Hopefully the word phallic is not in the tribe censor's vocabulary LOL!

Yes, I have seen larger ones on other representations of Freyr too.

Oh, definitely! And he's big too!

Like HUGE. Like the old statues of Herne/Cernunnos. In fact, it may very well be that they're the same god, with different faces.

I just love a guy with... character. Don't you? *snickers*

Some have linked Herne with Odin/Woden because of the Wild Hunt.

I see Cernunnos more in his Underworld role, though he is also associated with wealth and fertility. Like Freyr, not too much is known about him. The Romans regarded him as either Dis Pater (Hades/Pluto) or a chthonic form of Jupiter (Zeus). As you know, Freyr is also associated with burial mounds.

Is there an image of Ing/Frey who wears deer antlers? I think I remember seeing this before...

          On Herne/Cernunnos and Odin/Woden, again.

Isn't Herne a specifically British deity? On that basis isn't it likely that his naming came about following the Vikings' settlement in Britain, when the similarities between the Celtic Cernunnos and the Norse Odin/Woden were acknowledged and reconciled? Which is not to say that Herne is the same as the other two, but perhaps an aspect of both of them...

I've only seen pictures of one statue of Freyr, I think it was found at Uppsala. I understood that it was the only statue of him to be found (so far). I would love to see more images of Freyr, including any pics of other statues than the one pictured in the photo album.

Well... One would expect that from a god of cattle and fertility. Besides would you respect him if he were hung like a mouse?
