Moving!!!

First my apologies to eveyone for not taking care of our group!

I'll be moving to the KC area this summer and would like to pass this group on to a fellow burner.

Originally, this group was tied to Wichita Hand Drumming. We did that so the spinners had music and so the drummers had a visual to attract others to join in. We rarely did fire. Part of the reason was because I hadn't gotten in contact with the local fire marshal.

Please check it out! I'm a moderator for a little bit still and will pass this info onto Chris and Barb so that hopefully everyone can get together and jam again.

Interfuse 08 -- Midwests burning man event

The Midwest Burners' website for 2008 is up and running. Interfuse
will again be at Ozark Avalon. This year's theme:

You must be a member of Midwest Burners to purchase tickets, and this
year it is 18 and up only in attendance, according to a new policy
issued by Midwest Burners.

Tickets go on sale in early March.

They're looking at a 20% increase in numbers this year, and that means
perhaps as many as 900 tickets available.

Spin and Drum Sunda 11-18-07

We will be gathering at the park like usual this Sunday the 18th from 5-7pm.

I will bring a tiki torch for better light this time!

The weather forcast shows a 10% chance of rain in the evening with temps in the mid 50s to lows of upper 30s. Bring your jackets folks!!!

Sunday Jam

Sunday Jam is on Sunday November 4th, from 5-7pm!

Since the last practice had a bad showing, due to weather I'm sure, I'm
putting out the weather forcast and rollcall.

Sunday's high is listed for 75 degrees for the high! Yeah!

If anyone plans on coming out please respond to this post! I know that
the season is changing and that people get busy, but if noone plans on
going, then it also saves me the trip as well.

We plan to continue meeting until the weather gives us no choice. We
are also looking into finding an indoor venue suitable for both the
drumming and hopefully fire spinning.

This is an open invitation to all Fire Spinners and Drummers. I am
getting married Oct. 31st, and we are having Fire Spinning and Drumming
before the wedding at 9pm (SPT) This should be an event not to miss. If
you can I would love to meet some of you, and the more Spinners and
Drummers we have the better the wedding will be. Please e-mail me if

P.S. You must be insured to spin fire at the Kansas State Fairgrounds,
which is where the event is to take place.

Next spin and drum jam!

We will meet at Sedgwick Couny Park on Sunday, October the 21st from 5-
7pm-ish. We meet near the southeast entrance, just off of 13th and
Ridge.

We're hoping the new times will give us more light time since sunset
keeps getting earlier. Not to mention what the night temps are doing!

If weather permits, those that are interested, are welcome to then come
out to our place again and drum/spin fire.

Reminder - Those wishing to spin fire NEED to get in touch with me via
e-mail FIRST. This helps to keep everyone safe and organized.

Fyre and Drums kicks off with a bang!

Wow! There's no better way to say it. The BBQ was a total success! We
had an amazing turn out. We got to meet a lot of new people. Without
having taken a head count, I would say we had around 20 people show.

We want to thank our wonderful drummers, Chris and Barb. It was so
nice to have their rythms to spin to! It was a new experience to them
too. They had never seen fire spinning before. Barb also had fun
dancing with some hand candles! Although we hope to have more
drummers next time, they did a great job! Thanks to them also for
bringing some very different types of percussion instruments. The
variety of sounds to choose from was so much fun!

We also want to thank Seth and his friends. You guys rocked! We never
could've imagined so many fire spinners in our area. We really
appreciated that you guys made sure to cover your supplies. The
temporary poi heads were new to us, but definately did the trick. We
plan on passing the idea around, especially for burners on a tight
budget or those just starting out. Thanks also for helping out with
spotting. It's always nice to see people working together and helping
each other out.

Thanx again to everyone! It truly was an amazing display of skill and
talent partnered with wonderful music!

We look foward to seeing some of you out at HullabalU, and then
seeing everyone out at the park on the 21st!
