wow i have honestly never once seen crack, cocaine, heroin, or meth in eugene. wow that horrible i cant beleive someone would blow crack smoke at a sleeping person thats pretty fucked up. I live near downtown eugene and seldom do i ever see any hardcore drugs like that around but wow i hope i never do see such things. sorry you had a bad experience in eugene :(

I agree with you Lyra. I don't think anyone is deliberately letting such unsavory characters in, but there hasn't been a party I've been to (in Eugene or anywhere else) where I couldn't spot at least one person on cocaine, and more often than not at least several people either tweaking or on heroin (Benny, maybe you should look closer, i also live downtown, and rare is the day you can't wander downtown and find at least a couple of people twacked out or incoherent on heroin). i don't think that there's a their is anyone who thinks that drugs like these are ok (accept with cocaine, I've seen people very involved with this scene do cocaine, and if you use I don't really care, as long as you're not really hurting others with it) i think it's more the nature of the people running the parties. I think the fact that people are very busy, combined with the desire to see the best in people makes it easy to not notice when hard drugs are being used. This coupled with the problem of the fact that drugs are a part of the culture to begin with. It becomes difficult to express where to cut the line; marijuana, ecstasy,heroin, acid, mushrooms, pharmaceuticals,meth, research chemicals, opium, cocaine, and oh so many more. I bet if anyone drew up a list, there would be arguments among the best intentioned of us, about exactly what we think is and isn't ok, I don't think that these in discrepancies and lack of babying the scene have necessarily caused it to go down hill i any way.
