i The year 1992 is significant because of the first cubewano object 1992 QB1 being discovered and delineated. The event triumphs with an unending string of transneptunian discoveries like Varuna, Ixion, Quaoar, Orcus, 2005 FY9 and Eris. The first KBO to be delineated are those with H < 5, besides a set of (comparatively small) “outer guardians” (as published within our Nibiru Research Project) and distant comets. The large comets like Wild (and Machholz) qualify as apocalyptic door openers.
iiThe protest was that the Moon is in fact not a planet. If we were to introduce all of the moons of the solar system, then our own Moon would fit in., The P and X zodiac marked as obsolete.
iiiIAU Orion is however considered as closer to the ecliptic than Cetus. Sun in Orion and Cetus as standard sidereal positions.
ivSun in Orion is a possibility even within the IAU definitions, but Sun in Cetus is a slightly remote possibility, however open for academic research and of course haioled in astrology and exorcism, as Cetus remains the traditional constellation of the devil.
v 2014 is the crisis before 2020. The year 2014 has been first analyzed in our publication entitled AION, as concern the fall of Vatican. The subprime mortgage crisis may be at its peak in the year 2014.
vi WMAP cold spot in Eridanus, the great void.
vii The Witchållow materials have been party translated into Italian language. This is our first integral Italian publication dedicated to modern astrology.
viii By primary and secondary direction.
ix The role is twofold. The easiest way to direct Witchållow is to project it for tropical astrology use. In that way the WMAP cold spot becomes a fictitious dot at 10 degrees Taurus tropical. This projection nevertheless yields results in primary direction. The second way as especially applied to secondary progression is to keep the WEMAP cold spot in the place of origin in Eridanus while progressing objects.
x Zic, Klaudio. 2007. Witchållow. Klaudio Zic Publications.
xi The Academic Zodiac context includes the concept of the local zodiac as applied to horoscopes of beings, born on other planets. The Night & Day house system was introduced as our direct answer to the challenge of a single house system that would answer the logical needs of the astrologer as well as serve as didactic platform for the initiate. The Night & Day house system reflects the observed sky. While this statement may seem blunt, it nevertheless encapsulates mysterious simplicity. Let us not forget that the WMAP cold spot is rising in Eridanus in the Night & Day house system and nowhere else in all astrology over the past 3000 years. Neither the Chinese nor the Sumerian ever had such a house system, albeit it is the most obvious of all, being the blunt refection of the skies as we observe them from this planet Earth. Something so simple is surely welcome into our own technical culture, especially as able to handle our next step. Which is our next giant leap forward as technical culture? The Night & Day house system is able to handle local zodiacs on spacecraft as fed by the board computer. In other words while obsolete house systems could not handle Oslo in Norway, we are able to process horoscopes at any speed in whatever alien galaxy. The first obvious improvements are of topocentric nature, namely the Night & Day house system is able to analyze the horoscope for an undersea quake, as well as set the houses for the birthplace of Dalai Lama. The Cartesian system works anywhere in the galaxy with equal precision. Altitude is an integral part of the horoscope, as it is based on topocentric standards as implied within the Cartesian system. Depression and altitude affect the position of the Moon as well as other factors in a horoscope, especially when extreme. This point was largely overlooked by amateur astrology programs, which never prompted the operator at entering the altitude of the place. Considering the major difficulties that a superstitious astrology had in the past 3000 years, we can bluntly state that altitude is a minor problem of the past, successfully solved within the Night & Day house system. The Night & Day house system is actually based on azimuth and altitude, as following the logick of the observer. When the Moon is conjunct Jupiter in Orion one can see it. Whatever is shown in the house system can be observed in the real sky. Prior to our house system one could not find any relationship with the real sky as astrology was rightfully considered blunder and superstition. The Night & Day house system is not in the least confined to planet Earth only. In extension, we were able to assign local zodiacs to all the planets of the solar system; in addition, experimental areas as ruled by the Earth coorbitals, outer guardians, dwarf planets or comets. The results of our research were published under Zic, Klaudio. 2006. Planetocentric Astrology. Klaudio Zic Publications. Planetocentric astrology thus marks a giant step ahead for humankind ready to be born on other planets and spacecraft with precise horoscopes even horary charts. A baby having Sun in Cygnus within the Night & Day house system is already a reality within the Academic Zodiac framework. The Academic Zodiac namely extends to other planets, alien galaxies and spacecraft.
xii Zic, Klaudio. 2006. Venus in Hydra. Klaudio Zic Publications.
xiii Zic, Klaudio. 2005. Jupiter in Ophiuchus. Klaudio Zic Publications.
xiv Zic, Klaudio. 2005. Mercury in Orion. Klaudio Zic Publications. As Lady Diana Frances Spencer, late Princess of Wales, has Mercury in Orion in her own natal chart, our special attention was focused to unusual terrorist activity surrounding the princess’ jubilee. In an apocalyptic year such as 2007, even Mars in Cetus is taken into consideration as an incentive to underground terrorism much as it exploded in the London underground in the year 2005.

