please dispell any ignorance

I or anyone in another tribe's thread may have, and then give us all a virtual hug

In the heated debate tribe I and a tribe of mostly Americans have been discussing proposed changes to our health care system. Some of us would prefer a European or Canadian model of giving medical care, others of us fear a system like that as a total disaster.

My hope is that some of the people in this tribe are familiar with the system in Europe, and will join the discussion in this tribe and add real life experiences. I am willing to change my opinions more on the word of a European's or Canadian's experience with their system of health care than to listen to pundits on both sides of the issue here idealize the socialized medicine in these places or make them out to seem like monstrosities.

Please share your experiences, and thank you.

I think free-huggers and heated-debaters are different enough creatures that you won't get much response here. My own personal experience with our health care system is pretty limited, but I just came across this story about an American's experiences with the British system that might help you.

I don't know if there is a contradiction between free-hugging and heated debating from where I stand, roughly half the family I've known was Sicilian and heated debating among relatives mixed with hugging and kissing. The common thread, being a person with a passion for life in all it's many flavors :).

I'd think it would be less likely you'd find a cold calculating impersonal and academic debater giving anyone hugs over a heated debater :)

Anyway LoLa, thank you, the article is interesting, I will post the link you found in that tribe and encourage them to read the letters in response to the article as well :)

PS. This was the largest Canadian tribe I could find, so even if it didn't seem relevant to the purpose of the tribe I asked the question hoping I could have the largest pool of people who could answer it.
