Re: DHEA
Sat, October 27, 2007 - 12:16 PMHello there, Larkin,
Just out of curiosity, what is DHEA? in plain english?
Thanks,
Sebastian -

Re: DHEA
Sun, October 28, 2007 - 2:50 AMit's a hormone produced in the adrenal glands. the name is really long and DHEA is a way easier abbreviation than the name itself.
it is a precursor hormone to testosterone and estrogen, but moreso testosterone as i understand. -

Re: DHEA
Sun, October 28, 2007 - 3:49 AMThanks buddy, that helps simplfy things. The only thing that I can suggest that you do is to do some research using the acronym that you have used. That's a serious medical thing.
Otherwise, I couldn't give you any thoughts about that.
Peace,
Sebastian -

Re: DHEA
Sun, October 28, 2007 - 4:36 PMhey, thanks sebastian =)
yeah it is kinda serious hey.... that's why i'm totally doing research and watching my body closely.
thanks for your concern and for your advice.
i read on this tribe that some guys when they are prescribed T by the doctor are prescribed a combination of DHEA and T, in the
gel compound one guy was saying. curious about that.

Re: DHEA
Sun, October 28, 2007 - 10:16 PMtruthfuly man this stuff wont do anything but screwup your thyroid and make you skin super oily. yes it does supress your estrogen some but you will see no effects for transition. if you are taking testosteron it may or may not benefit you, i would cross reference that but it alone is useless...trsu me i tried lol -

Mon, October 29, 2007 - 10:54 PMhey anthony,
thanks for the info dude.
what do you know about what it does to your thyroid? that sounds scary.
yeah i have not taken much of it but i have noticed my skin being oilier. my voice is actually a bit deeper too.
thanks for your input

Re: DHEA
Tue, October 30, 2007 - 1:18 AMthe voice depening is so very unlikely that it would lead me to believe its incidental or something else involved. not trying to burst your buble but being honest. the thyroid effects are hit or miss. some people it does some it does not. it increases the likelyhood of hypo thyroidism, which is where your thyroid is under prductive, in some. like i said its hit or miss. the oily skin is truly text book side effect from DHEA. honestly guys realy forget this herbal stuff, go with what works. the negative sides are some much lower than fucking around with all these herbal tricks of the trade. i know "T" is an arduous process but there is no back door way or quick fix for this. trust me i tried them all lol -

Re: DHEA
Tue, October 30, 2007 - 4:49 AMThanks Tony,
I've never been one to experiment with my body's chemistry. I have too many health issues to be fucking around with shit that just might end up making my body's chemistry go hay wire.
Thanks.

Re: DHEA
Tue, October 30, 2007 - 3:36 PMhey anthony thanks so much for all your feedback.
yeah after you said about the thyroid thing yesterday i did some more research on that topic and on hyperthyroidism and i decided to stop the DHEA, it's not worth it there are too many potential risks and yeah like sebastian is saying fucking around with your body's chemistry is kinda sketch. i haven't been taking DHEA for long but it's pretty powerful stuff, i can feel it, so i can definitely see how it's risky.
yeah i don't feel ready to go on T but maybe one day.
i'm glad i'm learning about all this stuff anyway though, it's all really interesting.
=)

Re: DHEA
Tue, October 30, 2007 - 3:38 PMheheh, i'm glad we have your wisdom of having tried all these tricks before =)
my voice actually HAS gotten deeper though, and i'm pretty sure it's the DHEA, it could be something else but it happened at exactly the same time. like i said i'm not going to stay on it for this reason though.

Re: DHEA
Tue, October 30, 2007 - 2:45 PMHeyia Larkin,
I'm not a Medical Doctor, but I did a short search on Medline -- looking for research journal abstracts on DHEA -- and all I could find was that there were no conclusive studies/data on the side effects of DHEA. A bit frustrating, eh? I suggest contacting Dr. Lori Kohler at 415/476-2040
lkohler@fcm.ucsf.edu
She's amazing! If you email her and she writes you back, let us know.
Good luck, dude! -

Re: DHEA
Tue, October 30, 2007 - 3:41 PMhey, thanks man. yeah the data on DHEA is so controversial.
i definitely noticed my chest and heart rate going a bit too fast when i was taking 25mg a day though. i did that for 6 days and then noticed the chest effects and dropped the dose to a 1/3rd of that. now i'm going off completely after having researched the possible implications for the thyroid gland.
encrinology really is something else, very interesting our little bodies... -

Re: DHEA
Tue, October 30, 2007 - 4:06 PMif you have not been on it that long, any thing that could have happened to your thyroid shouldnt be permanent. every "body" is different if your voice changed even slightly at the same time you started it then it could very well eb that, chest isnt surprising i did notice that on myself, i failed to mention that lol. estrogen blockers are good give me a day or so and i can come up with some names for you. hell i will even make one big post about it. i promise before i started t i tried every over the counter backwoods old wives tale tryin to get results so theres not much i havent tried and most, well almost all have been crap lol