xvi Eris has been delineated as 2003 UB313 in the 12 houses of the horoscope. The original delineation are therefore unaffected by naming or even its nickname, Xena. Furthermore, “Eris in the 12 houses of the horoscope” has been separately applied to kids, the adolescent, women and even pets. This variegated approach to delineation follows on the trail of Quaoar, which has been delineated for love, finance and magick. Our first transneptunian delineation pertains to 1992 QB1. The major breakthrough was to come with 2000 WR106, Varuna; and whatever was written of Ixion, Sedna and 2002 TX300 is history.
xvii The X zodiac has been published on an early date, august 1st 2005. At the time, much as today we were fully operative and ready for analysis after working hard on TNO like Quaoar. Gigabytes of material were written and published around a single transneptunian object because it was so important to reach planetary status from being a mere transneptunian. The race begun silently in 1992 with the first cubewano, when astrologers were generally unaware of the new discoveries.
xviii Zic, Klaudio. 2006. Planetocentric Astrology. Klaudio Zic Publications.
xix The Moon has a special “last word” within the academic zodiac since it defines the 22nd constellation.
xx Zic, Klaudio. 2003. Venus in Special Constellations. Klaudio Zic Publications.
xxi Zic, Klaudio. 2004. I Ching Aspectarian. Klaudio Zic Publications.
xxii Zic, Klaudio. 2003. Cassini Lilith or LILIT VERA. Lulu Publications.
xxiii Prior to the discovery of the first cubewano, the astrologer had only a couple of centaurs to dabble with. Pholus, Nessus and Asbolus were joined by cubewano 1992 QB1. All delineation was made before the naming thus the original delineation for e.g. Varuna are copyrighted to Klaudio Zic. All TNO and centaur objects were delineated by Klaudio Zic as published on http://www.lulu.com/astrology
xxiv That is all centaurs were delineated as they were discovered until year 2007. As the centaurs were gradually named, they never really fitted into their original delineation completely, namely all objects were delineated prior to their naming by a committee. We are planning a major revision of the delineation of all centaurs in one volume. The centaurs that have been assigned temporary designation but were redesignated later as e.g. SDO, will be included in this edition. True, we have gradually lost interest in the upcoming centaurean discoveries since giant transneptunians kept us transfixed and busy. Gigabytes of material were written and scanned around a single TNO like Quaoar. When a new giant like Sedna appeared it naturally dwarfed any centaur in importance as it commanded respect along with our total commitment.
xxv Zic, Klaudio. 2003. Genesis Ascendant. Klaudio Zic Publications.
xxvi The number was reduced to 22 in August 2006.
xxvii The further studies of Eris in Phoenix (Phoenix Cycle) were based on this work.
xxviii Sets for various epochs are available from the site.
xxix The cubewano objects have received their name precisely from their predecessor 1992 QB1. The first cubewano was nicknamed “Smiley”, then came “Karla” with tradition continuing as “Xena” and “Easter bunny” kept on popping up. All the KBO and centaur objects were delineated prior to being named, thus no influence of Greek names or mythology haunts delineation. The incipient delineation included 1993 RO, 1993 SB, 1993 RP, 1993 FW; those were the first steps into the gloriously flowering field of transneptunian astrology. 1992 and 1993 refer to years so transneptunian astrology is now 15 years old with all TNO (transneptunian objects: cubewano, plutino, SDO and the new categories) with H < 5 delineated. Zic, Klaudio. 2006. Transneptunian Astrology VII. Klaudio Zic Publications. See also Zic, Klaudio. 2003. Dwarf Planets in the 7th House. Klaudio Zic Publications. All the enlisted dwarf planets were delineated by year 2006. Special publications were dedicated to 2003 EL61 and 2005 FY9.
Bardon's Relationships to psychology

I have always been struck (as the founding members of Frabato's Stage know), with the very interesting way in which Bardon tackles the issues of the practitioners of his system. Bardonian hermetics is one of the few styles of magickal development that truly and DIRECTLY approaches practical, theraputic-style psychology within a magickal framework.

What other styles/systems/books/essays have any of you seen that allows for such a direction and personal approach to magick and self development?

I have read many versions of explanations of practical occult psychology. Dion Fortune writes extensively on the subject, as does Paul Foster Case, Mme Blavatsky, Stephen Mace and Peter Carroll... one could also contend that Carlos Castaneda incorporates significant discussions the subject.

I was wondering what perspectives our groups might have regarding the differing approaches to occult psychology...

I just ran across a copy of the only existing fragments of FB's fourth book "the Golden Book of Wisdom". It is online as a PDF file at the following link:

http://athenaeum.asiya.org/Bardon_Golden_Book_of_Wisdom.pdf

that the police destroyed the tapes that Franz dictated is one of the greatest crimes against humanity. It is on a par with the "Missionaries" destroying the written records of the Easter Island people; describing how the monolithic figures were erected and the Mystical system of their ancient priests.

Hello All,

I wanted to post to see if people are still working with Bardonian principles and, if so, what you can share with us... heck, what can you share with us if you HAVEN'T?

I'll begin:
I took an inadvertant left turn and spent a lot of time being quite airy. I'm returning to the Bardonian work as of today. I'm going back to the beginning. I tend to get stuck on the creation of the magical mirror at step one... which is why I'm returning to this step-- I'm trying to address my weakness at the outset.

