BUSH AND FASCISM WHAT IS IN STORE FOR AMERICA
Here is an article I expounded on about how Bush is setting up a Fascist Government here in America.
I tried to put it on a website I am a member of called Helium.com but it was rejected as a 'promotional' piece.
They didn't say just what they thought I was promoting so I don't really know what they found so objectionable about it. The only thing I was trying to promote was Democracy but surely they didn't have a problem with that.
I have requested that they give me more detail but have not heard anything as of yet.
It is a rather long piece but has links to some interesting articles that not everyone may be aware of. I'm sure none of it is really news to anyone this just puts it all together in one place.

Democracy is dying a slow and insideous death in America today at the hands of President George W. Bush JR. and the Fascist Government that he is creating.
In his original article, "Fascism Anyone?", Laurence Britt compared the regimes of Hitler, Mussolini, Franco, Suharto, and Pinochet and identified 14 characteristics common to those fascist regimes. I have compiled here those fourteen points and their 'American Counterparts' that have been set in place by President Bush and his Regime and allowed by the Congress, the Supreme Court and the apathy of US, THE PEOPLE.
If WE, THE PEOPLE, continue to sit by and allow this to happen than not only will be the victims of a Great American Tragedy but we will be complicit in the Destruction of Democracy in this country and responsible for any and all atrocities committed by the Bush Regime in our name.
I.
POWERFUL AND CONTINUING NATIONALISM
Fascist regimes tend to make constant use of patriotic mottos, slogans, symbols, songs, and other paraphernalia. Flags are seen everywhere, as are flag symbols on clothing and in public displays.

President Bush has glorified war and publically called anyone who speaks out against it un-patriotic and un-american.
The Government has instituted the wearing of uniforms in Schools. Patriotic symbols are worn publically by polititians and 'patriotic citizens'.
When Bush was selling the Iraq war to the people he pushed patriotic slogans and wore 'his' 'uniform' to announce on board an aircraft carrier that we had 'won' the war with Iraq.
He even took the tragedy of 9/11 and steeped it in military propaganda so that there could be no condemning the government without making it look like we were condemning the Military as well.
You will rarely see Bush and the Political Parties in public without being surrounded by all the Generals and the 'Rank and File' soldiers so that we will get used to the idea that the Civilian and the Military Government are one and the same.
II.
DISDAIN FOR THE RECOGNITION OF HUMAN RIGHTS
Because of fear of enemies and the need for security, the people in fascist regimes are persuaded that human rights can be ignored in certain cases because of "need." The people tend to look the other way or even approve of torture, summary executions, assassinations, long incarcerations of prisoners, etc.

President Bush has made it clear by pubically announcing that 'Terrorists' and 'Enemy Combatants' are not deserving of the most basic protections of Human Rights. He has stated that they are not protected by the Geneva Conventions and that it is allowable to utilize Torture when questioning or interrogating them. He has repealed habeas corpus and itsprotections. He has turned Guantanamo into a de facto Concentration Camp to house anyone that disagrees with him or his Regime, and that is just the one we know about. There are no telling how many more are set up on anonymous military bases throughout the United States and American Territories.
He has utilized Fear to control the American People to ensure that we do not pubically challenge him or his coercive actions.
President Bush had some good teachers in how to embrace Nazism and Fascism by his interactions with his grandfather Prescott Bush who was a supporter and financier of the NAZI Party during the 1920's thru 1940's.

Of course the Government kept the Bush Familys' NAZI connections secret during the 50's because Hoover felt it would instill a distrust in the government if it became public knowledge that Prescott, by then a U.S. Senator was a NAZI Sympathizer.

IDENTIFICATION OF ENEMIES/SCAPEGOATS AS A UNIFYING CAUSE
The people are rallied into a unifying patriotic frenzy over the need to eliminate a perceived common threat or foe: racial, ethnic or religious minorities; liberals; communists; socialists, terrorists, etc.

