Top 20 Most Toxic Foods

I'm reading a book right now called “Diet for a Poisoned Planet” by David Steinman. He lists a bunch of foods and categorizes them in a color coded way… green is the safest… food you can enjoy most of the time and is relatively clean, yellow is food that's ok some of the time and red is the most toxic food you should avoid most of the time (all of the time if you are serious!) The testing is done with conventional food.

One general rule about poisons in our food: Toxins accumulate up the food chain. They also tend to be found in higher doses in food with lots of fat. Makes sense, since toxins are sequestered in fat. Therefore, meat and dairy that is highest in fat is most dangerous.

Top 20 Toxic foods:

(these are not in order from most toxic… these are just foods that we should most avoid since they are in the red category- meaning they contain a high amount of industrial chemical and pesticide residues and/or they contain the most toxic, carcinogenic or poisonous types of these chemicals) :

Bacon, Hot dogs, Ground beef , Veal, Raisins, Peanuts, Frozen Pizza, Frozen French Fries, Fresh water fish (especially from the Great Lakes), Whole Milk, ICe Cream, Cheese, Butter, Processed Cheese, Chocolate Cake, Milk Chocolate, Dill Pickles, Peanut Butter, Potato chips, whiskey.

If you are going to partake in such foods…. make sure they are ORGANIC. There were no vegetables or grains listed in the red category (that should give you a hint about the benefits of eating vegan foods regularly instead of processed food, meat and dairy which are most toxic.)

I included whiskey in the list because… even though Steinman didn't want to break down different alcohols into a red, yellow, green category ( he didn't want to promote any alcohol as safe)… Whiskey, along with many different liquers and wines were shown as very, very toxic!

If you want to know more info…. get this book. “Diet for a Poisoned Planet” by David Steinmen. It's a must have for everyone who wants to prevent disease and live a good, healthy life. Not only will you be better equipped to avoid toxins… by avoiding them you will be sending a message, as consumers, that you don't want toxins in your food… or your environment!

It is our responsibility to protect ourselves and our families from toxic chemicals… THe Government won't do it!!! For some reason, our government just can't prioritize when it comes to choosing between losing money or the greater health of our people… even when the long term costs are greater and the short term savings are small in conparison to the bigger problems that lie ahead.

Hope you all find this interesting,

Strange...how is red most toxic? Chicken is not red, but tomatoes are. (Full disclosure: I don;t eat chicken, but I do eat tomatoes.)

    Are you a vegetarian, Sierra?

As an aside, is Steinman a vegetarian?

Does he include a comparison between organic and conventional foods? Or maybe between raw and cooked within each category?

Oh.. hehe... lol. Red is just referring to a category... you know the "red zone" is the category of most toxic foods, stuff you want to totally avoid. The "yellow zone" is stuff you can have occasionally, and the "green zone" is generally safe.

Thanks for asking! Sorry I didn't make that too clear.

Steinman is not a veg, but he does believe that a general rule of thumb in choosing less toxic foods is to stay lower on the food chain and pick meats with lower fat content. The logic is pretty easy. Toxins are sequestered in fat, so if you do eat meat, get the leanest cuts.

I am like 95% vegetarian. I don't do much dairy... and if I do it's organic. I eat eggs and on a rare occasion, chicken and fish. I eat alot of vegetable stews, brown rice, kale, raw salads, polenta, quinoa... stuff like that.

Ahhhh....I thought he meant "green" as in green leafy veggies.

I'll have to check out his book, though personally, I embrace a raw food diet.

That's great you are a raw foodist. How long?

Are you familiar with Gabrielle Cousins? He wrote "conscious eating." He's a doctor that advocates a raw foods diet. He also has a retreat where people can be guided to cleanse and eat raw foods.

Well he did a whole study with liquid zeolites. I'll try to find it so you can listen to it. He talks about it on his radio show. His study proved that even strict organic raw foodists were tested with high levels of toxins and heavy metals in their blood stream. So even the healthiest people in the world need to cleanse. For a week, these raw foodists that came to his retreat and were tested, took the detox dose of Liquid Zeolites, and were tested again. 90% of the toxins were gone. That is pretty amazing.

I am getting my "Znatural" this week. "Znatural" is the purest brand of Liquid Zeolites I have found. Be careful about other brands because you can easily get contaminated Zeolite since it is not easy to clean. If you want to try it out for yourself, you can go to this website www.trilogyrx.com/100369
I would recommend becoming a member since it is free right now. Then you can get the products wholesale. That's what I did... and I'm telling everyone I know about it. So please don't mind me. I'm not trying to sell you something as much as I am trying to spread awareness about this amazing gift of nature that can help anyone (even pregnant mamas and infants) cleanse safely and easily. We all need to cleanse!

If you want to learn more, there is a great website, not selling anything or affiliated with a company, just very informative about Liquid Zeolites :

Yep, I've heard of Cousins. Haven;t read much of his work, though. I think he's raw vegan.

I was quasi-raw for years (roughly 1991) but intentionally upped my percentage to at least 80+% (by calorie) several years ago & stopped eating certain foods altogether. I'm mostly raw, but not Spartan about it. I occasionally munch some organic blue corn chips or have a portobello "burger". No breads or dairy or anything like that - just fruits, veggies, sashimi.....

            Thanx for the info.