So, this post is both an invitation to share as well as a public statement of intent. I guess that seems to fly in the face of the virtue of silence, but I think that's a surface concern. In this forum, it's about sharing in this regard: believe me, I have no plans to post my intent in bold letters on my garage door.

Outside of magical work I've been considering returning to writing (remember: if I've sent you my work, you are ALWAYS welcome to use it in ANY way you wish as long as it remains in tact and credit is given-- and I'll let someone know if a particular piece needs to remain in my sole perview).

Best Wishes,
Papa

I will distribute an introductory guide to Hermeticism (gratis), and a regimen of exercises utilizing the Hermetic Principles to "morp" the individuals life (also gratis). In the short period of this lecture: LIVES WILL BE CHANGED!!!

I invite all of my old friends to come as well as those new friends and colleagues whom I have not yet had the pleasure of meetinging person. If you are outside of the New York City area and can't attend, please share this information with friends who can. The venue offers limited space so please come a little early for the best selection of seating.
Principles and Covenants Revisited: aka: The Frabato Remix

Hello All.

I hop everyone is doing well.

I know we have been quiet for quite some time but I hope that nobody is entirely losing faith in our tiny tribe. We are here when you need us... post when you please. Attention and activity are not our goal--gnosis is our goal.

I wanted to post today for three reasons:
1. To remind our members that we welcome your questions. Althouh our emphasis is on F.B., we are always happy to entertain legitimate questions about magick and the occult.
2. To show our "new" members our original intent. I encourage anyone who is discouraged by our minimal activity to look at the earliest posts on this tribe.
3. To celebrate: Some of you may recall that I had written an essay entitled "The Book of Beginnings" . As it turns out, Jason A. Newcomb has taken an interest in it and is asking that I edit it for publication in his newsletter. Jason's work pays special attention to F.B.'s work and he includes the Balancing of the Elements in his work, "The New Hermetics".-- also, he utilizes pore breathing and the magic of water and food.

In any case, I hope that all of you are doing well. I hope that your work is progressing (regarless of your path) and that you are better now than you were yesterday.

Regards,
Papa

>>>>>>>
At the suggestion of Al, we will begin discussing the direction we would like our little community to go.

Allow me to offer some suggestions:
1. I believe we should invite only those people who seem as though they have a genuine interest. A) it would be nice if we maintained our focus on Bardon and B) let's not bore anyone who is not interested in the subject :-)

2. Absolute no flaming. I think it should be one of our primary directives that we will not tolerate ass-holes. I don't mean that people cannot politely disagree. Attacking others, however, is inexcusable.

3. We should each (all current and future members) make the effort to maintain the focus of this tribe on Bardon, his work and directly related subjects... if someone brought in commentary by Rawn Clark or had questions about the Hermetica, for instance, that would likely be appropriate.

4. No one will take the roll of "teacher". If we have one or more members who are knowledgeable, that is wonderful but this tribe is in no way to become a cult of personality. Additionally, we are all students... let's keep our work in mind and put our egos aside.

5. We will welcome everyone. In reference to my first point: once someone is on the tribe we should not judge their motivations. If an atheistic, skeptic shows up and desires genuine discourse then we will welcome them and entertain any questions or thoughtful comments... assuming they are willing to manage their behavior in the same manner as any other person on the tribe.

Let share some perspectives on this...

I don't think I've ever brought up my experience with the OTA (Ordo Templi Astarte). The OTA is a hermetic, magickal organization begun by Carroll "Poke" Runyon, a magickian of no small skill. The emphasis of the OTA is on evocation of goetic entities, or "demons". The OTA holds that such entities are psycholigical, BUT that the scope of the human mind is, essentially, all encompassing... of course, this holds true with both Bardonian style magick and Hermetics in general (if you are new to hermetics, you would be well served to read "The Kybalion" by the Three Initiates. It can be found for under $20.00, and free on the internet).

As many of you know, this is a reference to "The Universe is Mental"-- a law of hermetics/magick.

Bardon never says that spirits are mental. Crowley, DuQuette and Runyon do. What is your perspective?

Take Care,
Papa

I've been considering posting this for some time but didn't know whether it would be appropriate to serious discussions of magick and Bardon in particular. I've finally concluded that it is, indeed, relevant if for no other reason that the majority of us may have opinions on the subject and may, indeed, have strong ones.

Before I pose my question, I would like to say "hiya everytone" and thank each of you for a) sticking around during our quiet times and b) not spamming the tribe needlessly.

The question: What relationship/relevance do you believe "The Secret" has to magick in general and to Bardon in particular?

To begin, I feel that it presents an excellent primer on the mechanics of proper thinking... I am slightly disappointed by the materialistic focus but I also understand that, for marketing purposes, there are so many people who feel financially overwhelmed out there, that interest in the metaphysical/mystical/magickal sometimes gets lost behind secular concerns and so the bent toward material gain is natural (which is not to say that I entirely approve, I simply understand).

