Wicked Awesome shit going on, so wish I were in the area to work with that sort of project...Anything you may know of in either the greater Salem, or even Eugene areas? Would love to hear about it. I am in a multi unit bldg, but my elder neighbor Bob and I have gone in on a few container spots with galdys and tomatoes, not depaved, but at least looks better...Please post more info for Salem or Eugene if you come across any.

i shall of course, but frankly I can't even keep up with all the lovely amazing things happening around here. just my own neighborhood overflows with food gardens, fruit trees, herb patches, rainwater collection, native grasses being rewoven into the landscape, chickens in yards, and on and on. everyone is on their bicycle headed for the village building convergence and carfree day celebrations. seriously there are two things to choose from. get your butt up here and be a part of it, or start instigating some shit down there.

So when you get your project going in Salem or Eugene, let us all know.

If every other street were to be depaved and turned into gardens, many urban areas could produce a large percentage of their own fresh vegetables. Calories would usually come from elsewhere in the form of industrial corn and grains, but for greens and tubers and salad vegetables, this is terrific stuff. I know that something like this has effectively been done on a variety of short "unimproved" streets in SE Portland.
