What is your favorite "trick" to pull on your office mates? Personally, I enjoy pulling the ball out of the mouse and hiding it arround the desk. Or if I am working as an admin for the site I will drop things on the desktop with wierd names like "P0rn" or something embaressing like that.
ideas?

Re: Computers are sort of office supplies...
Wed, August 22, 2007 - 2:25 PMBack when I was the IT Manager for the US Courts, one of my happiest memories was installing the "Blue Screen of Death" screensaver into a server that my Systems Administrator had, after many days, finally gotton configured and ready for use. He came back from lunch and almost had a stroke when he saw the Blue Screen of Death.
On April1 many years ago, I sent a message to all our users asking them to stay away from their keyboards during lunch because we were going to clean out the network with compressed air and they might get little "ones" and "zeros" on their clothing. Some believed it.

Re: Computers are sort of office supplies...
Wed, August 22, 2007 - 2:25 PMMy friend Suzy played the best trick ever on one of our secretaries .... you will have to do this on a computer that has one of those anti-glare screens on it, though. One that looks like this: www.jwodcatalog.com/imgLg/70...37840.jpg
Then, you make some jet-black paper, by leaving open the copy machine and hitting "copy" a few times. Take your toner-rich paper and trim/add more until you have a solid sheet of black the same size as the glare-reducing screens.
Next, remove the glare screen, and securely tape the black paper to the back, so when you put the glare screen back on the monitor, all you see is black -- i.e. like the monitor is off and/or the computer's off.
Wait for your victim to try turning on his/her computer and watch the fun transpire ... depending on the user's level of computer savviness, he or she will be reduced to a pile of curses and frustration in either a very short amount of time or a very long amount of time.

Re: Computers are sort of office supplies...
Wed, August 22, 2007 - 2:28 PMor you could always use the classic "changing the menu language to Russian or Chinese or any language other than English" trick ....
or change the screen-saver to something cute like "I like dick" - then password-protect it and set it up to screen-save after only a minute's worth of time ...
not that I've ever tried any of these things ... *ahem* -

Re: Computers are sort of office supplies...
Wed, August 22, 2007 - 5:01 PMGeh. in my place of emplyoment, this behavior would be BAD. The ensuing one-upsmanship would end up getting on the radio... and that could be ugly. -

Re: Computers are sort of office supplies...
Wed, August 22, 2007 - 5:19 PMOooooh, consider the resulting chaos if someone at the station were to replace a number of popular MP3s with same-sized recordings of loud, wet fart-noises, or the groans and incoherent invocations of deities of two people in The Act? -

Re: Computers are sort of office supplies...
Wed, August 22, 2007 - 5:48 PMoh! that would just be sweet! -

Re: Computers are sort of office supplies...
Wed, August 22, 2007 - 6:36 PMIf it happened on KWHL no one would notice. Eddie's show, on the other hand, might get batter ratings. -

Re: Computers are sort of office supplies...
Thu, August 23, 2007 - 7:05 AMTake a snapshot of your friends desktop and use it as the background and then stick all of the desktop icons in a folder in your C: drive. That drives 'em nuts usually... no matter how much they click....
Also replacing the most common words in a fellow employees Microsoft Word program with extreme profanities so when they type 'and' it will automatically correct to 'cocksucker' or other such filth.
I got alot more but those are in the top ten. ;) -

Re: Computers are sort of office supplies...
Thu, August 23, 2007 - 10:33 AMReminds me, lo those many years ago, of the first week of Windows 95, when I was working at a white-box retailer, and I figured out that you could network share the Desktop directory. And drag and delete icon files to it all day. Which really frustrates your boss. Who never did figure out who was doing it.
Ahhhhh, good times. -

Re: Computers are sort of office supplies...
Thu, August 23, 2007 - 12:36 PMYeah, like I'm going to break into your house to mess with your computer. I'd rather teach your birds to say vulgar things and then laugh when you complain at a bird club meeting. -
-
Re: Computers are sort of office supplies...
Thu, August 23, 2007 - 4:37 PMYou already laugh when I complain at bird club meetings. -
-
Re: Computers are sort of office supplies...
Thu, August 23, 2007 - 5:27 PMYeah, but I'm not laughing AT you...I'm laughing WITH you!
-
Re: Computers are sort of office supplies...
Thu, August 23, 2007 - 6:40 PMyou drive your birds to club meetings? I would laugh too. -
-
Re: Computers are sort of office supplies...
Thu, August 23, 2007 - 7:15 PMActually, no. We drive our complaints to the meetings. Then we laugh at each other. "Your bird pooped WHERE?" "He said WHAT in front of your clergyperson?" "He ate your WALL? -
-
Re: Computers are sort of office supplies...
Thu, August 23, 2007 - 7:28 PM"He masturbated on WHAT? In front of WHO?"
"He ate the WHOLE BOX OF COOKIES???"
"He did WHAT on MySpace?"

Re: Computers are sort of office supplies...
Fri, August 24, 2007 - 12:46 PMMy birds don't have myspace accounts and they don't know my password. Pepper, at 20, IS old enough to have an account pretty much anywhere he wants, but Junio'rs only ten.
And they don't type so well. Their manifesto would look something like
OPOIHBUTYGDRWS%$TGHJUII_)*ui9yh767redrhyj;./[p-80-6uytdefhjiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii
They see it less as "typing" and more as "walking." -

This is the maximum depth. Additional responses will not be threaded.
Re: Computers are sort of office supplies...
Fri, August 24, 2007 - 1:19 PMOr pecking, maybe. -
-
Re: Computers are sort of office supplies...
Fri, August 24, 2007 - 5:30 PMParrots don't really peck so much as they bite. Although Pepper can be quite a pecker. -

Re: Computers are sort of office supplies...
Fri, August 24, 2007 - 5:31 PMThere are SO many innuendoes I could make out of that!
But I won't because I am a lady.
