Is it Burning Man? Shambhala? Love Parade? Rainbow Gathering? EarthDance? And is it one that is still happenin' or can you tell us of sum good ones that only remain in memory?

Fri, February 9, 2007 - 11:33 PMdefinitely only in memory: "day in the dirt" - the NOT SO QUIET ON THE EASTERN FRONT punk rock festival at berkeley's Aquatic Park, which happened a couple of years in a row during the early 80's. mixed in with what seemed like ten thousand hardcore bands were a few famous acts, among them the Slits. the Slits on stage prefigured the whole B.M./Tribe/Mondo 2000 style by about 20 years - dreadlocks, breasts, body paint, wild dancing, crude dub basslines, etc.

Sun, July 8, 2007 - 5:01 PMOhhhhh man, I'd have to say LumensGate! Deep & intense transformation and community. Face-your-issues type of festival! Ritual designed to push your buttons! Okay, I like that kind of stuff.
Also SPiRaL in Georgia (is that still going on?), and the one Georgia Boogie that I went to but was so sick! But had a great time anyway! And every festival that I worked on with the Cincinnati community during the 90s.

Sat, January 26, 2008 - 11:57 PMWell, I've been to Wakarusa every year (four whole years....), and I keep going back for some reason........Maybe it's the crazy Kansas weather.
And the Euphio Festival at Camp Zoe in Missouri (which has de-evolved into something else) was a great time. A band getting all their band friends and friend bands to come camp for five days..........beautiful! And the landscape didn't hurt either, even if it was haunted..............