The Writings of Dr. Georg Loermer

In doing my ongoing research into Hermeticism I ran across the following link:

http://athenaeum.asiya.org/Lomer_7_hermetic_letters.pdf

It is to the "7 Letters in Hermeticism" by Dr. Loermer. The following is the Introdcution to the book, which is presented in pdf format.

In the appendix to the first edition of Franz Bardon's novelized
autobiography, Frabato The Magician, the reader will find excerpts from Dr. Georg Lomer's work.

At that time it was not known to the publisher that the material published under the title of "High Magic" was in fact the
work of Dr. Lomer. The manuscripts included no reference to this author, and though his name was contained in the Czech
translation, this was not known to the original German publisher until recently. It is, however, important to note that Bardon
considered Dr. Lomer's instructions to be of great value, otherwise he would not have had them translated into Czech for
the benefit of his students.

Dr. Lomer's Seven Hermetic Letters belong, without a doubt, among the most valuable magical treatises of the 20th
century. We are pleased that we have been given the opportunity to publish this book. The original title contained the words
"secret science," which, since the publication of the Bardon books, have lost their earlier significance.

We are aware that many students do not adhere strictly to the instructions of the masters, and do their exercises aimlessly
without giving any serious thought to the consequences. We would like to briefly address the dangers to which the student
subjects himself when he makes improper use of the magic sciences. In paragraph 7 of the Fifth Letter of this book, Dr.
Lomer recommends exercises whereby the consciousness is transferred into the feet and other parts of the body. For those
who have reached the "magical equilibriun" in accordance with the instructions given in Bardon's Initiation Into Hermetics,
these exercises are not harmful. However, without this magical equilibrium the student subjects himself to certain dangers,
concerning which Bardon warns us in The Key To The True Kabbalah, pp. 55-58 (1996 edition).

In these days, self-cognition is not much in demand; that is why the strictness of Dr. Lomer's instructions may touch some
readers unpleasantly. But whosoever has the strong wish for spiritual perfection will not be discouraged. The exercises of
spiritual, astral and physical asceticism are intended to serve a higher purpose, rather than one's own selfish desires. We like
to compare the ascetic to a competitive athlete who must impose upon himself a certain rigorous lifestyle if he wishes to
unfold his entire energy during competition.

The ascetic exercises serve, among other things, to strengthen the will power and harmonize the astral, whereby the
main emphasis is to be placed upon thought control and character training. When it comes to character training, we recommend
following the example of the four elements as described in Bardon's Initiation Into Hermetics. Not only must one carry
out quite a bit of detail work upon the path to a "magical equilibrium," but one must also pass many examinations, for which
courage and good psychic or astral stability are required.
Dr. Georg Lomer was born on September 12, 1877 in Loosten near Wismar and died in 1957. The original issue of these
letters seems to have originated in the 1920s or 1930s; unfortunately, Lomer's writings do not contain any dates, whether of
the day, month or year.

Hello, Everyone! I'm new to the tribe, and SO glad to be here!
I'm definately a novice so you can be sure I'll be asking a lot of questions!
I first read the name Franz Bardon while exploring the net a few years back; I just stumbled upon it. Once I started reading about his life and work, I went out and purchased Frabato the Magician (which I quickly realized after seeing the cover that this same title was in my grandfather's library as well!)
So, after reading the book, I began reading Initiation into Hermetics, Questions and Answers, and most recently, Memories of Franz Bardon. I find the work fascinating, but I'm always feeling frustrated and a bit lost when it comes to actual practice. Being a full time mom and wife and seamstress, my schedule rarely allows proper time for practice. I've wondered if anyone here has a similar situation to deal with? I'd love to hear how everyone fits this into their regular everyday lives.
I'm so eager to get to read more posts and share ideas with everyone here!

Challenging Bardon! En Garde! ... or whatever

I just got back from Canada and visitng with my friends from The Apostolic Johannite Church and their sponsored magical group, The Friary (a group of Gnostic Christian magical practitioners). The discussion was great. It included some questions about why the church and The Friary is run the way it is run. The discussion was very open even though it challenged the established teachings, the conversation was conducted with humor and a very respectable degree of open dialogue.

So, let's stirup some shit (... in a respectful way...).

Point one: we all here either respect Bardon, respect magick or want something more in our lives ( and I hope THAT is the real point of our little community).

Point two: this is a forum dedicated to the serious examination of the work of Franz Bardon. (regardless of whether or not the ENTIRE conversation is about Grand Daddy B.)

Point three: we often compare Bardon's work to the work of others. (a helpful practice, I believe, especially for those from other traditions).

Point four: some of us consider ourselves practitioners of other systems, or of no system in particular. (I, for one, am a free-style & intuitive practitioner)

Point... Well. THE point of this post: some people complain about Bardon. What are your frustrations, concerns, problems or hang-ups? Let's do what no other Bardon list would be likely to do... talk openly about what bothers us.

