Sorry guys...
I've had quite a bit of messages that Tribe won't let me get to; can't respond to anyone's messages...
Not sure why, I can barely login altogether...
So I'm taking this opportunity to apologize to those that have been waiting to hear back from me... Sorry! It's not my fault...I'm trying everyday but Tribe just won't let me get that far! I feel so lucky right now that I'm logged in!
I can read your messages from my email but when I go to Tribe to respond...our trusty & reliable Tribe.net will not let me get to it after over a weeks try...
Please email me directly if you need to get a hold of me: frederique@nouveau-voixdeville.com
I am SO frustrated....

Mon, July 21, 2008 - 6:50 PMIs anyone else having this issue?!?!?
Is it just me?
Are they watching me for the roof top next door and not approve? WTF?!?! -

Re: Grrrrrr.....

Re: Uh Huh...
Mon, July 21, 2008 - 9:26 PMNo, it's not just yu, Fred.
Tribe has been extremely aggravating in terms of log in issues to the point of being mental! I dunno how or why I put up with it; I know Big Donut may still befall my Tribe account gold star or not. Hangin on for sentimental reasons or whatever it is :/
Which is why many of my Tribe friends also have access to my private email, a couple even have my number, and some know my MySpace and/or vice versa.
I think it's a great idea for everyone to have an email back-up for the need to get in touch directly. We can all still use the discussion fora on Tribe for when we are able to log in. -

Re: Uh Huh...
Thu, July 24, 2008 - 11:28 AMRight... I like that...
Thanks guys... I was going out of my mind! Still am really...
Today was easier...but I still had the ol' ---> Login, 'temporary unavailable' screen, then go back and be logged in... Sigh.................................................................................................................. -

Re: Uh Huh...
Thu, July 24, 2008 - 12:19 PM"temporary unavailable screen"
I wish I could put one of those at my cube door.....

Re: Uh Huh...
Thu, July 24, 2008 - 12:50 PM<Login, 'temporary unavailable' screen>
Technology was supposed to make our lives easier, but unfortunately it can be more hype than substance :(
Last year when Tribe had so many donut freak moments, my finger got so conditioned to hitting and rehitting refresh and home that I now do it without the slightest thought :/ -

Re: Uh Huh...
Thu, July 24, 2008 - 1:33 PMWord... Ive been on here for over an hour trying to get shit done as I've been able to do four times the amount on other sites... like myspace for instance... Got new photos up there in a jif! Let's see now how many hours it will take to upload a few photos here...if at all...
I hate limitations. -

Re: Uh Huh...
Thu, July 24, 2008 - 1:52 PMI think for artists, a MySpace site is indispensable. I myself finally put some work into my MySpace page a coupla years ago (in spite of opening it 6 months after Tribe) in order to connect with (mainly music) artists that are not on Tribe.
And now that MySpace is competing with Facebook, they also notify on the homepage as to your friends' recent updates be it pics, songs, blog, etc :)
Tribe when it works is kinda neat cuz one gets to browse tribes and threads while viewing pics and whatever, making it a somewhat more complete online experience. Facebook's layout gives me a headache altho that is what I used to say of MySpace four years ago.
Tribe's initial success was primarily with the burner and bellydance communities. Most of the kids who just wanted the latest online social site have since moved on to Facebook. Hopefully, Tribe lives up to the promise of serving its most loyal and longtime customers. -

Re: Uh Huh...
Thu, July 24, 2008 - 3:12 PMThe difference I notice is:
MySpace - full of hackers that steal info & send spam. Good for general info deployment.
Facebook - silly games mostly. Nothing much of substance.
Tribe - good for conversation. When it works it is fantastic for last minute event updates, Q&A, picture sharing, and worker/volunteer coordination. I have yet to find a better alternative when *everyone* is centrally located. -

Re: Uh Huh...
Fri, July 25, 2008 - 9:53 AMThere is so much security on Myspace now... You just have to go to your security preferences? tab and fish around... I've only [sort of] been hacked...once...a few years ago before all the 'type in the letters' etc. stuff... In fact I'm not really sure if it happened but I just got paranoid...
Reliability is really important to me... every minute counts when your multitasking... And the winner goes to....
Tribe and Myspace are both equally important to me however I find myself on Myspace due to it's reliability. -

