Saturday March 10th will kick off the Leon and Mary Fields Foundation’s “Do Something Saturday Celebration Weekend. On Saturday March 10th we will be meeting in the parking lot of Santa Monica Beach just south of Ocean Park Boulevard. This is the same place we always meet. The following items are needed for our outreach to people living without a current residence.

Warm Beanies
Warm Gloves
Warm jackets/coats
Underwear (unopened)
Bras (unused)
Socks (unused)
Shoes in good condition
Raincoats
Deodorant
Tooth brushes (CLOSED)
Tooth paste
Mouth wash (small travel size)
Soap
Face towels
Back packs (Downtown LA has the best deals)
Sleeping bags
Warm blankets
Bag lunches
Snacks
Bottled WATER

Please meet in the parking lot no later then 10AM so we can be ready to leave by 11AM. If you are bringing items please make sure you are on time. If you would like to drop off your items before hand, please send me an email and I will let you know where you can drop off your items.

COLD WEATHER SHELTERS ARE CLOSING ON THE 15th OF MARCH

Sunday is the CELEBRATION FREE HUGS PIC NIC. This will take place in the park that is just north of the parking lot where we meet for DO SOMETHING SATURDAY.

The PIC NIC is a pot luck. Please cook something or pick it up from a store, Jack in the Box, Deli, Kentucky Fried or where ever. For all you chefs out there I am hoping that you will show up and show up. This is the last weekend people will be able to stay at cold weather shelters; they will be closed on the 15th. MEANING people will have no place to turn, no place to sleep at night. I would like at the very least for them to have a great fun filled weekend.

Please get on the horn now and tell your friends, family, co-worker and people in your TRIBES. Please get behind this HUGE effort to let people living without current residences know you support them. This will mark my final stretch before I return home to rest up and regroup. PLEASE EVERYONE lets make this a great weekend. Please support both days in a HUGE WAY. Treat the entire weekend like BURNING MAN and do your part to make it HUGE for these folks.

I know we will not be able to have load music, but I know there are some dance troops out there and I would like to see you guys perform. All my FREE HUGS peeps will be in the house as well. I am inviting people from all the local papers to come out and next week I will be making a hard push to get this event aired on local radio stations.
