Aardvark Hunt

Sooo...two Lilies ago, I was hanging out with Lucian and we were wondering what to do when I spontaneously said "Aardvark...let's hunt for an aardvark. You see, the theory is that if you wander around hunting aardvark, you're bound to find something interesting! Since then, it's been the catch phrase for whenever we're bored and want to wander.

Well....last weekend, I finally found one. As I sat with the drummers at a court, I was serves this delicious drink in these cute little paper cups with animals on them. I got a Hippo, but the guy next to me got an Aardvark! Of course I had to take it! Lucian was there too, so I showed him, and our year and a half long quest for an Aardvark came to an end.

Next...we hunt Baboons. Before I die I hope to make it through the whole alphabet!

The old advertising slogan "Guinness is Good for You" may be true after all, according to researchers.
A pint of the black stuff a day may work as well as an aspirin to prevent heart clots that raise the risk of heart attacks.

Drinking lager does not yield the same benefits, experts from University of Wisconsin told a conference in the US.

Guinness were told to stop using the slogan decades ago - and the firm still makes no health claims for the drink.

The Wisconsin team tested the health-giving properties of stout against lager by giving it to dogs who had narrowed arteries similar to those in heart disease.

They found that those given the Guinness had reduced clotting activity in their blood, but not those given lager.

Clotting is important for patients who are at risk of a heart attack because they have hardened arteries.

A heart attack is triggered when a clot lodges in one of these arteries supplying the heart.

Many patients are prescribed low-dose aspirin as this cuts the ability of the blood to form these dangerous clots.

The researchers told a meeting of the American Heart Association in Orlando, Florida, that the most benefit they saw was from 24 fluid ounces of Guinness - just over a pint - taken at mealtimes.

They believe that "antioxidant compounds" in the Guinness, similar to those found in certain fruits and vegetables, are responsible for the health benefits because they slow down the deposit of harmful cholesterol on the artery walls.

However, Diageo, the company that now manufactures Guinness, said: "We never make any medical claims for our drinks."

The company now runs advertisements that call for "responsible drinking".

A spokesman for Brewing Research International, which conducts research for the industry, said she would be "wary" of placing the health benefits of any alcohol brand above another.

She said: "We already know that most of the clotting effects are due to the alcohol itself, rather than any other ingredients.

"It is possible that there is an extra effect due to the antioxidants in Guinness - but I would like to see this research repeated."

She said that reviving the old adverts for Guinness might be problematic - at least in the EU.

Draft legislation could outlaw any health claims in adverts for alcohol in Europe, she said.

The original campaign in the 1920s stemmed from market research - when people told the company that they felt good after their pint, the slogan was born.

In England, post-operative patients used to be given Guinness, as were blood donors, because of its high iron content.

Pregnant women and nursing mothers were at one stage advised to drink Guinness - the present advice is against this.

The UK is still the largest market in the world for Guinness, although the drink does not feature in the UK's top ten beer brands according to the latest research.

so last night i dreamnt dreamed that i had these two clear tubes coming out of somewhere and going into somewhere on each side of my body. one had pee going out so i guess really we know where that one was connected and the other was a clear liquid. then there was an incident and one of the clear tubes had blood in it and the other clear one had an orange powdered substance. i freaked and went to the doctor and he said no big deal and i carried on cause i still had a few days left to wear my tubes. i was real real careful though because i didn't want that to happen again so i checked my tubes constantly. the time came for them to be removed, but i just kept forgetting to go to the doctor. then i was touring this graveyard out in the country in europe and it was cool cause the tombstones were really really old. like people that lived in the 1400s. then i found this book at this little book shop there and it was the history of my grandparents love life and that was cool so i bought it and i woke up somewhat inspired to interview my grandma. but while i was reading my grandparent's memoir i suddenly had to poo real bad. i had to hurry, but also had to use extreme caution because i didn't want to mess up my tubes. so i was moving fast over these hills and made it to the bathroom, but there were all these clothes on the ground that i decided needed to be destroyed because they were evidence. so i started to flush them down the toilet, but it got stopped up because lets face it the toilets in europe would never be able to handle sweatshirts and stuff like that. so i'm searching for a plunger, but people are knocking on the door and the lock wasn't real good so i was working on the lock a little bit so they couldn't barge in on me and see me flushing the clothes. then i was like holy moly i have to poo so i decided to do that and pulled down my pants and realized that i had already pooed my pants. great. now i have to flush my clothes too cause they're all dirty. and phew it was a LOT and it looked like ground round which was strange, but i guess that had to do w/ my condition...you know the one that caused me to have to wear these tubes. i think this dream definitely means something don't y'all?