This is the maximum depth. Additional responses will not be threaded.
Re: Uh Huh...
Fri, July 25, 2008 - 10:18 AMOnce hacked, twice shy...
After being hacked once on MySpace, I now look at the url to see if I'm on the real page or a phishing page. And especially on MySpace, I don't feel compelled to accept any friend request that comes in, cuz there was a time when I was getting invites from multiple profiles of quite possibly the hacker that got booted out that one time. -
-
Re: Uh Huh...
Fri, July 25, 2008 - 10:37 AMI got hacked a few months ago. Someone sent out really disgusting porn message to about a zillion people on MySpace. I got back messages like "who are you and why are you sending me this horrible stuff," to "hey baby when can we hook up." I was so grossed out by the *gack* people that replied with "interest" - I immediately deleted my account and will never go there again.
Icky icky icky pleh! -

Re: Uh Huh...
Fri, July 25, 2008 - 11:26 AMIsn't that terrible? I think I know how I got hacked, I musta inadvertently clicked on a phishing page that looked like a legit profile which led me to a phishing log on page which is how their phishbots got my login info.
They didn't do too much damage other than send stupid comments to my Top friends and another stupid bulletin out to everybody. One of my friends from a band in Seattle alerted me and I reset everything so fast...then I started to get these friend invites from blatantly dubious profiles that didn't even bother to put up a Mickey Mouse profile pic!
I think getting hacked is a MySpace rite of passage. I used to see profiles of prominent artists that got hacked. You know when the official Natacha Atlas page sends out nasty bulletins, or some famous musician posts these high school level comments on your page, that they got hacked
Btw, I got logged out of Tribe many, many, many times while trying to post this :/ -

Re: Uh Huh...
Sat, July 26, 2008 - 6:43 AMA friend says that he had tons of trouble getting on Tribe. Then he became a premium member and never has trouble. That's kinda lame. So they only cater to the paying members? -
-
Re: Uh Huh...
Sat, July 26, 2008 - 8:31 AMWell, I can vouch that as a "premium" member, I have just as much trouble getting on Tribe.
I have read where many premium members have actually canceled their membership. I haven't done that quite yet, gonna give them the benefit of the doubt that they're just having a hard time dealing with the database issues (as documented on bugs.tribe.net/ ).
I'm gonna give them the rest of the year to work it out before I make a decision on whether I want to remain a paying member. -
-
I always wondered about that!
Sat, July 26, 2008 - 11:55 AMSo my logic was wrong...
I thought the same thing about paying members... That they would have a speedy connection that is... Wow.
I never considered that of course...I thought it was a bit low class to start free, not improve much, then ask for money...
I suppose that was the last alternative...and it is a community after all... It still rubbed me the wrong way.
I'm considering leaving myself...

Re: Uh Huh...
Mon, July 28, 2008 - 12:24 PMI am one of those who became a Premium member in hopes of helping Tribe out, and then canceled my subscription when I failed to see any improvement over the course of many months. I sent them a letter saying that I will be happy to send my $5 a month when I can see that it is going toward the stability of Tribe. The last straw, for me, was finding game widgets on the "Tribe is down" page. I don't want to pay $5 for someone to program a game on the "site not available" page. I want to pay $5 for them to make the site not go down.
I never got any perks for being a paid member, except for my little star and no ads. It never loaded faster, never seemed more stable, etc.

Re: TRIBE SUCKS!
Sun, July 27, 2008 - 12:19 AMWell, the one guy that's running this whole show is doing a complete rewrite of the site. I think Premium peeps are beta testing it now. But the dude needs help with specific stuff that no one seems to be stepping up to. He's learing as he goes. Gak. I sure hope it all works out! -

Re: Thees are thee daze ov our Tribe
Sun, July 27, 2008 - 8:00 AMSo far, this weekend has been pretty smooth with regard to logging in to Tribe.
Last time I had problems was on Friday trying to post to the discussion.
Logging on to Tribe feels like calling southern Morocco--when there's more telecom traffic on weekdays, it takes forever to get connected! If at first you don't succeed, redial again and again. Or in this case, refresh and relog in :/ -

Re: Thees are thee daze ov our Tribe
Tue, July 29, 2008 - 3:14 AMI've been using a strategy to get to tribes by bypassing the homepage. It seem the homepage is down the most.
I now go straight to tribes (when I can remember the handle). I basically wen to tribes.tribe.net/frederique and got here. I barely even bother going to the homepage anymore, which kinda sucks because that is where I can see if tribes have new posts.
Oh well. As i'm sure many of you have noticed, i'm on trib alot less. I have been spending alot more time on facebook. I hope tribe does get fixed. I'm not gonna bail on it but if it doesn't get fixed soon I think lots of us are gonna be dropping off. -

Re: Thees are thee daze ov our Tribe
Tue, July 29, 2008 - 6:02 AMSo far, a smooth start to the week :)
One of the tricks I do when I can't get to the homepage when I'm obviously already logged in is to click on the teeny tiny main pic in the top right corner and get to my own profile page before clicking on home.
Sometimes work, sometimes not.