For me, here they are...
1. Little ritual structure: ya see, I'm not a ritual guy, so I need loads of guidance. If you talk about rituals and then give me little or no guidance, I'm lost. I think "Why use a ritual? Why not just freak out in the middle of the mall and use all the KEWL emotional energy from that to do what you want?"...
2. Incomplete references: Bardon references the East or instructs in practices that were not present in Europe much before his time that originated in Asia. I feel that some of the references should have been further discussed... Hardcore Bardonian magicians often say his system is complete. Really? Where is the complete discussion on karma? Akasha? He references these things but gives on the most summative explanations... An eastern teacher might make the point that it would take years to understand these concepts. Bardon references the Tarot... clearly there is no real instruction given, however.
3. Expectation: Anyone. Can. Do. It. ... ... Really? Can anyone?
...
...
...
...
Yes. I believe they can but Bardon occasionally paints a very optimistic picture of the objective effects that can be achieved. Objective results are difficult; especially ones that can't be explained away.

Disclaimer:

Before our group linches me know these things:
1. I do believe that Bardon's system is THE most complete, balanced, sane and "for real" out there.
2. I understand that Bardon might say that we will undestand these issues (karma, akasha, rituals, etc.) as we grow.
3. Anything else that might make you defensive is probably your issue, so let me keep sleeping... .... I'm exhausted from the flight.

Sorcery vs. Magick

I've noticed that many people make distinctions between sorcery and magick. By that I mean that some feel that causing "real" effects in the objective world is sorcery while the persuit of the divine is "magick", specifically high-magick.

From my perspective, Bardon takes a middle tack. When you look at later exercises in IIH you will notice that it requires the practioner to cause changes in the physical environment and the the change must be a measurable one (increasing/decreasing the ambien temperature of a room, for example).

In step 8, however, the entire work of the magician is focused on getting in touch with "the personal god"... apotheosis. So, the Bardon's work culminates in getting in touch with the divine.

From this perspective, I almost consider Bardon's work to be "sourcery"... by which I mean seeking the divine source on a path that traverses the mastery of physical effects.

Doing the work

Hello,
Just checking in with everyone.

I'm very aware that magical work can be difficult to maintain on a daily basis and I've certainly had my ups and downs but I've recently felt a need to reinvigorate my practice and I was wondering if anyone else is having the same experience.

If you are comfortable doing so please share how your practice is going, how you are dealing with negative inertia and what you've done, specifically with your practice.

I'll begin:
My practice has improved of late. I am studying more G:.D:. material as well as stuff on Qabalah and will be cracking Bardon's works again, as well. Ritually, I am slightly more active than I have been in the last year and a half and have begun to do work even when I'm not in the mood. I've found that I get more benefit when I work regardless of my wants.

I hope this finds you all well,
Papa Hush

Greetings, all

I am a new member here. I've posted most of my traveling so far in my 'bio' on the 'tribe.' But for a pertinent recap; In the 1980's I learned some major hermetics and healing via "Do-In", I attended a class given by a buddhist monk during the kalichackra initiation in Madison, Wisconsin led by the dali lama, massage healing (numerous methodologies) chackra awakening and meditating. Experienced a deep immersion christianity experience for the next 5 years and again for the past 5 years have re-met a need to emmerse myself into the Franz Bardon methods of study.

I have been in a meditation group with Rawn Clark YHVH-ADNI, via email and meditations held at the same time for a group of us. From that experience; I was late once and perturbed Rawn and was new, so he didn't know me... but at the last group meditation I saw something in the meditation that was not prescribed in the notes before the meditation, and that was each of we 5 participants standing on a differently colored disc. I wrote in email about this. Rawn said in his email that he added something that was not mentioned beforehand, each of us in a different colored shaft of light. Rawn mentioned to me that he couldnt' verify that my email response about this wasn't sent 'after' he had sent his email, so he questioned my validity on the topic. Shaking my head.... as this was one reason I had to leave his group, secondly I was realizing that his meditations and methods were pulling me away from the Bardon methodology as it was not related, and that led me to realize that Rawn's methods came from a Golden Dawn background. So, yes, Rawn Clark was also helpful to me in my newness to the Franz Bardon material, but then I had to find my own way... as we all do. And in the end... either Franz Bardon 'speaks' to each of us inwardly ... and we go with it. Or we don't. Shrugs.

I have also been influenced by William Mistele, and his numerous writings on conversations and experiences with the spirit beings. As it turned out, as I began laying a background of meeting some of these same spirit beings the resemblances of 'feeling' of experiences led me to wholy believe him and his experiences, and nod in agreement. And I realized; how little humanity 'really' has given to these beings in relationship. I met with Bill a few times, always honorable, upright, honest, forthright and friendly. He is the same offline as in his writings. I don't think Bill nor Rawn, nor Franz would want anybody 'really' to follow them or hold them up in high esteem as venerated one... but rather they nod whenever one is helped along the way on their path by anything said or done by their selves.

It is good to be amongst others who are doing the work in their inner workshops.
I wish you well,
Chuck

Parallels between Bardon and Freestyle/Chaos magics

Just a couple of things about this interesing subject of how Bardon can be combined with other ideas - and also on how I feel his stuff differs.

