What's tha haps kids? Shambala remains one of those events that more people around me are recognizing as fucking awesome and that I pair in my mind with the Nelson grope so I thought I'd just share this bit of interconnectivity with you.

I had a rough period a few years ago and needed to get outta town. Hopefully to get laid but that sort of thing never works out...for me. No matter, I met a similarly tight bunch of folks from San Diego and decided to spend the weekend with them at their gathering which was half burnery and half "thinginthewoods-y." The people were 1800% more awesome than they were online and I consider them great friends. I've since made it my goal to get more crossover between regional events.

Anyhoe, I stalked my current fiance into a relationship and this year we went down to visit said Diegans for another one of their festivals. Had a great time, met even more hot, present and fun people and got on so well that I'll end my sentence here. I asked everyone to uproot themselves from their comfortable California sun and party with me up in the northwest where we do things the same but different. On Sunday morning after the drugs wore off and I could talk with more effiency I met a pretty, sweet looking slightly goth-pirate looking hottie with the most awesome cut of leather jacket on and an impish grin. It was fun meeting people and explaining that we'd just "popped over" for the weekend to enjoy their party and presence.

The point, and believe me I'll find one if it kills you, is that when we shared that we were from Seattle she was surprised. I said, you should come up some time. She said she was coming up in August. !!! What the hell for?! Shambala. Oh my. How very nice (envy). Well that's fucking cool, good onya then, I've got some great friends who won't shut up about that hippierave so I'm sure you'll have a knockout blammo good time. (fuck the quotation marks and proper spacing)

SO anyway, that's my Shambala 2008 story. I went to San Diego which must easily be 2000+ miles away from the Shamblah site and met someone else who was going and I wasn't. Maybe two years from this year.

Fitting that this inconnectivity story was brought to you by the "fiends with you" tribe. I hope you met our new friend.

Hey there!

my lover and i are moving back to canada, me after years away, her for the first time.

we haven't decided where we're gonna settle so we wanted to hear from folks about nice places to be.

she is allergic to fragrances and other chemicals and unfortunately, pot. she also has some repetitive stress issues.

i clean houses for work and she nannies for newborns and nightnannies for twins. she's also a professional personal organizer and assistant. i'm good at a bunch of things.

we're both big homebodies, but like to go out and have fun a few times a month and also see friends a bunch, her at home, me at home and in cafes and whatnot.

we both like walking alot and don't really like cars so much. neither of us can drive.

she wants to find out if she can really write a novel and wants to spend alot of time writing. i like to make art alot. someplace that had classes or places to creatively share or explore would be great. i would like a separate studio (it can be small) where i can make art cause she is allergic to the chemicals.

you guys seem to love Nelson. what do you love about it? what makes it a great place to live?

as most of you know, my best friend was robbed in Bali. well, now she's gotten sick. she was in the hospital today and the doctor says it'll probably be about 6 weeks before she can travel home. there are some details i don't really want to disclose, but let me tell you - this is any traveller's worst nightmare.

and i want to pull my hair out.
i want to scream.
i want to run out into the street and tell the universe to go fuck itself.

I know many of you are used to cold weather, but here in SoCal, it's a rarity. Can you belive that it snowed in Malibu and other areas yesterday? That's just plain crazy. In all my years out here, it's snowed here three or four times by my count. I didn't seen any snow in my part of Santa Monica. :-( I'll have to drive up to the mountains for that.

Please PLEASE help if you can. One of own is in trouble.....As some of you know, Autumn had taken off to Bali to follow her dreams of designing & selling her own clothing. On her second night in Bali, someone slipped something into her WATER & she was robbed and we fear she was violated as well. She lost over $2000. She is now broke in a foreign country & her return flight is 3 months away.

I just got off the phone with Jenna and we will be having a benefit for her at the Royal on Saturday February 3rd. If any musician would like to volunteer to play that night, I would REALLY appreciate it...I am on the hunt for a line up....
