smoothie, depending on how thick I want it. You can also just eat the gel straight out of the jar, add it water or juice, mix it in with cereal, etc. It's my understand that the gel is more nutritious than eating the seeds. The seeds can also be roasted first before being made into a gel. The gel can help with regularity, weight loss, heartburn, preventing infections, etc.

I found the bars at Whole Foods. They were made by Nature's Path, and had Dr. Andrew Weil's name on them. There were a few flavors, and not all of them had Chia Seeds in them. The one I had was called Chia Razz, and it has Raspberries, Chia Seeds, Dates, Cashews, etc. It was delicious, and I'm pretty picky when it comes to fruit/energy bars.

        Hope that helps!

And, like you, I've found that Chia Seeds helps my exercise too, both cardio (walking) and weight training. I am able to do more, work harder and have more energy while I'm working. Good medicine!

          Thank you so much....

I've been puttng them in a flavored water or crystal light.... 2 tbs to a bottle.... they gel up but you can still drink them.... pretty fun acutally!

I've popped them in my cereal too..... but need to brush my teeth right away..... so I don' t end up with chia furr grown!

I'll have to look for the bars..... that one sounds perfect!