The good old Step 1 magics of food, breathing and water seem to be totally essential to Bardon's style of Hermetics - of course they're phenomenally effective. In a discussion on his website about smoking, Rawn Clark mentioned that one could certainly smoke for the fulfillment of a wish, so food and breath are not the only things useable. In 'Memories of Franz Bardon', there are a couple of interesting passages written by Bardon's student, Dr. M.K., suggesting ways of going further -

"Everything he [ie., an Hermetic] undertakes in his daily life he does analagously as if it were a magical activity - may that be when he walks, or sweetens his coffee, or adds spices or other ingredients to his food. He does so as if it were a magical activity in accordance with the occasion and he links it with magical numbers. He imagines every drop is charged with a particular attribute and he never doubts the effect."

"... charge your food and drink with positive attributes, inhale them and repeat this process in all your automatic movements, for example when you walk. Imagine that the negative attributes are leaving you, for example while shaving, when having a bowel movement, when exhaling, etc."

I've tried all the above and they do work needless to say. For so much magic intended to produce change within oneself, there is no separation of ritual from ordinary life, instead the ordinary life becomes the ritual.

The idea that smoking can be used brings a peace pipe to mind - this is a group version of what in Hermetics is a single-person practice. Similarly, in 'Visual Magick', Jan Fries writes about a practice he got from a Yoruba priest. Two cups are passed around a group of people - one cup begins as empty and the other as full. Each person receives the cups and s/he places a wish into the full one, then pours some of that liquid into the other cup, and passes the cups on. When all have wished and poured, the cup that was empty has been filled with wishes, and everyone drinks.

I've found that the wish-formula itself is a good place to use sigils. Bardon used graphic sigils only for spirits, so far as I know, but essentially his use of 'finger rituals' and so forth is very much equivalent to the Spare use of sigils. In IIH he writes that 'everything depends upon his [the student's] individuality and gift of perception' in regard to this.

In the 'Memories' book, Bardon's mother-in-law recalls a time when he stopped a thunderstorm from ruining a harvest - 'He looked very stern, and muttered some words, made a few motions with his hands and fingers...' - and the rain stopped. Once Spare was asked if he could make it rain, and did so, by drawing a sigil onto a bit of paper and concentrating on it. So for Spare, sigils could accomplish what finger-rituals did for Bardon.

This can easily be used with the wish-formula idea. Make a sigil by any method and use this to represent, or add power to, the idea you inhale or eat and so forth. Because of my interest in numerology and music, I often make rhythms to say words in (both real and nonsense/chaos words) that correspond by number to the wish.

At the beginning of 'Visual Magick', Fries remarks that sigils are only one form of 'seed':

"They may be visual, as sigils; or acoustic, as tunes, Chaos song or mantra; they may be physical, such as chance objects found in the wild on shamanic journeys; or they may find their form in dance, ritual or event-experience."

The difference between the way most modern magicians will use sigils and the way Bardon's 'magic of the ordinary action' works seems to me to be mostly that modern magic doesn't use 'ordinariness' so much. Bardon's ideas are very earthing - just as you repeatedly sleep and wake, breathe and eat, so you repeatedly do magic and weave it into the structure of your life. Repetition is central to his idea of how to change the self and open it up, whereas one-shot magic is more the rule in most other systems I know of, unless one is talking about very general banishing procedures and so forth - Bardon's wish-formulas are quite specific.

There's one more area in which it seems to me that Bardon differs from the modern magicians who descend from Spare. It seems really important to me but I would really like other people's opinions on this.

Much Chaos Magic works by the meanings of sigils being forgotten by the magician. The idea is that they can then work without conscious interference . Fries describes how the 'many parts of your personality' can interfere with the transmission of the wish-seed, which is why he recommends an attitude of indifference towards the sigil. In Bardon however, it is continuously emphasised that everything done magically should be done as a conscious wish, with full knowledge of the magician.

I personally prefer Bardon's attitude. The attitude of Fries suggests to me that the personality need not be unified and balanced so as to be of one accord in magical terms, whereas the whole point of Bardon is to unify the personality in precisely those terms. In other words, the Bardon wish takes into account the conscience of the magician... I could talk more about this but I'd love to hear anyone else's comments.

I'd also love to hear more on how other people combine Bardonian practices with other streams - not just Chaos or whatever, but anything and everything. These things really do fascinate me!

One more thing occurs to me. In 'Zos Speaks' (by Kenneth & Steffi Grant), Spare is described as trying - unsuccessfully - to explain to a student how a certain painting worked magically. He said that it all came down to 'as if'. I can't quite find the passage now, but he implied that 'as if' was the whole key to magic. This reminds me very much of what M.K. said above - "everything he does, he does *as if* it were a magical activity". I do like that idea - 'as if'....

As ever I spouted big, sorry! But I'd love to get some thoughts on these things.

best j

I've said many times on this forum that the thing I find most fascinating and useful about Bardon's brand of magic is the creation of the soul mirrors and the attainment of the magical equilibrium of the elements.

I've been considering what degree of personal mastery it takes to master magical work. Can a person really claim to be a magician is they continuously roll out of bed ten minutes after they are supposed to be to work? Can they claim to be enlightened if they are having ongoing arguments with their romantic partner? Can a person claim to be a magician if they can't hold down a steady job or business? Does a person get to claim they are living a magical life just because they have a pentagram tatooed on their can? (nothing against occult tattoos... I have plenty; I'm just pointing this out by way of illustration).

