It would be great if someone could let us know what happened to the gathering. Are there two gatherings happening or has one sight become dominant. If there is one good solid gathering happening we'd all love to be there.
Why the divided Rainbow? Why the nationals vs internationals rhetoric? Rainbow is a sensitive and dramatic situation and people are just flung wide open. I get more pissed off at Rainbow than I get at my own mother sometimes. What makes this shit so personal? Is it just that I feel that it's too much me, too much you, too much us?
This is the movement that we, the people, started. Was actually braking off from the system more than we bargained for? I just hear more and more stories of these horrible Rainbow experiences, can my last Rainbow experience out- horrify yours?
I see alot of cats jumpin' boat, giving up on the experience. Lord knows I feel disillusioned in a great way.............
Oh how I remember a magik I once felt with the family, hugging together tight against the wind on lot, singing "I will get by". Kids that we grew up with, kids from every small town and big city dropping out and leaving home to follow that purple glow. Jerry just scribbling that shit out with his musical pen.
Yes, shit changes, things could never be like they were, but shall we give up on rainbow? I hear alot of talk about the difference between national and internationals. This is just good old competetiveness between cultures which is misunderstanding which is prejudicism which is racism which is hate which is gossip which is nasty acts of revenge which is death blood and decay...........Knock it off!
There is a certain spirit that exists in the national gatherings that seems to be lacking in the "international" ones and vice a versa. Rainbow went international in accordance with the nature of the movement and it seems as if it might have bitten off more than it can chew. Can one culture bring it's fight for freedom so abruptly onto the rest of world? It's destined to be interpretated in a whole different light than the place it grew up. Check out communism in Vietnam(?), Christianity in Rome, Hip Hop in Germany! The shit don't sound right.
Rainbow's gone abroad fellas, it's gonna look strange. Let's just all try and learn from each other. America vs. the world is for politicians, if we as hippies can't unite, where the fuck are we?
So I find myself asking myself where I stand in relationship to the family. I do want to soupport what Rainbow stands for?
I remember the brothers and sisters I struggled together with to see things through. To get through this existance and this system so bizarre and illogical. I threw everything I ever had away, then Rainbow emerged from the woods, reminding me that love was real. Was it the answer or just another trick to be avoided?
We all have our own idea of what Rainbow means. To me it means people gathering freely and peacefully on a piece of land to celebrate existance: Hippies, freaks and normal Joe's of every walk of life letting it all hang out. Somebody tell me, is this happening?