Everytime that there is any outcry or questions by the public Bush and his Gestapo like Homeland Security announces another 'Terror Alert'. This has become so common place that people don't even pay any attention to them anymore.
He has turned the American People against Muslims and other Middle Eastern citizens as well as Mexicans and just about any race that is not considered to be 'American'.
Anyone who dares to pubically speak out about this atrocity is suggested for internment in the 'Camps' by conservative pundits and talk show hosts such as the likes of Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter and Bill O'Reilly.
IV.
SUPREMACY OF THE MILITARY
Even when there are widespread domestic problems, the military is given a disproportionate amount of government funding, and the domestic agenda is neglected. Soldiers and military service are glamorized.

The military budget is the biggest that it has ever been in American history and bush constantly tells us just how much we need the Military to 'protect' us from all of the 'terrorists' and 'enemies' that we have in the world.
And all this has come at the cost of major domestic Programs such as Health Care, Social Security and Education.

RAMPANT SEXISM
The governments of fascist nations tend to be almost exclusively male-dominated. Under fascist regimes, traditional gender roles are made more rigid. Opposition to abortion is high, as is homophobia and anti-gay legislation and national policy.

One of the most arbitary acts of Sexism is making Abortion illegal again and condemning Homosexuals.
the Conservastive Talk Show Hosts are once again spouting about how the only real place for the woman is in the home 'barefoot and pregnant'.
Marridge is touted as the 'proper' thing to do and being single is frowned upon and made to look somehow unsavory.

CONTROLLED MASS MEDIA
Sometimes the media is directly controlled by the government, but in other cases, the media is indirectly controlled by government regulation, or sympathetic media spokespeople and executives. Censorship, especially in war time, is very common.

The bush Adminstration has long since taken control of Mass Media and has its own 'Government Television Station'. It is known as FOX TV and is considered to be overwelmingly propaganda programing by legitimately recognized news programs and political sites both inside and outside the United States.

The Government has such complete control of the Media in all its forms that it doesn't have to worry anytime it becomes 'public' knowledge about what is going on as the Mass Media simply refuses to report on it and as far as the American People are concerned 'If it's not in the paper, it didn't happen'.

OBSESSION WITH NATIONAL SECURITY
Fear is used as a motivational tool by the government over the masses
In the biginning there was hardly a day that would pass when Bush wasn't touting the 'National Security' issue and now
everytime he wants to curtail another one of our basic Civil or Constitutional Rights he says it is in the interests of 'National Security.

To hear Bush tell it, if we do not have a governmental 'eye' watching our every move we are jepardizing National Security.
Even as he implements his Internal Passport System under the name of the 'Real ID Act' he says it is for the good of National Security.
People don't seem to realize that under the Mandate of the Department of Homeland Security, American Citizens will not be able to travel anywhere in the country from the time they leave their front door until they return without having a National Identification Card. It won't be that much longer before you will have to have one to work or buy food or rent a home and what happens if you piss off some government agent and they suspend your card? Try to get along without one. You will find that there is not anything that you can do or buy without presenting that almighty ID card first..
Just like in the NAZI Party. The Government doesn't require you to get one or carry it with you you just will not be able to function without it. After the Real ID Act goes into affect, try to board a plane or train or bus or try to rent a vehicle or get caught driving down your neighborhood street without it and see what happens since it replaces the Drivers License that your state now issues.
VIII.
RELIGION AND GOVERNMENT ARE INTERTWINED
Governments in fascist nations tend to use the most common religion in the nation as a tool to manipulate public opinion. Religious rhetoric and terminology is common from government leaders, even when the major tenets of the religion are diametrically opposed to the government's policies or actions.

There is no bigger advocate of President Bush and his Regime than the Religious Right such as Jerry Falwell, then The focus On Family Organization and their ilk.
Just let it be known that you are not a W.A.S.P. and see how all of a sudden people don't want to associate with you or be seen publically endorsing you.
Bush would have you believe that the majority of Americans are of this type but I think they are the vast minority it's just that since Bush controls the Media and other Public communications outlets he can make you think there are as many or as few as he wants you to think.
After all. Bush made it abundantly and publically clear that 'God" told him to attack IRAQ and stir up trouble in the rest of the Middle East.
IX.
CORPORATE POWER IS PROTECTED
The industrial and business aristocracy of a fascist nation often are the ones who put the government leaders into power, creating a mutually beneficial business/government relationship and power elite.