Distilled, are my questions to the tribe: what constitutes a magician and a magical life? What do you think Bardon would say about the degree of self-mastery that is necessary to be in touch with things spiritual?

Welcome to those of you who have joined in the last several weeks.

I just wanted to suggest that, if you have not already done so, kindly take some time to read the "Principles and Covenants" thread. It will give you an idea of what we actually do here as well as clue you into the reason behind some of the silence in our little community.

Free Numerology Report Anyone?

Hi everyone -

I've been studying numerology for a while now and I have a system that I think works for general mantic purposes. However I've yet to try the ultimate test - charts for people I've never met. If anyone would like one, all I need is your full original name (ie. what you parents called you, no nicknames/shortenings etc.) and your date of birth.

The report basically will consist of a few pages of notes on your character and on your life, plus detailed information about past present and future events, with particular emphasis on the current situation. I've tried to design my system primarily for 'muggles' (non-magicians) so the info is not necessarily expressed esoterically. However it could be useful stuff to ponder for the soul mirror or whatever. Seeing as how you guys definitely are *not* muggles I could try to translate the information into elemental terms, but I don't really have a system for that yet.

BTW my system is *not* like anything that comes spewing from a computer on auto! I do take great care over it and I work with intuition rather than just mechanically.

Numerology basically interprets energies of the self in terms of life circumstances, destiny, character and motivation, in ordinary human terms. In addition it can answer specific questions about current life energies/events/choices/puzzles if desired - so if you like you can let me know about something specific to look into - and also can give propitious dates for anything including magical operations. I know some of you probably use astrology for this already (eg. Dian) but the numerology can be a valuable addition.

All I ask in return is feedback as to how well I did! - as honest as possible, no bullshit.

I do use numerology for magical purposes also. I've been meaning to start a thread on the additional stuff I and everyone else does to complement Bardon, because it seems everyone here is equally different and interesting, so I'll save more on that subject for there I guess. I would like to firm up my system for magical numerology and maybe one day in the future it could be a project of some kind for this board - assuming it's of interest.

Can I just say, the vibe on this board is absolutely tremendous. It's the best online discussion of magic I've ever seen/taken part in. So thanks everyone, and P.H. for moderating!

I have a question for everyone...

I am writing a treatise for beginning practitioners of magic. I am not yet done but I need some input. Would anyone be willing to read the essay and let me know if I am being too biased.

Before you answer: the essay is intended to help neophytes choose a path. I set up some basic exercises and recommend a few books and give very summative explainations of several systems.

My problem: I am a free-style practitioner who, for "religious" reasons, uses ogdoadic and G:.D:. methods. My preference, in terms of exercises, is for Bardon and I have a profound respect for the passionate magic of Spare... soooo, I don't want this to bleed overly much into the essay.

Would anyone be willing to read the essay to proofread and to let me know if the perspective I'm writing from is too biased?

Hi there Al and fellow Bardonians -

Al you mentioned Bill Mistele would it be ok for me to ask how high is the regard you hold him in and what is the reason for that regard? I must admit I have always been a bit hard-pressed to tell if he is really up to much actually... since you mentioned him I looked over his site again and I have to say that I don't really have a good reaction to his writings.

We talked a little bit about this in the "work" thread but I thout it might be a subject unto itself.

I've heard it said (and I agree) that much of Bardon's teachings were of Eastern origin and that he was heavily influenced by the Theosophical society. Regardless of the origins of much of the practice it is very clear that the philosophical underpinnings as well as much of the magical technique presented by Bardon is of Hermetic orgin (the creation of a homonculous is quite western and is actually discussed in the practical Hermetica, for instance).

Is anyone aware of other influences on Bardon's system?

What has influenced your own work?

All completely true:

1. Was once in a close relationship with an undine, but had to break it off because she had a jealous partner.

2. Once cursed a farmer who hated him and kept driving through puddles at him. Then he had to spend ages undoing every bit of the curse.

3. First met his wife when she came to have her fortune told. She asked him which of two men she would end up marrying - but he knew she was gonna marry him... "No the guy you marry will be about my height, my colour hair... basically he's going to look alot like me..."

4. A manuscript containing the exact process for making the philosopher's stone was kept under lock and key in his study.

5. He had no feeling in his sacrum, from the gestapo having kicked him repeatedly in that area.

6. He was a very good cook.

7. He smoked 40-60 cigarattes a day. Sometimes he would stop for a whole year to strengthen his will, but the following year he had to start again because he had to fulfil the whole of the karma of Franz Bardon, whose body he was in and whose fate he had taken on.

8. He used to let his wife copy out magical formulas. Once when she did so a black rooster appeared and began flapping about the room. (She was mumbling the words under her breath...)

9. The prime accusation he would have faced at trial under the communists (had he not first died in jail) was of not paying taxes on the alocohol he used for his remedies.

10. As well as the smoking and the (incredibly painful) decay of the pancreas from which he suffered, he also had an underactive thyroid. Yet he worked constantly for his whole life, had only a couple of hours sleep a night, and was always brimming with energy and good humour.

