What's wifi Service like in your area?

I live in Santa Monica. The city has plans to make the entire city wifi friendly, but they are having major problems with the places they already have in place. The main problem is that it just doesnt work. another problem is that "City WI-Fi" is split up. The libray, 3rd street and then the city. DUMB

Santa Monic has this new push on how they do things right, but they cant even get a Wi-FI service that works.

What's Wi-Fi in your area and is it free? Santa Monica is planning to offer two types of city Wi-Fi. Free and Fee based. Just another example of how Santa Monica "does it wrong"

    When I am in New York I love the free Wifi spots I am able to get. I also love the fact that I can be outdoors. Now that I live here in Santa Monica I am a little let down in the fact that Santa Monica has really done a poor job with the wireless network.

    However along the beach yesturday I was able to get a very clear signal from an open network. City WiFi was listed but I could never get it to work.
