I just placed a 76mm 76A inline wheel on each of the Freeline skates. I skate Goofy with right foot forward so I placed these wheels on the right hand side of each skate (not sure if that will make a difference) and went out to test these out. It was a smoooooooth ride.
Being a beginner, I was having a little difficulty on flats but the thin wheel actually made it easier to twist my feet and my turns were sharp and fast. So people, try it out if you're having problem on flats. For you more experienced FLers, I think the thin wheel will help with speed. Let me know. I also experienced less interference with twigs and other cracks on the streets where I'm at. The thin wheel also exposes more of the plate for grinding (I'm not there yet but FS look like grind plates with wheels so it will be a matter of time).
I will post the pics in the album.
In the ZEN ZONE,
Stan

Tue, September 26, 2006 - 11:42 PMThanks Ms Fine.
Where are all the Flers? I posted the same thing in the FL UK forum too. Anyways, planning on hitting some small hills in Central Park (I emphasize "Small" hills) this weekend and some flats along Park Avenue by my job tomorrow night after work (nice and smooth there), Just have to avoid the Security guards at these buildings. Gotta get the FL movement flowing in NYC.
Always in the Zen ZONe

Mon, October 2, 2006 - 9:56 PMHey Bud,
With Freelines, you're a Newbie for at least a year man!
Its all good.
Pick a place and time. Daren, if you see this, give your input. I suggest Central Park South, like 59 St, near columbus circle. Nice small hills, smooth pavement.
How's Friday for everyone? -

Re: Freeline skates new wheel configuration [Good for the Newbies like myself]
Sun, October 15, 2006 - 11:46 PMthat bike path is beautiful for FLing, but the bikers are real jerkoffs when it comes to someone glidin along on what seems to be a jerky path cuz of the 2 piece design and waving movement. that's a hell of a ride man, one i hope to be able to make myself by the end of my first year owning these -

This is the maximum depth. Additional responses will not be threaded.
Re: Freeline skates new wheel configuration [Good for the Newbies like myself]
Mon, October 16, 2006 - 10:41 AMi agree totally with u about the bikers, 4 the most part they're in awe of the FL's but u get enough of them moaning and groaning full of self entitlement 2 generalize them as jerk offs.
i also agree that it's a nice ride, very picturesque.
Rymel, I've only been FLing 4 just under 3 months give or take, I'm positive u'll be able 2 skate the path way b4 a years time.
I'm hoping 2 skate the path this wk, most likely weds., PM me if ur down.
I'm in agreement as well with the comment about being a newbie 4 a yr, I'm pretty graceful on my FLs and i can reach some serious speed, however my stomps r still a Lil green, and i can't ride switch 2 save my life (i ride goofy) so there's still a lot more learning 2 be done :)
gotta luv it -

Re: Freeline skates new wheel configuration [Good for the Newbies like myself]
Tue, October 17, 2006 - 6:48 PMyou're right about the awe part. i've seen people stop walking just to get a better look at what the hell i'm doing...it's usually a good reaction though.
only 3 months and you're that good? that's insane, i hope to be up there with you soon. i'd love to join you wednesday...if it wasn't raining. it's gonna be an interesting winter freelining in full warmth gear.
when you were learning stomps...were you afraid of spraining or injuring an ankle or is that not really an issue? -

Hey guys
Tue, October 17, 2006 - 10:52 PMI've been having problems posting last few day. I could log in, read the posts but couldn't post anything without hang up my computer. Anyways, Its good to see some dialogue going. Will be working 12 hours shifts all week long. Been bustin out my Trikke and having a really good time with it. Rymel, I think you would really like the Trikke for getting to work. You gotta check it out. As the weather gets colder, I will probably Trikke more than Freeline. Will wait and see what Fall/Winter brings us this year. I was on my Freelines this past weekend and I really had an off day. Felt really awkward again as if I just took them out of the box. Don't know what happened there. Anyways, keep me posted for any meetups. -

Re: Freeline skates new wheel configuration [Good for the Newbies like myself]
Wed, October 18, 2006 - 9:30 AMi usually have my skates with me all the time, never know when u'll find a sweet hill :)
rain was in the 4cast 4 2day, but the sun is strong arming the clouds so there's hope.
as far as learning stomps i wasn't afraid of injuring my ankle, i just couldn't get the left skate down (i lead with my right).
i would throw the right 1 down no problem, but the left was difficult.
then i discovered what i was doing wrong.
i simply had 2 throw the right skate with my left hand, and vice versa, that moved my left skate stomps from 0% 2 a 90% success rate. sometimes the simplest things can make a world of difference.
I'm still a looooong ways from doing double stomps, or maybe it's just a matter of believing that it isn't impossible ;).
but 2 answer ur question about injury, nope I've never came close 2 hurting myself doing "1 at a time" stomps, either my foot would hit the skate right, or it wont. -

Re: Freeline skates new wheel configuration [Good for the Newbies like myself]
Wed, October 18, 2006 - 2:54 PMhm, you'll have to showe me, i think i confused myself reading that. and you're right, the weather's insanely beautiful, so different from yesterday...where i worked in the rain for 11 hours. i also usually have them with me too, i tie them up plates together with shoelaces and carry them around...people wonder what the hell they are. but enough of that. seeing as the weather's beautiful out, i'm gonna change out of my work clothes and head over to the staten island mall's parking lot and practice a bit...don't know what the next few days will bring and i haven't freelined in a few days so i GOTTA :D