- all from "Memories of Franz Bardon", by his son Dr Lumir Bardon and his student Dr M.K. Apologies to those who've already read it.

Sharing A Thought On Magic

This is a thought that has occurred to me often.

If I have an orange and I give it to you, I no longer have the orange. The orange can only be in one place at a time.

But if I have a *thought*, and I give it to you, I still have it also.

It seems that in the *physical* world, there is always take with give. There is always either/or. There is only so much to go round.

But in the *mental* world, there is infinite supply. Giving something to someone else makes *more* of it, not less.

In Bardon's course, you learn to make with the mind and then manifest what you make in the physical, by means of conviction and will. Thus you take from where there is infinite supply and enrich what is material with it. That to me is how magic works. The stronger you can make your imagination, the more you can do with it.

Physical life is limited - in scope, in span. But if I want more of the colour red in my life, I have only to close my eyes and there it is.

With the elements it is the same. You have only to imagine it. And the better you get at imagining, the more you can use this infinite supply of imagination to affect physical reality. There is always more of the water element. You can always add more fluidity to a situation. There is infinite possibility, and all it takes is imagination and will, that THIS IS SO.

Hmm... did that make any sense?
first reading: 4 elements

One (if not THE) driving concepts behind the system that Bardon espouses is "elemental equillibrium"... In fact it is one of the first things that he discusses in the section we are studying now.

I think there is a fair amount of confusion, though, as to what the elements actually are.

Often, people insist that the physical elements are the elements that Bardon speaks of. I'm not certain that is an effective way to look at the elements, hermetically speaking. It seems to me that the four physical elements simply embody those energies that ARE the elements.

In the case of Bardon's system, I think it is especially important to be able to "stand back" and see it from this perspective or one may get caught in the trap of equating the physical phenomenon with the spiritual equivalent.

Thoughts?

"enlightenment" & confusion

As I've read through Bardon's work as well as the works of others, most notably Stephen Mace; Aleister Crowley and Lon DuQuette, I've been struck with an absence of an emphasis on enlightenment.

Ostensibly the function of magic, as it is usually taught, is enlightenment. However, the works generally suggest a bias toward objective results rather than subjective bliss. I suppose that one might argue that the objective results are indicative of progress toward enlightenment. In yogic practice the student is warned that dwelling on these results is a trap, that it leads one away from unity.

This confused me at first but I have come to reconcile the emphasis on results that can be detected with the 5 physical senses and the attainment of enlightenment.

I was wondering if anyone else has had similar things confuse them...

I am so pleased to see that Papa Hush has been so generous to Initiate and Moderate this tribe. I salute his initial suggestion of a Franz Bardon Thread that lead to this new tribe and his not wanting to be the "Leader" instead of starting a "Moderated" tribe where his ego would have been stroked by "control". Thank you Papa.

I would like to suggest that we Commence this tribe's dialogues and topics with some sense of purpose and commitment to a structure. I would like to ask that we start a "Principles and Covenants" thread wherein we would be albe to find a consensus about content as well as standards of communication. I am sure we all have the experience of poorly directed unfocused tribes that swell to a large size and have no posts. I personally have no problem with postings listings and a topics post directing members to the listings post for a workshop or professional services; but I think we should draw the line at online Marketing. I think that there should be some sort requirement that the workshop or Professional service be related to the writings, concept, interpretation, or impact of FRANZ BARDON. I don't care if you have FB's portrait tatooed on both the palms of your hands. That doesn't make a massage a Franz Bardon Massage. In a case like that I think we would need to have a public statement of our inability to understand how the matter was related to the WRITINGS OF FRANZ BARDON or anything about FRANZ BARDON.

Beyond this provisio I would like to suggest that this thread kept on-going or that a regular new Bardon Community thread be started weekly or monthly. Some other threads I would suggest are; new publication or republication of Bardon Commentaries, each of the Books starting with IIH, using the Bardon system of empowering and training Magicians, and other regular topic categories that I haven't thought of. Whatever and how many of these will be opened they will be invaluable as a collection of interrelated materials. These could even form the nucleus of an attributable Bardon Authority that might even grow into its own entity separate from tribe.net.

Elemental equilibrium

The first thing that attracted me to Bardon's work was the magical equilibration of the elements (from steps one and two). It seems like a given but so few system address this issue.

I remember having a discussion with a friend a couple of years back. We were in agreement that many modern magicians seemed to think they could have "ULTIMATE COSMIC POWER" (itty bitty living space) but still roll into work half an hour late, be incapable of controlling their temper, have a drug problem, have profound problems keeping their personal lives together and so on and on and on...

The conclusion we came to was that magcians, at the very least, were people who were very focused on the act of growing. That, although they were completely human and ,hence, fallabel they were also adjusting their inner lives to more harmoniously manage their outer lives.

From my perspective that is the point of attaining elemental equilibrium.

Has anyone had similar conversations?

Are there other systems that do this, or is it unique to Bardon's system? I heard that Castaneda's writing includes commentary that suggests that some of the North/Central american spiritual traditions contained similar practices... does anyone have experience with this?