Bush ahs copiously utilized corporations to help him do what he wants to do and woe be it to anyone congress, courts or the people that speak out against it.
We even have twice as many private security forces in Iraq than we do Military and the Military must take orders from the private sector not the other way around.
We all remember, of course, that he used the private communications corporations to spy on americans and is now protecting them from court or congressional oversite.

LABOR POWER IS SUPPRESSED
Because the organizing power of labor is the only real threat to a fascist government, labor unions are either eliminated entirely, or are severely suppressed.

Bush has already threatened to veto any bill that protects Unions in the government or private sector and has the Congress so cowed that they will give him exactly what he asks for.

DISDAIN FOR INTELLECTUALS AND THE ARTS
Fascist nations tend to promote and tolerate open hostility to higher education, and academia. It is not uncommon for professors and other academics to be censored or even arrested. Free expression in the arts is openly attacked, and governments often refuse to fund the arts.

The Government has already attempted to rewrite Science and History and if the Arts are not the type that bush and the Right Wing endorses than you can forget about it being around much longer since the Government controls most of the funding.
XII.
OBSESSION WITH CRIME AND PUNISHMENT
Under fascist regimes, the police are given almost limitless power to enforce laws. The people are often willing to overlook police abuses and even forego civil liberties in the name of patriotism. There is often a national police force with virtually unlimited power in fascist nations

The United States already incarcerates more of its citizens than any other country in the world and that was before bush took control.
Now Crime and punishment is at the top of the list of government mandates to better 'protect' the people and just in case the government should 'accidentally' arrest someone and lock them up, it is immune from prosecution in most cases and if there is any doubt about it than Bush just simply says it is in the interests of National Security and the Courts will refuse to allow it to go to trial.
The 'No-Fly' List has been used to keep people off of flights that criticize the government and even outspoken Congress persons have been refused flights if they dare to publically speak out against Bush or his Administration.
XIII.
RAMPANT CRONYISM AND CORRUPTION
Fascist regimes almost always are governed by groups of friends and associates who appoint each other to government positions and use governmental power and authority to protect their friends from accountability. It is not uncommon in fascist regimes for national resources and even treasures to be appropriated or even outright stolen by government leaders.

This is so obvious it would be laughable if it wern't so serious. Members of the Bush Administration are being found out to be crooks and if by some miracle they are actually charged with a crime why Bush just simply pardens them.
Even Democratic Speaker Of The House Nancy Polosi refuses to bring charges against Bush and/or his Administration which just goes to show how powerful bush really is.
XIV.
FRAUDULENT ELECTIONS
Sometimes elections in fascist nations are a complete sham. Other times elections are manipulated by smear campaigns against or even assassination of opposition candidates, use of legislation to control voting numbers or political district boundaries, and manipulation of the media. Fascist nations also typically use their judiciaries to manipulate or control elections.

I don't think anyone anymore realistically believes that our elections for the past 7 years have been fair and honest what with the 'lost' ballots, 'broken' voting machines, 'disqualified' voters and all of the many many other means that bush has at his disposal to ensure that only the ones HE wants to win will win.
We have a lot to worry about in the next couple of years and if the above doesn't scare you than jusat look into how easy Bush has made it to declare Martial Law. We may not be rid of him at all in 2008.
Just remember the old saying by Reverend Martin Niemoeller before the NAZI Party took over Germany and don't forget that those that refuse to remember history are doomed to repeat it.
In Germany, the Nazis first came for the communists, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a communist. Then they came for the Jews, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew. In Germany, the Nazis first came for the communists, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a communist. Then they came for the Jews, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist. Then they came for the Catholics, but I didn't speak up because I was a protestant. Then they came for me, and by that time there was no one left to speak for me.
